Entry Fee of £15 isn't allowed under Blizzard rules for tournaments iirc.
Indeed, an entry fee is not allowed and no offence, but the prizes hardly justify said entry fee. They're also weird as hell, 3rd prize is worth more than the 2nd prize...
£600 worth of prizes 32players x £15 each = £480
So they could just scrap the entry fee and do £100 1st place and £20 2nd place or something tourney.
Edit: I registered and mailed them hopefully they will scrap the entry fee, but maybe they will do a switch and get round it by having an 'Entry' into the area fee or some sillyness. I wonder if that is against Blizzard Rules aswell as its still a fee to play in the tourney.
Bear in mind that they're also renting out the a LAN cafe to host the event. The entry fee includes use of computers and consoles for the day. £15 entry is a bit on the steep side but it's the same as the cost of a day pass to Gamerbase so it's not completely unreasonable.
they need to change the post then and say it isnt an "Entry Fee" but its for "PC Rental", could probably get around it that way!
Hello guys, please remember that Gamerbase is an gaming centre, the price includes full use of the venue including ALL gaming machines. This event is ran by Gamerbase and sponsored by ZOWIE GEAR.
Having this at Gamerbase is a great idea because even after you get knocked out you can enjoy some more SC or some other games in an amazing venue.
I would go if it was closer, my local gamerbase is great, should be a cool event
There is permission for this and the event is fully supported by Blizzard, HMV Gamerbase and ZOWIE GEAR so I hope everyone who is interested can attend. Enjoy.
Would go but my student bank account doesn't allow it =(
This looks to be epic, and i will most definately be there; ^_^
I think a company like ZOWIE wouldn't risk hosting a lan without permission from Blizzard. £15 is more than reasonable imo, purely cos as Banks has said you can play someother stuff while there as you're effectively renting the PC for the day aswell ! :D
ZOWIE FIGHTING~~~~!!!@@
Sounds good. I'll definatly be there.
Sign ups going well, remember the venue can only hold 32 players.
litrually dont care about winning, i know i wont but omfg i SOOOOOOO want that bag xD <3
this is gonna be cool, i was at the london tournament and it was much smaller than this..
Last chance to sign up guys, sign ups haven't been as good as expected so there will be an even better chance to win those awesome prizes!
And remember our random prize draws mean that ALL of you have a chance of winning great prizes

Wish I had the money/transport/actually being good at sc2 to make these trips viable. T_T I guess in the future sometime.
I'm seriously considering this, I'm trying to find a way to get there, which theoretically should be pretty cheap since I'm in Southampton right now, but I have to use public transport since I don't own a car.
If i can get transport sorted out, I will definitely try and make it.
-edit alright, trying to get there by train is going to be interesting, if I don't want a hotel, I have a train journey that takes 8 hours.

Any luck with that? Had a few more people join! Not long till the event starts, can't wait!

I thought the event started at 9, I should be fine, tickets where still 16 pounds, but me and Sayle (<3) will be there.
