I was just thinking that, just like how the TLPD was initiated, with the 10 polls regarding statistics and teams.

NONE

Testie even when he was a part of the community was arrogant and short sighted when it came to the community on a whole.

Androide is the dumbest option I have ever seen. He doesnt know the name of half the "top foreigners" outside of russia. I wont even elaborate further, just no...

Draco is retired and was NEVER a community player. In fact he opted to play strictly with koreans and shun the community.. why name him as a captain for something that is definately community based?

Mondragon is the only viable choice of these. In fact he'd make the final cuts for a "real" list imo. Hes a great leader and has a general idea of the community. My only gripe is that he suffers from the Testie syndrome to a lesser degree. He thinks a lot lesser of a LOT ofplayers (sure they partly deserve it) but he also couples that with ignoring their results/progress which would make him an anti progressive leader.

He'd only take americans! bias! (just look at the replay list 7 of 9 in newest reps are american/canadian .)

What the hell do YOU know incontrol? I happen to know for a FACT, that there is a certain organization in Korea which is looking to form a new proteam. Could it be the same organization which recently sponsored a huge invitational tournament and have English casters? Could it be the same organization which I just recently interviewed, and they said they wanted more English content? Think about it, what would be the best way to attract the non-Korean market?

Don't get all pissy because you aren't in the running. Although the roster isn't set, so what do you know.

Hey hey hey,,, those replays are "american" heavy (no pun intended heh) because they are the ones I game with. If I have a bias its super critical of american players.

If I was given some kind of supreme power to chose from the entire non korean field I would put together the best damn roster/lineup etc EVER. The concession however is we WOULD have to be named team REAGAN.

I get damn pissy when 30 something year old power hungry whores of the intrawebs get information by way of they happen to be attached to a popular gaming site and they think this somehow 1. informs them of how things are and 2. they are worth the dirt they walk on. I got news for you my ginger friend: You may run a website but you certainly have NO FUCKING IDEA what the non korean scene looks like. In fact I happen to see / know you trash it every chance you get. You have ALWAYS said "this is a site geared towards professional gaming" NOT the lowely non korean community. So take your prefabricated pride and save it for an occassion when you are actually in the know!

Well forgive me for trying to raise some of the talents in the gutter that is the foreign community into the limelight. No offense, but in the past 5 years, what is the only event that has been in professional scope? Only TLT, nothing else comes close. It's about time the foreigners have more of a presence than once a year at WCG.

I dont give a shit about the foreign scene, you are right. I only care about the pros. If I can mold that into my vision, then I will.

Being as how I am not a slut and YOU are a NERD that isn't much of a surprise!

You want to HELP the foreign community by bringing into the limelight a former hacker, a recluse, a russian loud mouth or an actual candidate in mondragon? Wow. Thanks but no thanks. I prefer service as oppose to disservice. Maybe if you didnt get so stuck in your power vacuum you'd recognize that asking the people who actually know a thing or two may be a better policy than just spinning the preverbial bottle in your lil elitist MiR forum where horrible ideas are entrenched!

Lol are they being unserious? It's intense! Manifesto went for fast expo and inc responded with 9 pool. Manifesto responded with some clever goon and probe micro, but inc just hit him with a horrendous lurker push just before observers! What happens next :o.

I like the foreign scene much more than the professional, just because it seems more accessible to me. I've got to agree with what Incontrol said, all of these choices are dumb except Mondragon, I can't think of anyone who would do it better than him.

DEFINITELY TESTIE. No contest.

But it'd be good if some Korean could tell us what role the captains play. I think I have an idea of what it is, but I'm definitely not certain about it. It seems silly to have a poll about a concept that is vague to the foreign community without having a clarifying explanation of that concept.

Mondragon easily.

I'm not sure why you got offended mani. Incontrol posted his opinion and he definitely knows more about the topic than you, having been part of the foreign scene since the beginning and having been on a team with 2 of the players on the list.

Wow, so there's going to be a pro team made up of non kor's?

this is like on par of awesomeness as tasteless going to korea.

And I totally agree with Dissy being top candidate, leading ToT to the top and being the, arguably, best zerg outside of korea.

actually i agree with nony. testie has the best gamesense out of any foreigner i think, and has mastery of all three races. those types of things help a leader of a team a lot.

I agree with the comment above, but same could be said about Mondi. I've seen Mondi play some games with PATHETIC apm but pull it off all because of very well timed attacks and forward thinking. When I watch Mondi's games I always get a feeling that he's thinking a lot. This is the same feeling that I get from Legionnaire's games. These guys may not have the same mechanics as the Korean pros, but they're very capable strategically. We saw what improving mechanics did for Legionnaire. Perhaps Mondi can do the same? (in fact Legionnaire had EXACTLY the same, if not lower, apm before he went to Korea as Mondi does now)

BUT YES! THIS IDEA OF A FOREIGN TEAM??? I bet ACE is cheering... "yeeeey we don't have to come last every time! yaaaaaaaaaay!" I voted Mondragon as captain.

P.S. To all the people bagging "Arrogance". The Australia team had more arrogant players than you can shake a stick at. But it's because of this arrogance that Australia became top 5 in the world... all of it's players cared and played passionatelly for their country and their spot in the team... now nobody gives a shit.. but hey.. at least we have better manner????
I really wanted a bigger opponent, like Nate Marquardt, or King Neptune, or Zeus, or Zeus and Fedor, or Fedor on Zeus's shoulders, and they can both punch but only Zeus can kick.

THE SUPER LOLOLOL

Mondragon is a good choice obviously, hes also proven as a long time leader of ToT.
Personally Id nominate ret or MidiaN as they know what they're talking about gauging other players skills. However I dont know how active they are in the community now. Also Im not sure how they would do as "leaders", or "captain", as that requires more responsibility than necessarily picking the best players.

If draco isnt on the team my heart will be broken

draco in his prime had probably the best macro of any foreigner

it would be nice to see again

I vote Mondragon because his games entertain me the most. But an all foreign team seems silly to me? Now I don't know much about the foreign scene, but it seems like they'd do pretty badly, at least for a good while. I think it would be neater to have more of these "eSTRO challenge" type things, and get more foreigners on pro-teams.

Whats really the title of the captain? Picking the rest of the team? Making sure his team trains? Telling his teammates there weakness? I guess out of those choices Mondi... but really who knows

Carry On.

Oh and I guess Mondragon since he has a lot of experience running ToT.

Wow, Incontrol called someone else a nerd......... Beside that being a nerd is positive in my eyes. In many ways at least.

Androide..... What a joke. Have a Russian lead a foreign team. Nobody will give him any respect as he is already being ridiculed.
Draco.. Never seen him as a leader. I don't know him well, but is his English good enough?
Mondragon on the other hand has lead the best non-Korean team for the last 6 years and done a great job, with reasonably little scandal. ToT still exists it survived all this shit, while at the same time hundreds of teams have died. And all this without any 'sponsor' money.

I thought all of these people had quit StarCraft. And the idea of a all-foreign team is nice and all, but when they start losing 0-3 every round in proleague, and none of the players qualifies in indivudual leagues, its going to be a bit sad.

Mondragon does a great job leading ToT and he's my favourite foreign player, but shouldn't a team captain be a bit more involved and friendly towards the public? Because ToT seems to be more like a sect than most clans to an outsider.

Mondragon is a good leader and would do a good job, my only concern with him is that he uses favoritism ( of ToT members/friends ) a lot, just look at the german tv league right now where they asked him for which players to pick.

But then again I guess no leader can be 100% unbiased, and I can't think of a better choice than Mondragon in the foreign community.

Mondragon is not even interested in playing professionally in Korea, at least that's what he says in every single interview. I voted him nevertheless.

I am not very familiar with the international SC scene. But i think this is the most obvious suggestion and makes this attempt useless.

It is hardly to imagine that people who play in their spare time besides school or college can win against players who live in houses with other progamers and concentrate only on the game cause it is also a life perspective for them.

The popularity in Korea kept this game alive over the years. But for the old international players other things become inevitable more important as older they get during young people join newer games.

So i cant see any sense in this. Only that the Korean can praise their top players when they slaughter the foreign players and attract even more fans which again raises the market value for the organizers and sponsors. But from the point of view of the foreign players this is useless.
