During the beta, VT Gaming was proud to host a number of tournaments, including the Beta Sendoff tournament won by Canadian Protoss Kiwikaki. We promised then that we would host many more tournaments in the future.

Now is the time for the next tournament - VT Gaming's largest tournament to date.

Tournament Date: Sunday, October 3rd: 7pm EST

[b]Location: BNet North America[b]

Tournament Format:

* 128-player slots
* BO1 through the Round of 32
* BO3 from Round of 16 through Semifinal
* BO5 final
* Maps will be randomly assigned per round, loser picks next map. Maps cannot be repeated.

Prize Pool:

1st place: $100
2nd place: $75
3rd place: $25

Administration: The tournament will be organized through VT Gaming’s IRC Channel.

The tournament will be organized through VT Gaming's IRC Channel. You can get there by joining #VTGaming @ Gamesurge or by going to the Community tab at the top and selecting VT IRC. Then enter your nickname and click Connect.

Reporting for the tournament will be done through the IRC. To report a match, simply message one of the admins the results of your game (e.g. Zerker 1-0 Attero).

If there is a dispute in any of the games, please message one of the admins through the IRC. If they do not answer in IRC, try messaging them in game. Replays are required to resolve any disputes that may come about.

If a player does not show for their match within 10 minutes of the scheduled time, message one of the administrators.

Administrators:

* Mirhi
* Tranqfx
* Tortelini
* Fizzlestick
* Katsune

Streamers:

* Attero
* Gretorp
* Grats
* Cecil

Rules:

If a player disconnects, the game must be replayed. If a player feels that they had such a significant advantage that their win would be imminent, then they can dispute the match and an admin. will determine if a win should be given. In the case of repeated disconnects, the player with the issue may be forfeited at the discretion of administrators. Only official casters and administrators will be allowed in the game. If an official caster or administrator lags continuously, they will be disallowed to cast or observe future games. Excessive bad manner will result in warnings or forfeited games at the discretion of the administrative staff. In extreme cases, bans from future events will result.

How to register:

Register for the forums by clicking Register on the bottom-left of the website and filling out the required information. Then reply to the post found here via the comment section and/or through the reply option with your Name.Identifier (e.g. Mirhi.136). Though the tournament field is limited to 128 players, in the event of no-shows all extra players will be eligible for the tournament in the order that they registered. For that reason feel free to register for the tournament even if the slots have been filled.

All information concerning the tournament will be posted here on VTGaming.net, so keep a close eye on the site, especially as Sunday, October 3rd approaches.

How to check-in: There is not yet an automated check-in feature for VT Gaming. Because of this, you must be in the IRC channel at the check-in time.

Simply joining (and staying) in the IRC channel will count as being checked in. Be sure to use the same nickname that you signed up with.

Check-in will close at 6:45pm EST and replacements will be inserted on a first come first serve basis.

Best of luck to all of you and we're anxious to see some great and excited matches!

- Michael 'Torte de Lini' Cohen & Frank 'Mirhi' Fields

P.S: Any additional streamers and/or casters who are interested in streaming or casting our tournament should contact either me, Torte de Lini, and/or Mirhi either via private message on the VTGaming website and/or through e-mail or IRC [both found on-site].

We reconsidered other days within the near future [Next Sunday, Saturday, Friday], but we didn't want to conflict with other important events and create a distraught feeling within the players.

Sunday is a conflicting time with another event, but it was our sole option given the restricting variables:

Many apologies.

Since TorcH is in LA for WCG Finals, he's been a little busy and without reliable internet. It's uncertain if he'll actually be around for the event.

VT is aware that we have more participants than spots. Currently we are considering opening this to 256. Continue to register and we will make a call sometime lat tonight. We hope to host many more tournaments and more frequently. So if you miss this one, we hope to see you at the next.

Thanks,

You need to register and post on vtgaming.net for the tournament. In addition, there are rule updates that are posted on the tournament page that we are not able to update here due to Tortelini's PC issues that have come up this week.

Most notable update about the tournament is how check-ins are being handled.

Check-In is at 6:30pm EST, details about check-in and replacements are on the newsposts.

We will try to get this post updated as well ASAP, but as previously stated, Tortelini's PC has had major issues.

If you are not one of the first 128 to register, be in the IRC channel and you will likely get a backup spot. Depending on the number of signups Sunday, the tournament field may be extended. However that depends 100% on the number of no-shows.

Sorry to say Attero, but letting the casters know whats up IS a must. Kicking Gretorp out on the finals after he casted sooo many games was RIDICULOUS. Even though Gretorp didn't say anything bad he does have fans that will let you know whats up. Get some manners, serious so bm. This tournament with maps in finals and axing Gretorp kinda just turned into a joke tournament got to say, yes a joke. Work better in future and BMing people wont make you popular in a scene that "you are just returning too". Having prizes doesn't make it good.

vT gaming is going to fail if they think ditching a commentator that people like is a good idea. If your viewership goes down as you get closer to the finals, you're doing it wrong. This is such basic stuff when it comes to promoting a brand that it should be common sense.

There are so many tournaments going on right now that people can afford to skip a few over things like this, so you should rethink how you do things if you actually care about the success of your organization.

p.s. Gretorp is, in my opinion, a much better caster than the guy who took over.

Its not kicking out gretorp that bothered me as much as how rude and short he was. Attero said "vtgaming only", then gretorp was like "so I cant cast it?" instead of saying something like "no, im sorry, we want to keep it amongst the team" or something along those lines he just goes "thats right." Like peace, gtfo...

Like I said its one thing to not want any added streamers but pls be respectful to your fellow ambassadors
Stay thirsty my friends

If Gretorp's fans and supporters could notify him of the private message I left him on Team Liquid, I would deeply appreciate it [though it is understandable if none of you feel I am owed his attention].

The staff from vT was amazing and professional. a bunch of caster to cast the whole thing, admins here and there. It was a blast. I wish a lot of tournaments could copy their line of work so there would be a lot more successful tournaments out there.

PS: There is no sarcasm in this post.

I just think that if you want to get viewers do the best casting job of the torney. Kicking a guy that had 1000 viewers so you can get from 250 to 500 is not the smartest thing to do - lost 750 viewers. Just get a better stream then his. So naturally people will watch you, but forcing people to watch your stream - especially the way you guys did, after gretorp cast almost the whole torney - really isn't good for your image.

Just my opinion anyway. Gretorp was doing a GREAT cast and you guys changed for a OK cast.

I was one of the people to "had to" switch the streams in order to watch the final. Just to let you know, the MAIN reason why Gretorp had 1k viewers and you dont, is not because he is more popular.

Gretorp has much better knowledge on the game than you. I dont think Gretorp would ever say something like "I dont know why Axslav is making phoenixes. I think he wants to harass Socke workers line..." (any Plat+ protoss would know that phoenix > collo)

Anyway, good tournament beside the Gretorp thing. Next time you want to up your stream viewers, just invite the most popular caster to co-cast with you on your stream. And tell them before hand.

That was the shittiest bad manners I have ever seen when it comes to how to handle a tournament. Gretorp was plugging vt in his casts and did way superior casts than attero. Attero sat and plugged himself every 3 minutes, saying how much he is going to stream and then he says something along the lines: Sry about gretorp, I know a lot of you are hating right now but old school sc2 players knows me while new players might not so.

What does that have to do with anything? No I played the whole beta and I don't know you, if i did I wouldn't watch that garbage. Completly lacking the knowledge and the depth that gretorp got. So gretorp is helping you out and then you kick him from casting the finals. Never watching vt ever again.

I'm pretty sure the plan was always to have Attero on the finals and not Gretorp. Gretorp is a freaking awesome guy and there is no way anyone would directly disrespect him. Whether he is a superior caster to Attero is not the point of discussion. I believe we didn't want too many casters in the finals to avoid lag and to not split viewership up.

I'm sorry if any of you guys are disappointed/offended and I'm sure vT will take it into consideration when setting up casting for the next tournament.

@Geval: I do think having a co-cast with Gretorp would've been a good idea. It was a decision made by others so I cannot say anything more about it than I already have, and that's mostly educated speculation.

Anyways, it was a fantastic tournament and I'm glad so many people did enjoy it.

Then why didn't anybody tell Gretorp (or the viewers) beforehand? And why was it handled in such a ridiculously rude and curt fashion?

This should have been posted before inviting Gretorp to cast and it should have been clearly outlined in the OP.

I think VT clearly screwed up here, and if it wants to put things right it should acknowledge this and apologize to Gretorp. Additionally, Attero should either be scrapped as a caster, paired with a co-caster, or find someway to dramatically improve. The finals were painful to listen to and I left half way through after he paused for a phone call.

Yea definitely gretorp is a good player and knows his stuff. Attero is pretty good too; although it is the vt tournament. Perhaps they should have had Gretorp at least in the cast with them. Even as a co-commentator. It was a pleasure to be casted by him in these games, and really did understand a lot about the matchups.

Hello everyone. Although all is well with Gretorp and he had no problem with what happened, there is no mistake that we acknowledge the huge, disgusting, and horrible miscommunication that happened between Gretorp and the tournament semi-finals and finals. Gretorp was incredible in every way, and I sincerely apologize for the way the tournament ended. It is our duty to make sure something like this does not happen again. And we can assure you that it will not. vT Gaming and myself want to thank Gretorp and all of you for being as honest as you can be and take all your comments into consideration. I hope you all can understand that we had no intention of cutting off Gretorp in such a manner, and will continue to do our best to contribute to the community in a positive way, trying to steer clear of such drama. Thank you all for your love and support and your comments are always appreciated.

everybody makes mistake sometime. Hope you guys will learn from it. Once again, thank you for organizing the tournament, and looking forward for Attero's cast in the future (hopefully you will improve and become as awesome as Gretorp/Day9)
