i'm not sick of the game, i feel like the active players are all amazing, and i love the personalities we have from the streamers, to the casters, to the progamers themselves. i think the game is still good and I don't have negative feelings toward the game. the balance is bad right now, but i have hope that it will improve. however, i am not hopeful that we will see the same level of investment, particularly from blizzard. so i put negative. it would be nice to be proved wrong.

I feel positive so far. IEM and HSC are still going.I know on the pylon show they said the reason SC2 isn't on Dreamhack or MLG is because of WCS scheduling. If we lost WCS I'm sure we'd get other tourneys like MLG and Dreamhack

Oh plz, we all know its bullshit, that sc2 isnt on MLG or dreamhack because of scheduling issues...

I dont know how to feel. havent touched the game in 2 weeks, which is insane for me. I just feel too burnt out, when playing terran. for now id say negative. the game doesnt feel like fun anymore.

I feel positive about the game itself. I feel negative about Blizzard's support for SC2.

Feeling positive overall. There's still plenty of passion and financial support, and the balance team is attempting to address zerg domination. I'm also very happy that China brought team leagues back to the spotlight - it feels like they're trying to fill a hole that has been missing for a while in that regard.

My biggest concern is the stagnation of the Korean scene. Feels like every GSL is the same names over and over again.

Worried about Blizzard balance/design team, watching the changes they do to the game while a few are good like the obvious ones ( Swarhost nydus abuse / removing Infested Terrans ), outside of those obvious changes they seem to have no clue of how to balance or how to design good gameplay.

Blizzard had the entirety of Heart of the Swarm plus years in LOTV teaching everyone what a poorly designed unit the swarm host is and yet it still remains in the game, this is also where Infested Terrans enter the picture with the same problem, free units do not belong in Starcraft, you are adding another element of economy which the 2 other races do not have. (could get me started on Injects and mules aswell)

I believe the end of 2020 will be Zerg dominated with Terran close second and Protoss still left in the dust since they decided to keep screwing over Protoss in 2020 aswell. If they do remove Infested Terrans there might be a slight chance Protoss can perform well with Carriers and storm in the late game vs Zerg but I doubt they will remove infested Terrans.

Regardless of what happens after the next patch I trust Blizzard will do what they always do, if Protoss has something strong early in the patch it will be instantly patched before they can find a response to it, if Terran or Zerg has it might take a year+ to fix.

What do I base this on?

Carrier got nerfed hardcore before Zergs started to understand the strength of infested Terrans.

Immortal all inns a problem? Got nerfed fast, zerg solved the problem themselves and shut it down before the patch was even released.

These are only the latest, it is far from the first time it has happened.

I called all this early 2019, we are now closing in on December and the only thing Blizzard managed to do for 2019 was nerf the already weakest race Protoss to the ground because they were to busy listening to the complaints from ignorant twitch chat/biased streamers. Meanwhile, Zerg gets away with the most broken Meta SC2 has ever seen in its history.
Not to mention so many SC2 Pro's inability to even try to make unbiased opinions towards Blizzard, you wanna win I get it.

You need some people with real leadership/understanding and vision for the game Blizzard, you are not gonna find the answers if you keep looking to people with obvious bias for inputs. You need someone who truly understands the game and has a vision for great RTS gameplay.

The worst Global Finals ever certainly doesn't help. But still it's the on and only RTS eSports. So there will be coverage. But SC 2 is certainly not on the rise.
We had ASUS ROG back this summer which was awesome but the viewership was so bad, it's really sad to see.

Negative, I thought this year was going fine until the Nydus/SH strat started popping on every match-up, then Blizzcon finals was meh and the only thing we got was a new coop commander and deepmind stuff, it's not looking good.

I think the balance problem is really not a thing compared to the situation of blizzard now and there are less great players and the youngest generation of Korean who plays at top tier is 1997(8), still positive next year, not sure how future goes

As much as I love SC2 and BW, I don't trust Blizzard and I don't really even respect them anymore. I don't know what great blend of talent and direction they had when they made WoL, LotV, and BW, but they're either gone, have given up, or are being strong-armed by something inside the company.

Feeling negative just by seeing so many empty chairs and less crowd last Blizzcon - first they moved players from big arena to smaller one but still with booth, now they force players to play without booth like it's 4x4 game. Just compare 2016 finals (where Dark played) and this time you'll see the difference. Also production declined pretty bad.

No Blizzcon for BW is big blow too, they only made 2 (can't even call that Blizzcon because it's only bo5 match between two pros but still that was something) because game kinda was new'ish. Now only 3 devs run Remastered and they push updates half a year with 1% change. I got a feeling both games can fall apart.

Negative, I still love the game and I think it is greater than ever, but after recent events and the whole year filled with multiple rts devs being laid-off, i really feel that Blizzard will decrease the SC funding massively. And noone can deny that that will hurt our scene massively, especially the Korean scene. If GSL dies, it would shatter my whole life tbh.

SC2 is a much harder game to balance than BW inherently. Blazzard's lack of support is due to not enough people watching the game.. Although it has a pretty small following now, I don't think this will always be the case. As E-Sports evolves and grows it's audience so will RTS. Starcraft II already has the wheels in motion.

WCS is the Serral/Reynor show but that's a-ok right?

e-sports in general I think has gone down hill. Companies only support the games that make them money and blizzard has been too busy in the past pushing hearthstone, then heroes of the storm, and now overwatch. Them squeezing Starcraft into a 1 day event felt pretty crappy but the increase in the prize pool and the support the starcraft community still has around the world is good to see. I just wish the game got more attention. I blame riot games for pushing league into esports, all these companies now think that any game can be an e-sport if they push hard enough, completely oblivious to the balance and skill required.

We should get rid of WCS, or unlock region lock. We can now see that foreigners are on par with or better than Koreans right now.

I love Starcraft and will continue to play and watch it as long as it's there.I think the problem going forward is three-fold.

1) The e-sports viewing community wants what people want in every one of the biggest sports on the planet (soccer, basketball, baseball, hockey, etc.), teams. It is by far more enjoyable to root for a team than an individual player, who other than very rare exceptions, careers don't last long at the top. I think SC2, or SC3 at this point, needs a real team game focus in addition to 1v1, maybe two different versions of the game/balance.

2) New players. Let's be honest, whats the average age on TL, 30 maybe? I'm 36. SC2 is an old mans game haha. The scene needs to draw in younger players to replace the many retirements, and it needs to make big structural changes to draw in younger viewers.

3) Business model - Blizzard needs money to justify more development. I've spent about $140 bucks to play a game for 9 years, not great for them. I'd like to see even single units added to the game every so often. Something new to spur excitement in the game. Of course a full new expansion would be great too.

I'd feel a LOT better if Flux Vanes wasn't on the menu. What a stupid upgrade. Completely ruins every game it's in.
