I'm sorry, I'm sure that the Gunrun is a nice person but he has nowhere near the game knowledge that Day9 has, he just isn't able to look at the game and provide strong analysis, all he can do is provide some basic play-play and even then his accent just isn't pleasant to listen to. He doesn't compliment day9 at all, he really is just disruptive. You can blame day9 for not working that well with him but unlike Diapollo in the previous IEM the gunrun again just has nothing to say that isn't obvious. He also is talking really fast but he doesn't seem to be able to think as fast as he talks so he ends up stammering and repeating himself a lot. Here's a game from the qualifiers that gunrun commentates (it's the game where Huk gets 6 pooled by machine). He talks about the possibility of nydus play and doesn't notice the 6 pool even when his camera is on machine's base and he can clearly see no larvae being morphed. He doesn't even realize that it was a 6 pool until after the game. When the fight starts gunrun is reduced to screaming "oh my god" over and over again because he just can't think of anything to say. http://sc2casts.com/cast620-Huk-vs-Machine-Best-of-3-Intel-Extreme-Masters-Group-Stage By comparison, in the Inca vs fruitdealer GSL game Artosis noticed in the first 5 seconds of the game that a six pool was coming as it's very obvious if you don't see the first drone being morphed. I'm sorry but thegunrun is just an awful commentator. Most of the people following this thread would do just as well if not better and that's my honest opinion. | ||

Edit: Also, an argument that the accent is not pleasant to listen to? Really? That is pure discrimination. One could make the equally "valid" claim that f.ex. Day9 is a terrible caster because of his American accent. | ||

Currently it looks like we have a 10$ webcam for the casters, 1 computer for both guys to share and the rest is an online tournament. No overlays with player faces, no shots of the crowd/the stage, no interviews. I'm am underwhelmed. This just doesn't feel like a live lan event Hope it gets better. | ||
