Again, 45$ is NOT the entry fee for SC2 tourney, LanETS is a lan party BYOC that last 3 days straight open 24 hours each day of course where you have a space for sleeping (bring a pillow !) and thats whats the FEE is for. You pay, they give you a spot where you can put your computer at, connect you to the internet and provide you with food (pizza) and a huge lan gaming experience for 72 hours straight ! The tournamenet prize pool for SC2 is just a bonus. pizza isn't food wtf! xD

FYI, it wasn't supposed to be on the roster but after some talks with the organizers, we managed to take LoL out and bring SC2 instead. The reason the 1st prize is 400 $ only is a bit lame tough. I asked the game if we could do another prize pool structure but it isn't possible because for the CS tourney each member of the winning team takes 400 $ too. So it isnt possible to give more than 400 $ to a single person only.
The Fee is only to cover the costs of the LAN. Btw, it's not a WCG official tournament. It's a unofficial friendly tourney but if it's a success, i am pretty sure SC2 will be on WCG Canada game roster for 2011.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here or PM me.
You can't give me than 400$ to the winner because cs1.6 players would not get as much money? I know it is probably not your call but it sounds pretty dumb.
cs1.6 players get a free trip to LA. Just the plane ticket for LA worth more than 400$. How does that make sense.

Really want to go though I head to university on the 6th >< so not sure if I'll be able to.

You're relying that WCG will be picking up sc2, but you have no proof of it? Why would they suddenly stop supporting wc3, the most internationally competitive RTS? Not to mention they will most likely need a business arrangement with blizzard before they can even add SC2, it seems like you are putting the wagon in front of the horse here. Its truly upsetting the support WCG canada gives RTS games, and now with an over priced lan tournament, no wonder Canada is suffering so much. Please take into context that LanETS often drew 1.6 players from New York, and other states. The prize pool alone doesnt cover the travel costs, 1.6 players often travel together as well, so when they take home 2000$ a team, it does not hurt them as bad as 400$ / person, especially since a lot of 1.6 teams get their lan expenses paid for.
Anyways, ya you really did a shoddy job throwing this together, i guess im happy that it exists, but at the same time it sucks for any sort of grass roots creation, only players with a guaranteed shot at taking home the 400$ to get there. As for the experience, i can think of plenty things that 50$ + travel fees could get me that would make me plenty more happy than spending 72 hours with people that have bad hygiene in a room not big enough for 5 tournaments.
RTS should be at least 1/3rd of the 1.6 pool, the fact that Canada lans still dont understand this proves that we are still a long way away from being a competing nation.

Exactly. I tried everything in my power to change the prize pool but they won't budge.
@ Holcan : I am just the admin for the SC2 tourney. I had no word for the prize pool and whatsoever (That was a decision by WCG Canada) Because if i could, i would have done things differently for sure. And for now, i don't have clue if WCG will support SC2 in 2011. It's just pure speculation. I'll edit my post cause i think it's a bit misleading.

Yes, im not blaming you or kOre, as i mentioned i am happy that there is a Canadian tournament already, its just a shame. As for SC2 and WCG, its likely, but im not sure of the International lan business sense that blizzard will be taking, and as far as i know you need to contact them about everything sc2 related, and sc/wc3 didnt have those binding laws, so it may be easier to just carry with sc and wc3.
I didnt mean to rant on like that, i may even still go if i carpool with a couple teammates, its just in contrast RTS is just as demanding mentally, but you get less reward for the effort.

I totally agree with you. But the organizers dont really care about that it seems.
