[GOM] Last Zerg Standing
December 14th, 2008 04:53 GMT
We're moving into the second week of the GOM Ro16, and so far the 'Taek-Bang Era' continues. This week we're given the opportunity to watch games starring arguably the best Protoss and the best Terran in S.Korea. Fans also get to see whether any Zerg make it into the quarterfinals. Remember, the GOMtv Classic is the 'Tournament of Upsets,' so anything could happen. Should be a fun set of games.
Flash vs Rock should be a good test of the Classic's alleged map-imbalance. Considering Flash's past immunity to map-imbalance (Katrina, anyone?) he should perform well tonight. Without a doubt, Flash is the heavy favorite in this series. Rock will need a ton of factors to swing his way if he expects to get past Flash and into the Ro8.
HoeJJa vs Bisu... HoeJJa, the last Zerg standing and relative unknown vs Fakesteve's #1 PowerRanker and PvZ gawd, Bisu. Like the Flash vs Rock series, this one has a clear favorite: Bisu. HoeJJa did show some fantastic play vs Much two weeks ago, so I'm not ready to completely write him off, but Destination is no longer in the mappool and he'll need to show off that same level of micro in the face of Bisu's awesome multitask to pull off an upset.
Here's some irrational hope that there'll be a Zerg in the Ro8 after tonight's games complete!
lilsusie interviewed BeSt[HyO] and sKyHigh last week. If you'd like to watch these or any of GOM Classic's past interviews, please visit lilsusie's thread.
Also, GOMtv has begun requesting that viewers ask questions of any potential winner. This week, that means you can ask questions of Bisu, Flash, Rock and HoeJJa. Hurry and get your questions in before the games start!

Awesome. I'm a hardcore Bisu fan, but I'd also like to see a zerg in the ro8. Tough choice, though i suspect Bisu will win regardless.
|
I'm a hardcore Bisu fan
That's obviously untrue . We hardcore Bisu fans would gladly sacrifice the entire Zerg race to appease his appetite.
|
Hoejja needs to win the whole tournament.
Zerg needs some new blood in these stagnant times.
|
skyhigh.. watch out for him
|
hopefully hoejja will play greatly he beat fbh, which i did not expect
|
well so much for any zergs being left
|
As much as I appreciate Zerg as a Race, I appreciate Best/Bisu more. Eliminate that Zerg scum.

I want HoeJJa to win so Bisu can concentrate on the important thing, which is adding points to my fantasy PL roster. I don't want him taking weeks off for unimportant things like the starleagues.
|
HoeJJa needs some power overwhelming to pull this off.
|
Hoejja could be a champion one day. He's the real deal but I doubt he'll get past bisu today. RIP zerg in gom. gzergom
|
Well I didn't see the game against FBH, but against Much in the last round of gom he was awesome, and I think he's got it in him again to pull out a win. little less then an hour to go. yaay

GOM, TOURNAMENT OF UPSETS??? BE PREPARED.
|
my percentage prediction, Rock 30% Flash 70%, Bisu 80%, Hoejja 20%.
|
Being the last Zerg in a tournament instantly gets you 1000s of fans, even when you've only ever played 2 televised games. + Show Spoiler + I'm included in those 1000s. KICK SOME ASS HOEJJA!
|
Rock's sloppy play that he showed won't get him past flash ^^. I feel bad for Hoejja, however...He's going to need some good luck :X.
|
only for me, or did the stream just die?
edit: works for me again
|
Yea, same for me. The stream died at "Rock is at ....

Since Bisu is finally out of his slump, he should take this one easily. Flash still seems pretty inconsistent do I dunno.

Zerg is such an unforgiving race, all it takes is just one small mistake and it's gg for the hive - which is why I always admire winning Zerg progamers over any other race. gl HoeJJa, he is going to need it ~

+ Show Spoiler +Because he's still in the tournament. Every week since Jaedong was eliminated, I've changed the player in the banner.

why would u ever think rock has 30% to Flash.... cmon.... try more like 10 to 90 if that.... Flash is too consistantly good

Poor Effort bit the dust. I hope to see more of him in the future...I usually see good games from him in the ProLeague.
If Flash loses to Rock, I will eat my hard drive.
