Feels to me like they should start seeding the top16, or at least put them in a position where they only have to beat one person to advance. These are the GSL pre-season events. They are designed to set up seeding for the real GSLs starting next year.
this
I think it would be ridiculous to seed in tournaments that are supposed to determine seeds; let's say two unknown but extremely skilled players have to play against each other in round 1 prelims - that's not fair either, but hey, that's life; some seeds, in fact, must exist, otherwise it wouldn't be possible that so many top players can advance in the first place (probability of some of them not playing against each other would be extremely low)

that's why I said seed 16 or 32 players or whatever from previous GSLs in a "ro128" and make them play the winners from 64 player brackets. This will ensure high level players in the ro64 as well as guaranteeing that known players won't face each other early on.

I think its pretty obvious they're already doing some sort of seeding even if its not actually said...what are the odds that out of all the big names/favorites none of them were really in the same bracket now that its over? All the big names that have been eliminated so far didn't lose to another big name but to an unknown which would've happened the same even with seeding.

good to see nada in
lots of new faces in this GSL will be interesting

CellaWerra had to play Clide in qualifiers, both qualified for GSL 1. Just wanted to point that out, Clide and Cella were in a position where only 1 of them could qualify for GSL 2, so I think that if they did seed people, all they did was seed the ~top 16 away from each other.

Yea to clarify I don't think they went all out with it but they did clearly tamper with brackets to make sure the top 16 wouldn't face each other and huge names like Boxer/Nada would have fairly easy brackets.

That's really all the "seeding" they should do in GSL 2 and 3 since the first three GSLs are supposed to be like a preseason. Just prevent the top 16 from playing each other before the RO64.

It makes perfect sense.
Seeding the whole Ro 64 from GSL 1 would give a high chance of the GSLs looking identical, they are looking for the 96 best as I recall not the 64 so they don't want to seed too extensively. On the other hand they need to seed the higher ones because having Cool vs ITR or Cool vs Boxer in a non streamed match would be plain stupid.

Fuck yeah, Sangho. ^_^
Feels great to see him qualify, especially after all the bad shit that went down in BW. Hopefully, he can go far into the bracket as well.
|
I just wish they were more transparent on the exact way they seed and decide the brackets for the qualifiers.
