Who's going to finish lowest in WCG on this list?

I'll say Blackman... I'll discrimnate against him because I have heard of him the least

Hmmmmmm, tough choice! Grrrr owned WCG Canada so easily and I'd like to see him do well but I'm not sure he's quite in the same class as Naz, Boxer and Yellow. I've haven't seen enough replays of Yellow to be that sure about him and I think Boxer will have lost a bit of confidence after playing Reach so my money (if I had any :p) would be on Nazgul . Go Naz!

As an aside, anyone got any decent replays of Yellow as 90% of Yellow replays I've found have been soooooo fake.

It would be nice to see naz winning, but he's going to have a hard time against those korean zergs and terrans. I really hope/expect he's going to make the top 5 again, but my pick goes to the boxer. ^.^ Those koreans have so much experience ;P

so u got boxer elky froz and oddy.
boxer owns elky.
froz will lose to zergs early.
oddy will lose to yellow, boxer or elky once he comes out of his group.

I think a zerg player may win it this year based on the maps. Yellow or the new-and-improved Junwi have a shot. Blackman's said to be excellent, but don't think he compares favorably to the best zerg players from Korea. Boxer will ALWAYS be a contender in Big Games. Watch for the guy in the finals.

Dream Final: Boxer v Nazgul. Man, talk about breaking onto the scene in style. Nazgul would be the talk of the town if he pulls it off.

Im Kinda sad to See so few votes for Elky and Odd. Elky and Odd have clearly show themself to be better gamers then Froz and Grrr(of late anyway).I know all Us USA and cannda want to see Froz and Grrr win But its Who do you THINK will win. Not who do you WANT to win. You cant realy beleave Froz or Grrr could win can you?

I think Boxer will win, he's the type of player who comes back more focused after a defeat. I don't think his loss to Reach shook him, more than it refocused him. Of course, we'll see won't we? For example if you look at the Boxer vs Nazgul reps on the site, Nazgul wins the first two matches but Boxer just rips up the next three games coming with three different strategies. No offense Naz

Well it would be a pretty goddamned boring poll if we voted who we thought was most likely to win, everyone would vote for a handful of players.
The fact is that every gamer there has a shot at winning it so I think ill let my own sentiment creep in when making that call.

let's look at the maps.

jungle.
z > t (by alot)
z > p
t >= p (drop = strong or very strong depending on spots)
zerg and terran map with z raping t.

valhalla.
p > z
p = t
t > z
protoss map, with t being playable and z being unplayable.

legacy.
z > p
z > t
t > p
zerg map with terran raping protoss due to excellent tank coverage and short push. tvz is playable on this but not by much.

temple.
t >= p (spots are very important)
z >= t (z12 = VERY bad)
z > p
it's temple.

z>p on legacy because of drone elevate to the isles .
z>p on temple by more then slightly .
z>t on temple except when z is 12 or maybe 3 .

z12 is bad for zvt because you HAVE to 3 hat. boxer vs mrx last wcg is a classic example of what happens when t knows you are 3 hatting .

I think zvt is pretty much balanced at temple except for 12 vs 3, then t>z.

WCG maps are just really bad for p.. unless it's best of 3 and both may pick a map (this means protoss can pick Valhalla against zerg), but if the maps are drawn like last year there's a huge chance z>p at whatever map comes out.

Actually it's nice to see some people have a vision of other players winning. It's a nice illusion and makes the poll worthy althought it's most certainly gonna be boxer or yellow

Reach isn't in WCG. It has yet to be proven anyone other than Reach can beat Boxer.

I think that there's no way Grrr will pull this off. Someone was using the WCG Canada games as examples to his skill, but wtf, it's not like he was playing vs all gosu people in Canada. Ill is, as far as I know, relatively unexperienced compared to him, Smuft quit and the dude he played in the finals - Mission? - wasn't all that good, imo. You should instead look at his win/loss record the latest six months in Korea, which I believe is going towards larger % loss than win. He was really amazing once, but he's old and worn now, he's admitted several times over that he's tired of BW. And, finally, for Grrr to really shine he has to face toss. Fat chance.

I don't think either Froz or Blackman can really do good in there, because what I've seen from them isn't good enough to defeat players like Yellow and Boxer, plain and simple. And the Brazilian guy....

Finally, we have the following: Yellow, Boxer, Junwi, Elky, Nazgul and Oddysay. Two zergs, one toss and three terrans. I am fairly certain Junwi will face defeat in the face of any of these, Elky or Boxer in particular. Oddysay is soooooo good recently, but his tvz is questionable, at least compared to his tvt, so I predict he will go down vs Nazgul or Yellow.

Now... Boxer can die. Oddysay has a *killer* tvt and has proven himself able to give even Boxer some SERIOUS competition. Yellow can easily lose in the face of a vengeful Elky and a concentrated Nazgul. Hell, everyone can lose, and everyone of this final listing can, imo of course, win. I just think that it's more reasonable to assume that Boxer, Yellow, Nazgul or Elky will.

But: I see two lackings in this list. First of all, Fisheye. Second, sVEN. I know that Fisheye is going, and he's an awesome player online, and has proven himself live as well. I seriously think he can be a wildcard, together with sVEN, if he's going. Not many of you, I guess, know of sVEN - he's Slayer's friend and in my view not the follower of him, but his replacer. sVEN is *very* good if he just gets his act together.

So there you go.

what the fuck is junwi and oddy doing all down there? Junwi just beat up ElkY and Xellos, not to mention Nal_Ra and a ton of other gosus in the preelims. Oddy finished 4th at NATE, and are now qualified for yet another staleague.

I was using the WCG Cananda games as an example of his skill as they weren't even close, he comprehensively destroyed everyone he played. Sure they weren't that good but he showed he's not playing at anything like the same level as they are, I didn't say he would win but he showed some skills and you can never completely dismiss someone that's been around for that long. I'm hoping he'll do quite well, that's all .

Nal_ra and Xellos are both relatively untested (yes, I am aware that Ra has been around for a few months) and I don't feel that you can really determine a players skill based on beating them. Elky, on the other hand, is quite a feat, but unless Junwi can show that he can consistently beat people like Boxer and Yellow, I'm not buying into him. I've already posted my thoughts on Oddy.

Redmeat: I never said he wasn't skilled, that would be an idiotic statement. I don't feel he can pull anything off on WCG tho.

Nazgul: Didn't Norway send people aside Slayer last year...? I'm fairly sure sVEN was around in WCG then, or am I completely lost? And as far as I've experienced, a LOT of wannabe know-it-alls hasn't heard of either sVEN or Fisheye, or you for that matter.

We cant underestimate Grrrr... Just look at last year in WCG. everyone thought he was old and washed up then but he pulled off a 6-0 record in his pool beating alot of great players. such as sven, maynard, sobad[rush], maddi[pg]
you may have seen some of his recent replays where he has beaten Nada, Elky, kimdongwoo, i remember watching a vod 2-3 months ago of him beating TheMarine. We've seen him take out many top names and for him to do it again wouldnt surprise me. I mean what does he have holding him back? more experience than last year? you might see replays of him bein beaten on battle.net. but does he really try his hardest on bnet? how many times have we seen Grrrr... pull through and win tournies when they count

I did my research and put together some interesting facts about Grrrr.. and WCG play for him
the last 2 years. Grrrr... is 19-2 in WCG play both in Canada and in Korea.
his 2 losses are once to CQ~2000 (his 2nd 'loss' to 2000 was disqualification due to grrr being late coming back from a talk show.)
and his other loss was one of his games vs Yosh in a best of 3 WCG Canada final last year.
So Grrrr... to me looks like a WCG Emperor!!! Look out.

Anything could happen with so many great gamers...but I'll go with yellOw. He made short work of Elky recently, and seems more stable than the unpredictable Boxer. Havent seen much of Naz's PvZ(mainly PvT)so I dunno how hed match up to yellOw.

Junwi, Oddy, HK, Grrr are great also, but I think yellOw could take them

I say unpredictable because sometimes he plays like an unbeatable "God"...and other times as a possibly beatable "good". Like when he falls in slumps now and then, and loses matches people greatly favored hed win.(although this is rare, it does happen). But if hes focused and not stressed, he will more than likely be the "god" we saw last WCG..but then again maybe not

Remind that Grrrr... played 5 PvP (His best match up) and 0 PvT(His worst match up). I think that in the wcg, Grrrr... will loose to terran players and win against the rest. So let's hope that there's not that much T player in his pool .

I'm sure that X'Ds~Kiwi had a chance to kill him in WCG Canada, he is just too amazing and he is also a TERRAN player. Unfortunately, he didnt have the chance to face him .

Conclusion: Grrrr... FEAR TERRAN USERS and that piss me off!

Hmmm...by looking at the poll, it seems ppl have not taken into acct the current trends...

Firstly,...
Grrrr.. doesnt seem better than elky, and odd
and the fact that naz, even though he made be skilled as people say he is,...but imo i dun think he has the experience of vsing pro-gamers
everyday like boxer, elky, yellow, odd, junwi
final note, froz, grrr.., naz, blackman > elky????
Live and let live...

hehe

Junwi & Oddy, two players almost sure to make top 5, are at the bottom

Naz currently >> Yell0w. If this was Yell0w's page, things would for sure be different

ElkY, fresh off a recent 4th place in the world's toughest tourney, has less votes than a "newb" blackman. I'm sure blackman has a great zerg and all, but he don't own HOT up and down 24/7 - he would probably look like a fool vs NATE champ Sync, and he would not even last 5 min vs Oddy.

Oh well, good luck all - and espec you naz~~~

Ok why does Oddysay and Junwi have only 4% of the votes? The poll is who do u think will win WCG not who do u want to win WCG. It Should be Boxer,Yellow,Oddysay,Elky,Junwi,Nazgul,Blackman,Froz,Grrrr,HK. Offcourse this poll doesnt even have some of the players that IMO r better than half these players. Naz is good, but please dont pick him over Yellow or Oddysay or even Elky Please. Thats just ridonculous.
only player i havent seen play or heard much of is HK, whos he?
P.S - Boxer's prolly gonna win it again, i know los of ppl hate T players and Boxer, im one of these ppl, but when the guy is focused, he cant be beat, and i have a feeling hes gonna be focused for the WCG.

Precisely what I posted earlier, Boxer is pretty much unbeatable when he's focused. Perhaps that match vs Reach was a fluke? I mean Nada beat Reach 3-0. So who knows. Starcraft is a game of styles and luck, maybe Boxer just has a style vulnerable to Reach's. Not to take anything away from Reach, he played awesomely. I just think Boxer's got a lot to prove after such a devastating defeat, and he's going to take it out of the WCG players. In short, Boxer's like a hurricane looming dark off the coast, you can see him coming, but there just isn't a lot you can do

Batten down the hatches, suckahs!

nada is the best attacker in the game. if anyone's a hurricane it's nada.

boxer is best defender and strategist.

reach's pvt is very defensive which gives boxer problems since boxer tends to underpower slightly to attack faster. reach also dual techs pvt which boxer seems to have trouble dealing with.

Nice insight Casper. Puts into perspective Reach's superb reactions to Boxer's attacks and drops. As soon as Boxer tried many of his typical precison attacks, which would have severely hurt most other players, Reach swoops down with a ton of forces, crushing the attack.

map had a big part to do with it too. boxer couldn't put up turrets on his 2 pushes due to terrain issues. just like vortex.

Boxer will win easy... Now it's just a matter of getting hot. Do you remember Brazil in the soccer's world cup ?... First round is allways the most complicated for the player's finals. SuKeR will be the revolution --->

first i would like to say if boxer gets through there is no way a zerg player will win because boxer has like 90% win ratio over them and did u see what he did to poor yellow? ;]

So nice to read this poll ! 2002... The first year I started playing SC...
So we had Boxer vs Elky in final if I remember correctly? Or it was in 2001?
This would be nice to see people talking about this old area.
Boxer remains the best BO inventor of all time.
