Its gotta be SC2 on the main stage! Big moves for Western eSports! Shows that we actually care about good games!

I picked Destiny just because he has sooooo many followers ( myself included) but i would have to say Huk having to battle through hoards of players and IdrA vs Root are going to be the main focus.

ZERG FIGHTING!!! haha

Interested to see if Cruncher can do it on LAN but SC2 mainstage is a close second for sure.

Hmm, I think the biggest storyline so far has been the tournament format. All the top players playing in groups and their proportionally huge chances to win the tournament as a result of being seeded. No?

Maybe so far but I think the poll is asking which storyline will be most interesting to follow as the weekend progresses.

For me it's HuK trying to battle through the open bracket...he needs to have a chip on his shoulder from the way he played in GSL WC.

Huk in Open Bracket no contest. Considering how MLG decided to separate their top 16 seeds so they won't be eliminated by the rest of the entrants early and guaranteeing them top 24. It'll be interesting to see how far the previous #1 seed will go running the gauntlet the others have been spared from.

I am excited to see Destiny because I think he might be the future of zerg. His use of infestors and his general creativity put his play at a higher talent ceiling, and I think he might be one of the top zergs in the world in a year.

I think it's a tie between Destiny debuting and HuK fighting through the Open bracket.

Imagine the fanboy outcry if he were to lose there :O

HuK and SC2 main stage are the biggest ones in my mind, even though I think that HuK arriving at last minute is more shocker!!
With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

I must have missed some huge event or something... because I don't know who Athene is, and I thought Destiny was just someone that likes to stream their SC2 games.

Anyway, I picked TLO playing Terran because it's about time he had another big tournament showing and sticking with Terran is probably the right way.

IdrA said root had a lot of (not all) mediocre players

now root wants to beat him and prove him wrong

It's not really "Drama" its more of idra issued a verbal challenge, which people should NOT be mad about, it will make the sets more interesting.

I have a feeling TLO will show the world several new styles of terran in various matches. In his interview, TLO was pumped for playing a single race; a motivated TLO focused on a single goal is a fierce foe to behold. He is a creative genious and when he hits his target, he does so in a spectacular and destructive manner.

IdrA needs to be given the whoop-ass of his life for being a dick. But sadly the chances are that even if he loses, he wont learn from it, blame blizzard and the game and continue being a pathetic individual for the rest of his life.

He just doesnt deserve the fanbase and following that he currently has. Morrow and Dimaga are 10x more skilled and more humble than him.

Can someone explain ROOT vs IdrA? Has something already happened or are we just anticipating drama after IdrA steamrolls through all of ROOT gaming?

Edit: nvm, 3 posts above explains it all. LOL idra is so awesome.

I just love how IdrA seems to be setting himself up as a Villain. He just needs to get back into the right from of mind back into the game so he can become the super villain of SC2.

I am also looking forward to see how well destiny will do as his stream is damn fun to watch, as well as TLO playing Terran as main (ffing finally) as again he is very entertaining
.

I am also a massive Tyler fanboi so I can't wait to see him pown some boney nerd ass.

Yes, many spectators consider him the villain. Both fans and haters non-fans see him both winning gloriously and getting crushed crunched horribly.

I don't think that he intentionally fuels the drama, he just speaks his mind.

Destiny uses overlords as retard magnet. He orders roaches from someone called Jimmy to a victory march. He coaches lesser zergs how to scout and defend a 2-rax bunker rush on Xel'Naga Caverns. He is swearing all the time, but actually has a good strategical insight of the game.

I'm looking forward to see idrA kicking some ass. Just saw Jinro vs idrA on gomtv (Code S from jan 19) and idrA stomped Jinro. I hope he brings that kind of play to the MLG and not how he played in the TSL 3. Think the gracken can produce some good results.

Hope he gets to kick Drewbies ass, that guy is such a douche.

Definitely the thing I'm anticipating the most until the later rounds start. Any of the pros vs Athene, I really hope they cast that match up. I'd be nice to see if his building placement, playstyle, and apm are all really the same as Kiwi live.

And oh my god, the story. Winner interviews with Athene if he takes out pros? I imagine that'd be as entertaining as Moman's NASL application video.

Idra will need some luck, seeing how Jinro has crushed Idra since January and recently lost to Drewbie and other ROOT guys in some clan wars. Dno why you guys like Idra so much, he isn't even that good looking

Grubby competes! I'm really certain he will have a great developement, even more so because he's already involving himself into so many tournaments, cups and leagues.
I mainly want to see Grubby and AtheneWins, who I believe is just a big troll - or perhaps a seriously damaged gaming genius? We will see...

I don't believe Grubby to have good chances though, so far. But his developement will continue rapidly, I'm certain. It's to be expected that the level his skill will begin stagnating at will be very very high and is yet to be reached.
When they were introduced, he made a witticism, hoping to be liked. She laughed extremely hard, hoping to be liked. Then each drove home alone, staring straight ahead, with the very same twist to their faces.

I doubt that Athene will be there, if he really is there then i doubt he'll make it very far.
It would be stupid for him to show up after putting out a ton of videos stating that he is the Jesus of gaming and then get eliminated quickly, imo he has no chance of succeeding.

It's nothing. Idra insulted some people in an interview, as he is wont to do, and those people happened to be ROOT. Catz responded by pointing out the blatantly obvious fact that this is nothing more than a PR stunt to hype the event and give a sidestory to this MLG. That's the entirety of the idra vs ROOT "drama." It's completely stupid and what's worse is people are buying into it. Drama can be good when it arises organically but when shit like this happens it's frankly pathetic.

I don't understand how sc2 on the main stage is even an option. Is there some other place it could be? The only reason it wasn't on the main stage last year was because it came out halfway through the season so it wasn't officially on the circuit.

Most interested in the new Europeans incoming, specifically my hero Grubby. I don't think he's prepared enough to massacre through the gauntlet of MLG with their horrible format for newcomers, but it's only a matter of time before Grubby is on the top of the starcraft 2 scene.

has to be Grubby in sc2.... the guy is an icon to wc3 players and wc3 players make up alot of the sc2 fan base right now. his transition into sc2 is a huge story for me and im sure many others.

top 5 story lines for me

5 Team Liquids stuggles
4 EG the pressure on them to perform on the big stage
3 SC2 as a whole vs the FPS games
2 Root players and the Root gaming house, will there practice show in results
1 Grubby and has he improved to the point of competing against the best
Evil Geniuses needs a LoL team.... Pobelter/Altec fan

What about "SeleCT against the world" ? He had one of the sickest group, managed to win 4-0, and nobody talks about him ... I'm not even sure MLG managed to stream one of his matches. I really wanted to watch his games but it seems like nobody really cares about him. Why ? Because he doesn't have a SC1 story. He is still one epic RTS player and a major figure in RTS gaming. I know any dawn of war player roots for him right now, as i am. Yet, nobody cares.

Other: so bad in so many new and disappointing ways.

Lag, regame after a game had finished and a player gg'd, no commentary for spectators at the event after day 1, delays, delays, delays, taking 6 hours of a dead stream to realise that casting from replays would be a good idea.

or

Other: hilarious pics in the MLG day 2 thread to turn simmering mob hate into laughter after a 2 hour ingame pause.

Constant stream problems is the main story, but the ragequit to a hallucinated army will remain a part of SC2 history forever.

Other..

It's nice to have something to else to remember about MLG Dallas 2011! It's not the screw up.. It NaNiwa going through Open Bracket, and into the Grand Final without losing a match! If he wins (which he will) or lose it, that is the story! My God I hope blogs/threads/pics/vids/interviews with this guy gets spammed all over the place when MLG is done.

Just voted now (right before finals xD) and the story is definitely going to be Naniwa's being undefeated until (at least) the finals, for sure!

Yeah, how ironic that Naniwa's arrival was the lowest option in the poll but ended up being the most insane story of the tournament.

Man makes a valid point.

The fact SC2 is on the main stage should be given. It's about time players started getting branded as well.

Hayder and Chris made a good run. They played well along with Geoff.

Naniwa showed that he is still a force. As for Select and Kiwi. That was quite something else. They took it to a whole different level in some of those games.

Personally I thought FXOmOoNan(AllAboutYou) was more impressive given not many people think all that highly of the guy's play.

Starcraft 2 on the main stream was clearly the biggest thing to happen here!

A close second was the E in E-Sports now standing for Eagles!

Naniwa did go like 25-1 or something ridiculous. Don't see how that wouldn't be the highlight.

It was either 26-2 or 24-2, cant remember (he dropped 2 games vs kiwi in the finals, not 1). And the poll got most its votes long before the tournament, the fact that naama and naniwa was gonna contest was hardly a big deal back then.

There was no MLG story this year, not enough games where shown to create something like a story.

SC2 on the main stage for sure. In addition, HuK signing some girl's chest at the event. Non-Korean Starcraft players reaching rock star status? Not yet, but they're certainly getting there...

I feel like MLG waved it's magic wand and everyone forgot about the many electronic/connection problems.

This took over all the boards and was the talk of the weekend.
I have a dream, that some day I wouldn't see any imba comments in GSL threads.

The eagle stream was probably the most awesome storyline. Though I didn't really hear much of MLG this time around

idrA vs HuK or the technical problems. Can't believe at least one of these isn't on the poll and I think it shows in the "Others" category.
