This is my first attempt at a starcraft map, still a work in progress.
The map is in the Mar Sara tile set and features an easily defend able choke both at the main and expansion. The middle part of the map is where the battle for the third and money expansion will take place.

version 1.1
I have improved the map by extending the borders so there is another way to the expansion blocked by rocks. Also the red line is the map border, so no units can be dropped on the cliffs behind the main.
Removed the high yield minerals as i felt they weren't in the right place, instead i added two normal expansion on the edge.
The middle area of the map is still relative empty, because i want to get the layout right first.

This map is pretty cool.
I think it needs a couple more routes to take, because one path makes:
-terran mech OP -zerg surrounds hard -creativity hard -harassment hard -interesting games impossible
Also, you should add some expansions once the map gets bigger. I think this could evolve to a great map!

Will there be a problem with terran just going mech and pushing and controlling the entire middle of the map with the high yield expansion?
The center of the map is way to closed off to have a high yield expansion there IMO. It looks ridiculously easy for a terran to just seige expand to the high yield. I'd either remove the high yield expansion or make the center much more open.

It's funny, just about every map I see on here has comments mentioning that the map is going to make Terran mech OP. I'm not saying it's wrong necessarily. I'm just wondering if maybe the map isn't the real problem. Maybe the mech is the problem. Then again, I play mostly Terran so I hate to say that.
This map I could see being a bit of a problem because it's so small and only has one path that's easily siege-able, but some of the maps aren't so clear cut.
Basically I'm asking if people think the maps are the problem or if they're really just thinking mech is overpowered but not actually saying it.

I myself was worried about the choke favoring mech too, so maybe i will open up one extra route blocked by rocks to the expansion backside.

And @BigT maybe you're right about the high yield expansion. I will see if I can find another location for it if i expand the map.

Yeah, im actually in no way saying that mech is overpowered. I believe that the game itself is pretty balanced. Its just up to the map makers to make sure that they arent creating maps that favor one race over another. If balanced maps are produced, than the game will be balanced. Easy as that!

It looks pretty cool, but it also looks like it has a long way to go.
It's a bit bland at the moment, and you definitely need more expansions.
Also, all that flat high ground above the mains, wouldn't that make tank/thor drops really good, favouring Terran (as always saai)

It is the way some like to make maps. Good mapes tend to have narrow side passages and an open middle or any type of balance between open areas and narrow areas. Terran mech isn't good in these open areas because the army in general is immobile so you can backstab a base or flank.
Most of these new mapmakers like to make maps just all narrow passages without any reasonable way to flank.
Notes about the map: To be blunt, this map is just way too boring. You have a small choke guarding natural, big passage to base, and high yield in middle. No ways to flank if terran makes an effective wall because of the one passage.

So little resources and little room for flanking? This map doesn't feel ready to play.
