You can now access Liquipedia here or by using the link on the navbar. But I would highly advise you to read some of the release notes below before venturing off into Liquipedia.
Your Liquipedia Account All Teamliquid accounts are tied to Liquipedia. That means your Liquipedia account is exactly the same as your Teamliquid one. To create a Liquipedia account you first need to have a Teamliquid account. You will need to log in on Liquipedia using your TL account to make edits without revealing your IP. If you do not want to make a Teamliquid account, then any edits you make will have your IP address associated with whatever edits you make.
This is a Wiki Please remember that this is a wiki and that the strength of a wiki comes from its user base. It is essential that people contribute in order for this to be successful. There is only so much the Staff can add, and the rest comes from the community. Whenever you see something that you can add - please do. It is these edits which make a wiki successful. Note that your edits may not show up immediately as they must be approved by a Staff member. This is just a security precaution to prevent vandalism of Liquipedia.

Style Guide The Style Guide is the single most important document to read if you want to start editing. It contains all style conventions used on Liquipedia such as capitalization and whatnot. So please, give this a read before you start editing.
Progaming Section At the moment there are only a very limited number of Progaming articles. This area will be the main area of work for the Staff to expand upon over the coming months. That does not mean you can't add stuff to this area too. If you love Bisu and know all of his history - then add it to his profile. If you can remember every details about Shinhan 3 OSL, then add that too. Eventually Liquipedia will span a countless number of topics, so every thing is appreciated.
Copyright Policy Please read the Liquipedia Copyright Policy before you add any images to Liquipedia. Note that any of NeverGG's photos are okay to use.
Liquipedia Feedback If you want to give us some feedback regarding Liquipedia, or want to apply to be a staff member at Liquipedia. Then the Liquipedia Feedback Thread is the place to go.
TeamLiquid Guide Contest If you choose to write about anything regarding Strategy for the Guide contest, you are more than welcome to include it also in Liquipedia. We have records of who post things in Liquipedia and who makes edits, so you can be sure no one will steal your work and claim it as there own. Hopefully Liquipedia will be an additional incentive for you to write some guides
Feel free to post any comments/questions about Liquipedia here as well.

we don't have a policy on it now, but if you start abusing either your user pages (profanity, bad hotlinked images) or the upload function (if you upload bad things), it's entirely possible that you may be banned without warning.
I'm really excited about this, hopefully I will have the time to be a solid contributor. Mostly I'm interested in making other peoples' content easy to read.

The style guide is editable without approval necessary - based on how the rest of the pages are working right now, I guess this is not intentional? If it is, awesome!

Please don't forget to login to liquipedia before making changes? It'll save your username, and we're hoping to add some features that count the number of edits and etc (given our history, not sure if that's ever going to happen, but it should provide incentive for you to login)
Yet another reason why TL is by far the most awesome site for Starcraft. The capabilities and the new features being added every month or two is just staggering.

Just wanted to say that you guys are about as fast as I expected but way more competent. I'm basically just rubber stamping most the edits you make, quality stuff guys. Keep it up.

Is semi-hidden until we feel like we have enough content there to make a section out of it. But if you simply search for things, like bisu for instance you'll find this: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Bisu
How do we want to handle variations of build orders? For example, I was just reading the Terran 1rax/FE page here and it differs a fair bit from the build Artosis posted a little while back. Is the one on Liquipedia superior? More accepted? What the pros use? etc.
One thing I don't see is a link to player biographies. I typed in Bisu and found his, but it would be nice to have a page dedicated to player/ team histories. Maybe there is one and I have not found it :O
Like I said above, at the moment I don't feel like we have enough to make a section out of it (i think it's only bisu's article =/) However if TL thinks otherwise we can easily add it.

the liquipedia dev team felt like we havne't really put enough time into it to make it easily accessible. Also, we feel like there's less of a chance of conflict if we do things inside of the game, get those good, and then move to things outside of the game.

Thats awesome, thanks for such a quick response, and you guys are doing a ridiculous job. Seriously the best competitive video game community of all time.
Will you add other languages sections allowing users to traduct the articles ?
If there is a demand for this, I dont see why not. Since English is the official language here we never really considered expansion into other languages.
Is there some way to write new articles? I would like to write skeletal articles for some progamers, nothing fancy, mostly stuff taken from the TLPD page, but more knowledgeable people could fill it in.

Search for the page, and if it doesn't exist it will say so and also give you the option to create the page. Use that.

You can search for the page ie. Flash and if it doesn't exist there will be a link to create it. You can also make a link or follow one on a pre-existing page ie. [[Flash]]. Another way is to just go directly to the page url http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Flash for example.
On June 08 2009 13:18 FragKrag wrote: Are you going to link to their regular name or their formal name? Like By.Flash vs Flash or By.Fantasy vs Fantasy.
whatever is in tlpd in the player list. If the name changes in tlpd, we'll move the article in liquipedia.
Sorry if your edits take a while to get reviewed, we're working as fast as we can but we're still doing a lot of the formatting work too. As with any project, the application creates unforseen issues so please just be patient because we're improving the end result.
This is going to be FREAKING awesome. Now I can spend hours going through all the old-school drama and matches (with linked VODs that are updated if they expired already in place).

I. am. loving. it.
old vod's for historical articles, vods w/in 1-2 years are requested for strategy
You know how awesome this is? I had to reset my password and trick my firewall at work so I could log on to my email account. I might get fired if they caught me. But I don't care, this needed to be said: You guys rock!
Excellent work guys! I've just spent the last 30 mins scanning though it and it is an amazing resource. Thank you all for your (continuing) hard work in this.
There, 5 contributions, and all before 2am. I'm gonna try to make 5-10 every day if I can, and I hope everyone else does too, until Liquipedia is perfect. Bed time, I don't know if I could hold out for that last hour and a half before MBC/WeMade kick off. Happy editing, guys!
Edit: I couldn't resist, I spent more time on it. I do have a concern though. Along with the picture of the unit, there's a build time, cost, defense, etc, all accompanied by little pictures. I don't see any units that have an attack listed other than the Infested and the tank, and that's only circumstantial due to the damage bonus while in Siege mode. Any plans to add unit damage for everything else?
Everyone, please sign talk pages so we don't have to look at the edit history to see who wrote what. The next to last item in the edit bar is the signature button which will add a time-stamped signature to your edit (or you can just type "--~~~~" which will do the same, minus the quotes of course).
Everyone who contributed even a little bit you rock really hard. Thanks for spamming the wiki team to death with your contributions! So many things are being submitted this is beyond what we could have hoped for.
Just added a page about the map Plasma. Reminded me of all the good games that were played on it despite it's overall questionable balance and short use.
this is amazing. I'm going to get lost in the liquipedia for the rest of the day everyone who worked on this: you are amazing and you haven't gotten nearly enough praise. cookies for everyone!
I've pretty much been writing most of the unit pages...their general usage sections are so empty!
So yeah, most of what you see under "vs. Terran" etc. in the unit pages are preliminary drafts that I wrote...for Protoss anyway. I'm also contributing to some of the other races units, but I probably don't have much time before I have to leave and do more lab work XD (yeah I'm editing Liquipedia instead of working. My supervisor's downstairs!)

don't worry about having essentially "preliminary pages" - the wiki will evolve.

Ehh...I think the paragraphs serve their purpose in giving general overviews of what each unit is used for in each match up. I basically just gave very surface level strategy (High Templar are used to cut through Zerg units, harass mineral lines, and defend expansions) since I figured deeper strategy is covered in the strategy guides.
Am I correct? Or should I be more thorough? (Go through my contributions)

yes (your edits look good). and yes. The unit pages are for a general overview of the unit, and the guides should (hypothetically, I dunno if they're at that stage yet) cover the unit composition and stuff.
If you could write up something appropriate and put this in the op plexa, that would be amazing. I'm already seeing things that are too much trouble to correct, so i'm not approving the changes
Just a detail, but it would be great if there were some reference of all abreviations in this post (or a link to a page where there are all the references). That way we can get things straight.
For example:
Common denominations for upgraded Units may be used, but sparingly: Speed upgraded Zealots --> Speedzeals, Speed upgraded Zerglings --> Speedlings, and so on. However only in contexts where that upgrade bears importance! (e.g. in the +1 Speedzeal article)
I don't think I've ever seen Speedzeals, but rather Speedlots (which is also in conformity with the Speedlings abreviations). And some other abreviations are less obvious, like cracklings etc... Just my two cents
I think this will honestly improve the lower level of play in the foreign community. I already am using it to find definite build orders of strats I used to not know how to do.

I'm actually not sure how we fix this, because we don't have a piece on any of the unit pages about "unit abbreviations". Have any suggestions?
first i was a little sceptic, cause do we need "yet another strategy guide"? But hey, the content already included seams to be as good as _good_ wikipedia articles, well done, keep up the good quality! if i can meet the standards, i'll need to put somethin in on my own : )

Well, I mean, this is so much easier to use than the strat forum and so many people use TL that this will make us that much closer on the lower levels to lower level koreans.

too much liquipedia +studying for finals messing with my head.
I usually avoid posting in the strategy forum because I'm not sure my advice will be good, so I will probably not make too many edits related to strategy/builds on Liquipedia either. From what I have browsed so far, it looks amazing though.
If I see typos or other writing errors that I think I can fix though, I will make those changes asap :D I love this already lol.

Haha man my head is also bloated from having been studying for 7 hours now. I reread your and DamageControls post like 3 times, trying to make sense out of it, just like 20 minutes ago I reread a paragraph about the biochemical aspects of myasthenia gravis like a gazillion times. Good to see that it wasn't me being too stupid to get it this time ^^
Ok TL break is over, gotta go back to studying now ^^

Yes, you create a new article, and then you need to add it to catagory: maps. Copy the format from an existing map article. You then take the images from tlpd, and reupload them to mediawiki

Awesome, I use Wikipedia a lot already, I use TL a lot. This is a match made in heaven, was tempted to edit, but then thought best to leave it to all the other devoted fans
Not sure if someone's mentioned this, but a good idea would be to somehow update users with the latest/popular/best articles especially in relations to strategy. Maybe they could be linked on Recommended Threads, just some method for people to see the most important articles, of course it could always just go on the main homepage
very very good!! congratulations! i think it would be nice if someone could write about keyboard techniques... like that stuff tasteless wrote on his blog once ago, for example correct hand position, how what finger to use in each time... i found that very nice!

The info box template automatically adds it to the necessary categories.

there's no real consensus on this, and not all keyboards are the same. If people know progamer hotkeys, it might make sense to include it in the progamer page, but I don't think it makes sense to write a strategy article on it.

I checked some of the damage types as I edit the units, and they seem right for now - will check the rest as I go trough all units. (as that's my area of focus at the moment)
Thanks for adding them, you saved me a lot of work, as I was going to add that later.
And thanks to all Liquipedia admins for creating this gem, and especially thanks to the people that helped me when I was starting to edit articles with 0 knowledge. (Riptide, GHOSTCLAW, Abydos1 and Carnac; might have forgotten someone, my memory is bad, sorry :D)

Random comment Y are all the stratgies listed in the strategies section not listed in the Strategy overview? Its kind of hard to get to things like the 10/15 gate ect
On June 11 2009 13:01 gk_ender wrote: Random comment Y are all the stratgies listed in the strategies section not listed in the Strategy overview? Its kind of hard to get to things like the 10/15 gate ect
The strategy overview is really meant to be an "overview" in the sense that it's really general, and not very specific at all. The specific guides in each section are where you can find all the builds and all the gameflows. For example, 10/15 gate would be in the PvT guide, as well as possibly in the PvT adaptations.
I'm trying to fix up a lot of minor things (capitalization, punctuation) to make things overall more consistent. I also may make a comprehensive list of abbreviations/short forms, if it doesn't already exist. (I don't see one.)
Hey quick question on contributions...on my contributions page, some contributions have a lighter background than others. What does this mean? I have a feeling it has to do with which contributions were selected for inclusion in Liquipedia, but I'm not sure.

yea it means that we haven't gotten around to reviewing the article. I'm not sure about how we would keep the changes "unreviewed" such that they would never change color if there was a bad edit (that would actually be useful, so people might be able to ask questions about rejected edits).
So yes, you are correct in that it means that we haven't gotten around to reviewing it if it's a different color. Just means that the mods of liquipedia are kind of lazy -_-;
