aLive July Zenio MKP.

aLive, great solid macro terran always be affraid of aLive!
mkp, guy can turn it on and beat u within 10minutes
July, after his up and down showing the guy could be back
Zenio, proved that he isn't that far off the pace from recent IEM results.

Although jjakji, didnot look like anything special i feel like he will deliver this season

and i dont think there is group of death, there is like 1 death player per group which guarantees interesting secondary groups

Kind of confused about the number of votes for Group H (Parting Polt Fin Oz). In my opinion that's one of the weakest groups. Are people overrating Polt because of his foreign tournament result(s)? Or do they think he's going to pull an MMA?

Oz, Parting and Fin have shown they they are solid players, but every group has its fair share of those. Regardless of what you think their potential is, these guys haven't really proven themselves to be GSL threats as of yet, so I'm kinda confused how you can say they make up a harder group than one like A.

It's definitely Group A, but I'm really surprised that Group D has so few votes. GuMiho, HerO, and Curious? That's really tough, someone good is going to get bounced out of that. Amazing that a group with Virus and InCa has gotten more votes than Group D, imo.

I voted for H because it's the group with the highest overall level of talent, most of the other groups have 1 or 2 players that are really scary and the rest I would be shocked if they got very far at all. Group H however doesn't fit this mold, it has 4 extremely solid players that wouldn't surprise me if they won the entire tourney (3 players who've gotten very far in the past and Fin who wouldn't surprise anyone with a huge run.) That's why group H stood out to me but I see your point as well.

B- Seed looked scary as hell against IM, and Supernova cheesed his way out of the Up and Downs
D-Probably
E-Virus and Inca are resurgent and Nestea still seems to be slumping
F-Nada hasn't preformed lately, Squirtle 4-0ed in the up and downs, and Leenock is top 3 zerg in the world still
G-Probably but don't count Naniwa out for an upset
H- OZ did well in winter arena and was a recent top 4 finisher in the GSL, Fin has the talent to be the best player in the world at any moment (Impossible to call this group IMO)
A- My call would be DRG thestc
C-MKP and..someone

Group A beats Group F by a small margin. DRG vs Taeja/Jjakji is going to be sick good and TheSTC has proven that he has top-caliber potential. If Leenock/Nada/Squirtle show their best then F will probably be a better group.

H looks like the toughest group. I feel bad for naniwa and his group though, if he makes it out of that I'll be impressed.

I feel like it's just a matter of time until Fin, Oz, and Parting all have some big wins under their belt. Polt already has some and I can see him getting more.

Well it's def. group a, but overall it looks decently even. And yeah I'm not expecting Naniwa to get out lol that's a mad hard group, probably third hardest overall (after group A and group E). That said he's beaten MVP before, so it's not impossible...

Parting, Oz, Polt, and Fin are going to give such insanely good competition. I'm really looking forward to what Tastosis says about Oz vs. Parting, since Oz has made it clear that he thinks PvP is the clearest indication of a Protoss's skill.

I really want this to be Parting's season. His play in 2012S1 made me respect the player SO much.

A-F-H/G-E-C-B-D

you guys are really overvaluing MC/Nestea... Also B>D, because Genius > Gumiho and the rest is about even. the most exiting group is H, because everyone in that group is strong.

I voted the group A.Even if DRG's TVZ is awesome, his TVZ is more than 64% of winning percentgage. But it means that the other three terran guys will try their best to aim at him.So DRG must focus on all his attention to have combats with them, especially Jjakji.

I think that group F is the hardest.
For group A, I think DRG is no contest win. so it boils down to TvTs.
Group C could be potentially the hardest if all perform their best, hardest to predict by far (Alive July Zenio MKP)

MMA, Squirtle, Leenock and Nada I would say.
Also I think people are undererstimating Maru and Gumiho.

Im saying group F. MMA is... well MMA, Nada is a solid player, Leenock is an unpredictable volatile zerg and Squirtle (last tier in the group) Destroied his Up/Down group and is one of my favourite protoss ever

Voted for A as it has the highest overall skill level imo.
Its a pretty nice group for DRG though, yeah his opponents are tough but ZvT is his best matchup and he only has to practice the one matchup. I would imagine hes pretty happy about his group.

these "group of death" debates are getting more and more heated as the level of competition keeps improving (or leveling out)... i propose we start talking about the weakest groups :D

I'm going to say group D looks weakest...

(oh yeah, and A is the hardest).

I went with G just because i think that its a group of darkhorses that are amazing + MVP who is always great. Though it may not at first glance look like the group of death, i think that it is going to basically turn out that way.

Nobody is going to say parting isn't really, really good, but I'm confused where this super high opinion of him comes from. I don't follow him much, but all I know of him is he pulled off a crazy protoss build that everyone copied for like 2 weeks before zergs started blind countering it and stomping people who used it. It doesn't seem enough to go on to then be saying he's super incredible. At least, not to the degree of Polt, who my gut feeling says stands tall in this group.

Can't believe so few voted for group B. Supernova is (with Inca) oGs' ace, Genius is 2nd of last season which was so stacked, Seed is the best protoss in IM and boong is the ace zerg from prime.

got 3-0d by MMA...lost to killer...and won average TvZ of Supernova... nothing special for Code S...

hes generally pretty solid, i would say hes an avg code S terran (i.e damn good)

This is the pinnacle of Code S so far. So many good players, not nearly a single one doesn't belong ...

Voted for group A without even reading the rest. Any group with Taeja or DRG in it will be considered the hardest. Also, lol @ people calling Alive a macro terran. It's true that he has no problems playing a longer game but he became feared for his incredible rushes (which he still pulls off regularly).

I think he's quite happy about it.
He only has to practice 1 matchup and it's a matchup he's really good at

Impossible to say which is the hardest. Most groups has two absolutely stellar players and two other great players. None of them really stick out to me, but I'll obviously keep my eye on Naniwa's group more than any else.

All the groups look very impressive, although I would have to vote for Group H. This is because I honestly think they're all very similar skill levels and all 4 of them you can easily foresee them reaching top 4. Most of the other groups have 2 favourites to come out, I think Group H has no favourites.

I would LOVE to see DRG vs Jjackji in group A.

Group F hardest one.

Poor Stc finally gets to Code S and ends up in this sick group.
Even though people think DRG will roll his group - it will be hard for him. All his opponents are extremely talented, Jjackji has excellent TvZ, Taeja has to show his true potential in GSL, but is nonetheless one of the best(and most underrated) terrans out there and you can never count out TheStC(Im a bit wooried for him - his TvZ looked quite shaky lately).

I feel that jjakji has been underperforming recently, with that in mind I'd have to go with group H. Although groups E and G should be close (along with many of you I will be rooting for naniwa even though his chances don't seem that great ;x). If "Fin" performs well I feel that this is the hardest group to predict, Parting Oz and Polt are just sooo strong...

I swear people just look at big names and vote for that group. Though it has MC and Nestea, there is no way group E is stronger than H. There isn't a weak player in that group, any of them could get out and each of them is one of those players that could really take anyone on in the way Virus and Inca aren't.

I have no idea why people is voting group A, it's insanely easy, compared to the other groups.
Group C, man. July just recently has been top dawg once again!, Alive, just look at his performance at GSL last season, that was absoloutly amazing play, Marineking - nothing more to say, the kong of sc2. and Zenio, worst player in the group, but still a solid player having proven himself worthy of code S time and time again.

Agree or not about Group C, but anyone who got any proper knowledge of sc2 in it's current time, will know that Group A is just childs play!

With MKP, july, alive and zenio you never know how they'll play due to their inconsistencies. MKP has finally won something and alive is making deep runs. Zenio and especially July can cheese or macro at any turn. It's the hardest group to predict because any two can make it out.

what? i voted A as well and i'm quite sure DRG won't have an easy time in that group...

Jjakji is a Code S winner, Taeja probably the best "newcomer" and one beast vs Z (atleast from what i saw. his stats don't seem to tell that) and TheStC is pretty good as well.

Group F looks the toughest to me. DRG is the scariest, but the rest of Group A isn't as good as the rest of Group F.

Lol, i think ppl just read first group and picked it, without looking at the others, because it's so stacked!

Picked H, that's a pretty sick group, might not have the BEST player, but in average skill.

Group A is incredibly hard for everyone except DRG and having 3 people fight for 1 spot is much worse odds then 4 ppl fighting for 2 spots. I also think its a real toss up for those 3 terrans.

I dont think you have much of an argument w/ getting 3-0d by MMA possibly the best player in the world at the moment. Killer yea thats pretty bad though Supernova is pretty good so Id say he actually is pretty good for Code S. An didn't he make it to the rd. of 8 :l

Oz, Parting and Fin have shown they they are solid players, but every group has its fair share of those. Regardless of what you think their potential is, these guys haven't really proven themselves to be GSL threats as of yet, so I'm kinda confused how you can say they make up a harder group than one like A.

There's almost no doubt who's going to come out of group A, and I'm pretty sure that's what the question is.

Wow all these groups are pretty well balanced in my opinion, although I would swing towards saying Alive, MKP, Zenio and July is the hardest.

Sure, DRG is good, but in terms of all around difficulty it's for sure this group.

Group A isnt the hardest group imo DRG will go through easily the next spot can be grabbed by any of those 3.

Group H is the hardest to predict but not the toughest

Its not about how strong the players are individually in the group but how evenly matched they are that makes it a hard group for the players involved.
