Dreamhack WInter easily. So professional and smooth, and free streams in 720HD. And when you visit Dreamhack, you feel very close to the players and casters.

IEM was great, Grubby gave me a few too many heart attacks, but a damn fine showing by everyone who played. I have to say that overall BWC was my favorite though, gave a lot of opportunities to a lot of players, and I love that. The actual finals were average at best, (I'm not a fan of so much PvP, too much of any match-up can make you sick of it), but the event overall I very much enjoyed.

NASL was pretty good, but IPL5 had amazing games (possibly because it had much more in such a short time, plus it looks really well run)

Head: IPL5. In terms of sheer quality and quantity of games, combined with excellent production and the best line-up of talent makes it the best tournament of winter, and a serious contender for best tournament of 2012

Heart: NASL has managed to forge an incredibly unique identity based on entertainment, a quirkiness that always impresses and a good format that gives a lot of games with damn-good quality for a rather "indie" tournament compared to the IPLs and MLGs of the world. Caught my heart and always improves season by season. Looking forward to more NASL next year.

NASL 4 edges out IPL 5 because of the FFA. An hour of hilarity.

Other: NASL. I prefer the smaller structure for the finals so I don't have to be constantly flipping streams to see who's playing. Even if it isn't as many games, I know I can simply pop on the stream and see them all. Plus they do a great job of keeping you entertained during downtime. Granted I'll admit if they could have recreated Toronto for this finals it would have been way better, but from the stream watching perspective it was still my favorite simply for the enjoyment factor.

IPL5 I felt was too much of a good thing (still a good thing, don't get me wrong). Most of the other tourneys I have a hard time following (ie Dreamhack, BWC) due to timezone and me not really being able to pull all nighters anymore, but nowhere near their fault. And yes, I know VODs exists, but with all the content out there I find it hard sometimes to go back and watch a day long VOD.

MLG this year (outside of the KeSPA invitational) I felt just rode the wave of past success; not really changing much of a good formula. I feel like others are upping their game in small increments but MLG isn't. In short, they were enjoying being at the top without worrying about the other climbing up (which I feel they have).

Honorable mention to Iron Squid and always for Home Story Cup. Iron Squid did an amazing job for a rookie event, and Home Story Cup is always amazing ... the one Euro tourney I will ALWAYS make sure to watch ALL of the VODs for.

I loved watching the NASL, mostly due to the personalities which were present and all of the antics which went on. Hyun's massage to Golden was great.

I personally enjoyed NASL and Dreamhack the most I think, but maybe that's only because Hero won both of them

Ignoring the luck of player storylines, I think I was most impressed with IPL5 as a whole. They seemed to be the most ambitious heading into it with the scale of the event and all the extras going on, and they managed it pretty well.

NASL was probably still second best though, they ran that event SO CLEANLY. Very little unexpected downtime and precisely timed breaks made the event feel like a TV-level production. All the filler content was exceedingly well executed and enjoyable without detracting from the main event. Also, probably the least awkward feeling closing ceremony. Just an A+ event.

This poll makes me sad. It makes me realize how disappointing/boring SC2 has been lately. A month ago I was so hyped for all of these tournaments. Thinking back on them now I can barely think of any great games they had.

Im so happy that the code S finals wasn't here. It was close, but, i wasn't very impressed by the two players. Hyun on whirlwind was the only really fun game for me to watch. Part of this is that i am a terran, and my fav player is MKoP, and MKP beat both Sniper and Hyun, in some preety convincing games. It kinda sucks for MKP. last season in Ro8, he was against Life. Life's style counters MKP's style. This season MKP was against Ryung, who is, and has been for a long time top 5 TvT players.
I voted Mlg, because it was the last ZvZ game i enjoyed. The whole thing was fun, and the storylines were interesting.
For Life it was his first MLG
Leenock would have been the first and only 3 time winner
Flash woudl have been the first Kespa player to win
Bomber would have won his second Mlg, and would have joined the likes of Huk, MKP, DRG,and Leenock

IPL5 deserves the throne. Big prize pool (Battle.net World Championship had a bigger one), biggest player pool, most streams and games, good casters (NASL 4 too) and a loser bracket. So overall IPL5!

I think this is a great poll. As of now, Starcraft feels saturated with events. It wouldn't be bad to be able to see which ones people prefer so organizations have a way to gauge when they are doing things well.

I voted for MLG because I got to go to it and it was good to see everyone, but from a point of view from watching the streams, I think NASL and IPL had their good points and great games; they were good in their own way and I couldn't choose just one of those 2 ;P

I voted for IPL5 since NASL4 wasn't on the list, otherwise I'd probably have voted for NASL. Great, great production value now, and actual genuine humor, I love how NASL has finally shaped up to be one of the finest premier tournaments, able to hold its own with the likes of MLG, DH and IPL. They have a distinct and unique feel for their humor based style and lighthearted tone, I hope they work further to build upon their strengths, if they do they will go far.

Big credit to IPL5 too, they also managed to forge a distinct feel for their tournaments as well, that is, as the most stacked tournament ever, hope they also continue down this path.

IPL clearly, they had the best production by far. NASL was good at making it fun to watch, but i didn't enjoy the level of competition there as much. This poll is clearly not telling too much though, since some of the events are fairly long ago (even if it's just a month or two) and naturally the most recent ones come to your mind. But i'm positive i enjoyed IPL the most.

IPL5 was by far the most impressive in terms of skill.

Production was lacking but MLG was also very good as well.

Too many foreigners in the other tournaments, not very many top tier players and easy sweeps for the few Koreans.
It is hard to enjoy watching <100 apm, no map awareness, and average unit control. Especially when they play each other.

NASL5 should be listed. They did a great job and had the luck of having all three races represented in top 4, unlike most of the other premier tournaments.

If I were to look at production only I think IPL5 would be one to look at, but their event was a marathon and overall I wouldn't mind cutting the number of games to half of what they had. I lost interest in the final games (was a sad panda after Hyun losing GSL to not scouting a "hidden" base) and overall disgusted by the amount of ZvZ games :0.

Very strange that NASL isn't a choice.

Narrative wise, MLG was my favorite, but the production behind IPL was way better. Dreamhack is consistently staffed by the best in the business for pure human labor, but I didn't get to see it :/

My favorite was NASL4 - but partially because I'm biased towards Chance, the most amazingly handsome personality in eSports today. IPL5 would be second.

So far IPL5, but the upcoming Homestory Cup is going to dwarf everything.

It's hard to vote when there was like 1 terran semi finalist in the entire thing making them pretty poor spectacles... IPL5 for production though

IPL5 one upped Dreamhack, that being said these two had by far the best production this year.

...I am the 2%.

Seriously, Jarret Cale for fantastic host plus the most interesting result out of all these tournaments, plus the FFA there was great. I didn't vote for IPL5 just because I was there in person so it'd be a bit unfair to vote for it.

I guess 'Other' would get a lot more votes if people waited until after Homestory Cup ^.^

NASL is quickly becoming one of my favorite leagues. it has a good balance of foreigners to koreans. a smart format (where the finals are perfectly even as apposed to loosers bracket having to win two series) it has some great casters. and the group stages allow for a more relaxed viewing scenario. all in all a great production.

IPL 5 > MLG > Dreamhack = IEM > NASL > BWC
I think I put NASL low because I didn't really watch much... WCS Europe would probably beat all of these, but it wasn't this November/December

Gotta go with Dreamhack - IPL felt like it had soooo much going on, making it quite hard for other timezones to follow.

64 man double elim with 72 players in it with an absoloute INSANE lineup, the most stacked tournament in a long time, but alot of games were not shown and I felt like alot of the storylines were lost because of the incredible amount of content.

If IPL maybe didn't have GSL and World Cup going on the same weekend, maybe it would be different, but it feels to me like 72 player double elim is just too much in one weekend.

This is probably #FirstWorldESportProblems but the event just didn't captivate me for those reasons.

Dreamhack and NASL were both really well done, but gotta go with Dreamhack.

NASL takes the cake on this one. They def deserve a spot in this. Production was out of this world, minimal downtime, awesome casting, and great filler content / content in general!!

Other, NASL.

IPL had great production for sure, but NASL had so much entertaining content, great casters and great matches, and almost no downtime at all. I had tons of fun watching that.

MLG Fall -- it was the first event I have attended to this date and easily the best experience I have had with e-sports; especially the moment Life won.

Biased? For sure, but I can't give any other answer.

MLG by far, to me the mvp invitational build up a lot of hype and watching flash live up to that hype was great, plus seeing halo at an mlg again was amazing.
IPL5 would have to be second though, just the sheer amount of content even though I still feel like ro4 and finals shouldn't be played on back to back days with all 4 players also playing another tournament...

But I'm also biased as fuck having watched mlg for 5+ years now, to me their events are always by far the best.

Agreed with PhoenixVoid ^^. There were so many participants in IPL5 that were the best in the world, which created a lot of competition. However, NASL4 definitely had the best production and was the best to watch. Great job to them on their skits and production overall.

The production was nearly the same for IPL5, Dreamhack, and NASL. The thing that made DH better was they didn't have to say "heyyy we're doing FREE HD this time" and although it sounds dumb, free chat.

Yes, there are a lot of trolls in free chat but when something amazing happens that rarely does happen, and the chat goes crazy, you get nerdchills. You actually feel like part of the community in a non-ppv chat. (IPL5 said they had free full hd, which is 1080p, when they actually had 720i) Don't get me wrong, spending $10 or $20 for a season of being able to chat and watch in HD (which dreamhack already offers for free) may be great for some people, but I don't support segregating the community like that, when you could do the same exact thing, without having to go into fan's pockets..

People may counter-argue that IPL or NASL can't run if there are no subscriptions... All I'll say is LOL because if they have enough money to put up around $80k in prize money, don't you think they can spend $2-4k on production?

Cliche, yet IPL5 was just so well done and AWESOME to watch. Not that any of the events here are bad, as I loved to watch them all, but IPL reached out not only to the e-sports watchers, but those who are not familiar with playing games competitively.

NASL was more enjoyable... it had more personality, and a more intimate feel just based on the sheer amount of games. I felt more invested in the games because of the incredible setup by the production staff and Frodan's recaps of each player.

Of course the FFA was one of the most entertaining games of televised Starcraft to date. As well as almost every series played being of the highest caliber going the distance with great games all around.

IPL5 was my choice for this for all the obvious reasons. GOM produced. Toughest bracket in history (even tho I agree with Naniwa the seeds into round 4 or something crazy far in was complete bullshit).... and it was fun until it became weekend of the Zerg.

But NASL should be up there and I'd vote for it. This is the way SC2 tournaments should be designed going forth. The IPL and MLG format of cramming all the games into one weekend is overwhelming for both the players and the viewers. NASL and GSL format brings the most hype when the live event finally happens.

pretty sure DH winter would be #1 if it was the latest event.
IPL was pretty cool tho, but imo with too many koreans so it was boring to watch in the end.

Don't feel like anyone of these except maybe IPL5 can fight for the top spot vs Dreamhack. I mean the production quality was superb at Dreamhack, Calling barcrafts over skype, great hosts. Free 720p.
Just my opinion tho

Too many non-Koreans at DH made it incredibly boring for me, like 3 decent players, none of which I particularly like :/.

IPL had much better players, awesome production and some decent casters.

If I could I'd just choose GSL, but it isn't an option .

I chose Dreamhack because it was fun from start to finish, while IPL 5 with its sick production started off rather bland.
