huk, kiwikaki and socke are my 3 favorite protoss players, so im very glad with the result. from a spectators viewpoint, id have preferred a nonmirror in the grand finals though.

You're totally wrong.
First of all, because he got out of the winner bracket ahead, HuK should have a full set advantage (bo3 in this case) against kiwikaki who lost a match already and not just a mere game advantage, and HuK should be required to win only one bo3 again while kiwikaki should have to win 2 to make up for his earlier loss in the tournament.

This loser bracket style has been used for like 10 years in professional FPS tournaments and it always worked like this.

Also, if there weren't any advantage for HuK and both had to win 2 bo3s, it wouldn't be the same as a bo7 anyways. Say HuK wins first 2-1, loses second 1-2, and wins 2-1 the third... wait, kiwikaki won 4 games and still lost the series? doesn't sound like a bo7 to me.

Unfortunately this kind of bracket doesn't work too well for RTS games imo and I think double group stage > single elimination bracket is better.

Since like 3 people have quoted this now, Yes, I'm an idiot and was completely wrong. One last laugh at me and then we can let the thread go on. Thanks for spelling it out for me, somehow I was too slow to figure it out myself - tilting hard over the non-legit complaints littering the thread.

Not only did Huk win, but he had the most entertaining games as well. His storming in the last game he played vs. Terran was awesome stuff. His Phoenix play in the finals was not only ballsy, but he completely crushed KiwiKaki with it, who was unable to adapt. I'm glad Huk won with amazing and innovative play compared to Kiwi who did 4 gate strategy in every PvP he played (7 games in a row?)

I like the extended series, probably not quite as fair on the winners' winner but he still takes an advantage and it's a lot less confusing than having one player have to win twice while the other doesn't need to.

Big congrats to HuK, winning with the handicap of using 0 as his hotkey for nexus makes it even more impressive.

He probably has APM over and doesn't want to re-learn his hotkey setup.

Edit

Nice day, sadly I missed some games but over all good casting with some minor things I could nitpick on, but people flamed on those already. Hopefully we don't get that many PvP next time. ^^ Grats to the winner.

Replays will probably be released according to MLG people.

So few indepth interviews and live videos off the playareas etc though, kinda dissapointed by the coverage :s

you know, I think this is the biggest thing that IEM did well relative to this tourney. Instead of talking heads for a half hour inbetween matches we got to see a bit of the players. Commentators are great but...these tourneys are about the gamers!

I feel like I should be able to recognize some of these guys' faces by now...that'll never happen if tourney organizers don't put them on camera.

I really want to get a feel for who these top SC2 players are, it would make me much more interested in the SC2 scene.

Some of the MLG guys have posted in this thread to let us know that VoDs and replays will be available sometime next week.

They're all going to be very busy all weekend long so it'll take awhile for that stuff to be posted.

Big thanks to the MLG staff for working so hard to bring us such an amazing tournament.

Also, just want to give props to the guys running MLG. There seemed like there were a few problems here and there, but overall a smooth and enjoyable tournament. I was glad I got the HD stream and now I'll be watching the other events as well
