People were talking about it the moment maps were revealed, and they would still be talking about it if Ret won.

I disagree that Ret was outplayed. In fact he deserves credit for being so close to defending the push in the last game, despite the mistakes he made (player under pressure will almost certainly make more mistakes than the aggressive player anyway). From what I've seen in all 3 games, Ret is the better all-round player IMO. On balanced maps, Ret would probably win 7 series out of 10 against this guy.

The thing that irks me is that silly things like this just fuel the talk of Korean superiority.

I thought Ret defended amazing in the last game, so many times I thought he was dead lost but kept going. This doesn't mean he was the better player.

All 3 games just confirmed what is the current viewpoint (not saying that I agree) on TvZ. If you let a zerg macro up and have map control (ala game 1), you're disadvantaging yourself. Likewise, if Zerg is too greedy eco-wise on smaller maps, they are vulnerable to aggression (games 2, 3).

Again, I can respect your opinion that Ret is better, but the fact that he lost doesn't help your cause compared to if he won.


More worryingly, it doesn't affect your position that sCfOu is the better player because he beat Ret on Steppes.

I tend to stay away of these assumptions, because often the better player does not win.

Well that's funny because I thought Ret played TheBestfOu.

Futhermore, you haven't actually specified why another map would have done anything to change the outcome of the games.

Do I need to explain that a map with better TvZ statistics would prove a more accurate gauge of skill?
