Man, I'm a terran player and I agree with this. All the respect in the world to SeleCT. He's a micro beast. But, any time I'm watching a player for 3 hours and you know exactly what he's going to do from a strategic perspective, it just gets boring. Yes, tactically, he's impressive (I don't want to say "brilliant" because, even tactically, its the exact same stuff every game). But when everyone in the building knows your exact build and your tactics, regardless of the map or even the situation, and top notch players still have trouble with it, it indicates a problem.

This isn't a general character trait like "HuK is aggressive" or "IdrA is passive", the man gives you the same build order and tactics every game (yeah, yeah ... reactor against Kiwi, woweee). It'll be interesting to see, post tournament, whether top guys can poke holes in the carefully crafted and field tested SeleCT produt.

An IdrA/SeleCT finals will be a fight of the least creative top players we have in NA and, oddly, I'd still give my left nut to watch.

someone had to say it, I totally agree with you

IdrA also always uses the same strats... same ZvP strat same ZvT strat and probably always same ZvZ strat....

Boxer is so fondly remembered because he did stuff that made people go wow, or smile. Nada is the most successful BW player but people still think more fondly over boxer.

Grats to HuK, he did sometime that made me smile and laugh. And I still think that the game is imbalanced so yes, Im not reading too much into his loss. For all you know, the next patch might change everything again.

As good as Select is, Im still rooting for huk and now, Idra.

He lost his nat because he went stargate -> fleet beacon and had no units to defend it.

I know Huk has won a lot of fans with this move but i think it was a gross disservice to his existing ones along with Team Liquid and its sponsor. If he values showboating over victory then he really needs to look at his goals as a progamer.

exactly.

huk's behavior is unprofessional. If you want e-sports to be legitimate, you can't support his behavior. His actions are self-promotional.

Do you even play StarCraft II? Do you know how this game works?

Pop quiz: Did HuK build a fleet beacon before or after he lost his natural?

If HuK's Mothership rush had won him the game would you all be saying he doesn't take it serious?

Huk wasn't throwing it away he was simply using a legit strat that COULD have worked. If it did you would be calling him a genius. But so many of you are complaining because he doesn't take it serious? It was fun, remember that? fun, it's what starcraft is about.

Huk has won some high level games in the past with mothership rushes, I've seen him beat drewbie with it. It's not a completely non-viable strat. Huk also just soundly lost the previous game that was played pretty straight up. I don't think that the mothership rush was the equivalent of handing Select the victory.

going on close to 30 matches, that is sick

IdrA is basically the zerg SeleCT
SeleCT is basically a terran IdrA
predictable/mechanical/skilled micro/super solid macro, but win anyway

I think the two best players at MLG DC are in the grand finals which is awesome...probably whoever doesn't screw up will win

Why blame HuK for what he did? He's doing exactly what Boxer did before him. Esports isn't all about being the most perfect player every single game. HuK is adding fun into a game that loses its fun aspects when you nitpick about shit like going mothership.

Select have no chance vs IdrA. IdrA just know the ZvT match up too well, and with the recent zerg buff I don't see what Select can do if he decides to not play an unorthodox style against Idra.

i think this guy is right

he thought "well, i know im behind, so i will go mothership to try to pull off a surprise victory"

and then people are surprised huk loses. oh huk gave up

u guys do realize if he played straight up he would have lost anyways, right?

no? im not surprised u people don't realize this, despite how omniscient you all are
