Great example is a school like Navy who is generally undersized but use their speed by running the option, and will beat teams they probably shouldn't beat.

I see it the same here. If LS just does standard straight up play he isn't going to win, he just doesn't have the level of skill to keep up, few players would. So you try to do some little things to play to some strengths you might have to try to pull off the upset. Good for him for being creative and trying to give himself what he felt was the best chance at winning, that is the point.
