live streaming introduces so many problems, all tournaments should broadcast from replays a round behind the players.

honestly i have no idea how live streaming became the norm for these kinds of tournaments. god knows how many lag issues there have been and how many people have cheated off the stream.

live casting is a standard for any sport, apart from something that is impossible to get live casted- i.e. rallying.

Live casting for others sports can't somehow lend to cheating extremely easily... it can in esports like this. When the casters or organizers find a way to delay a stream by a couple of minutes it will become a non-issue (well, on the cheating end at least). I care more about the integrity of the matches than I do about knowing I see something EXACTLY when it occurs... especially when it's not like we can see player's reactions anyhow.

btw: Go Haypro.

most streams are delayed by a couple of minutes, and as far as cheating in real sport goes - waht about chess?
What about steroids? Match fixing? cough cough.
Integrity will always take the backseat to entertainment value.

Most streams aren't delayed. Over long, long casts where people don't refresh it begins to widen the gap though. I'm glad you're justifying the existence of possible cheating because people in other areas of competitions have done it. Do games have a little more interest when they're casted live? Yes, but it has even less of an impact when we can't see player/fan reaction because all we have are what the commentators choose to say or not say at the moment.

With a legitimate amount of money on the line in some cases, ways to prevent cheating (when it's extremely easy to do) should be taken. Also, match fixing and steroids both spurred investigations to punish and prevent it from happening; all you're suggesting it ignoring.

Well the russian streamers are most definitely running with delay, and i dont see what is stopping anyone else from running witha delay. Its a non-argument.

Just like BP's oil spill launched investigation. There is an illusion of integrity. There is nothing in way of prevetion, just an attempt at distancing.

I am not suggesting ignoring it. I am just saying there is no way around streaming it live. Think about how to make streams better for everyone not about reasons not to make a stream in the first place.

I specifically state that there should be a delay. That's all. All that's needed is for each and every streamer in serious tournaments to do so and it becomes a non-issue. Don't read into this like I'm trying to piss on the holy grail or dig up the remains of the virgin mary to desecrate. This isn't about BP, steroids, or chess. It's about a solution to cheating to appease players and viewers with the essential need for "live streams" to help increase viewership.

Well the problem is modern streaming technology is built around the idea that they deliver as little as a delay as possible. And I have talked to every important person in both Ustream and Livestream before and they cannot add one.

This is why we did the ITL GP off of replays.

man it seems like these top zergs cant even touch LS's pure reaper strategy. They seem dumbfounded about what really to do against it. While watching, I noticed LS using his reapers in familiar spots over and over again on the maps. Knowing this, why wouldnt the zerg tech to banelings while researching burrow. Burrow 1-2 banelings in the spots that LS constantly abuses (the ramp area/side of the main) and just detonate them without unburrowing as he flies over top.

sheth tried this yesterday vs him and got destroyed by it still. D:

and in the game vs catz ls forces back roaches with perfect micro yet again, so roaches off creep dont work vs him either.

What are you roomates with him or something? Stop stroking. =)

In all seriousness, LS is going to turn a lot of heads if he hasn't already. Very skilled.

Oh, I'm aware of the issue. There was a bunch of debate about it both in the HDH and many prior tournaments in the past. I'm not saying it's easy, and I honestly don't know if there's an easy way to do it with ustream/jtv/livestream. But, it's something that has to be figured out if people plan to use those services for serious streaming of live events. Until then, as you came to the same conclusion, replays are the only safe way to do them.

Further, casting off of replays has fewer hiccups caused by caster/player/obs drama or delays for various reasons. Gives further credence to why iccup has their shit together.

Waiting for enough.
Bracket should be coming soon.

Yea, my opponent had no identifier information in their name or their profile, so I waited for them to contact me, but instead they just reported a ff win and got moved on in the brackets.
