[GOM] Survival of the Fittest
November 12th, 2008 18:25 GMT
With one week missed due to exam pressures, we are now back on track and ready to enjoy the GomTV Classic Season 2 as usual. This week we'll look at the results of the first Ro32, look at what's coming up in the future, and goggle at some progamer photos!
With the round of 32 under way, the maps have changed so that they now are: Chupung-Ryeong, Destination, and Neo Requiem. And with the exciting new maps, we get some of our most exciting games to date.
For the first match we have one of the best Protoss players around playing against young by.hero. by.hero has shown that he can beat Protoss, by taking down Nbs in his previous Gom match, but his record against top-tier protoss players are not as impressive. It will be difficult for by.hero to take a win, but many unknown players have pulled off miraculous victories in both this and the previous season of the Gom classic, so it will be interesting to see what he tries.
For our second match-up, we have a slumping fOrGG taking on SoO. If SoO ever had a chance of beating fOrGG, now is it. However, looking at fOrGG's results, this doesn't seem likely yet. SoO will have to play the games of his life to take out a top player like fOrGG. However, he does have the experience, and some high class wins under his belt, perhaps he can make it count!
The third match is where it really starts heating up, with two strong CJ zergs facing off. Kwanro made a name for himself a few seasons back by being one of the best users of zerglings in the game, a skill from which he will definitely benefit in ZvZ. EffOrt, on the other hand, has had some impressive wins recently, including wins over Hwasin and fantasy. Both these players are in with a real shot to make it further, and I'm sure we'll see some amazing games.
The final match, and the match of the evening without a doubt, is the Destroyer taking on the man with too many archons. sAviOr has shown impressive results since his fantastic win at Blizzcon, but he is yet to be truly challenged. This might be one of the biggest hurdles he'll face all tournament, going up against the PvZ specialist Pretty. Pretty recently dominated Jaedong 2-1 in the MSL, and while Jaedong's ZvP has not looked unbeatable as of late, it's still nothing to scoff at. If the Destroyer wins this match, I think it would be fair to say that he is back.
This week, I'll leave you with a photo and an interview from the arch-rivals. We'll be seeing much more from them in the future.
There's some pretty epic matches coming up this week, and it's only going to get better. I apologize for missing last week's write-up as some of the biggest games happened last week. If you missed anything you can always catch-up on GomTV's homepage.
Until next week!

savior vs pretty will prove if bonjowa is back or not..
i undrestand pretty = free?

I wonder when they are going to livebroad cast Frozean She is cute

Best is not facing the Protoss Hero from Fox, he was eliminated by Jaedong last round. His opponent is the Zerg by.hero from Soul. This information is incorrect in the Calendar and Liquibet as well...
|
i completely forgot that this tourney was still going on

I checked Hero's TLPD, and I saw that it said he had lost against Jaedong (the week I missed ), but then I checked the calender as well. Thanks, I'll have to change my predictions in that case.

Go, sAviOr, go! And same goes for EffOrt
|
ohgod I can't wait for the round of 16. The round of 32 games are just too damn predictable. (For the most part, anyway)

Why doesn't TLPD have "The Destroyer" up for Savior's nicknames yet?

That is a sexy sexy bracket.

Go Destroyer Go.... and Imagine if the Destroyer does win!
Destroyer vs Legend Killer in the Ultimate ZvZ game of all time! I would have no idea who to root for that match...
So make it happen MJY!

That tempest-jaedong-free-savior eighth of the bracket is so loaded.
I'm glad that one side of the bracket isn't more loaded than the others, though.
|
Flash-Jaedong finals. Count on it.

Well... we can dream... But that's SO HIGHLY UNLIKELY!!! hehehe

Oh man, Savior is screwed. Even if he wins against Free, he's gonna get owned by Jaedong.

I just want to see savior wining -.-
|
In WCG, it was free vs savior and the winner vs jaedong. Msl Free vs jaedong, savior and free in same ro32 bracket. Now in GOM, Savior vs free, winner could vs jaedong.
I just saw it as weird lol.
|
where does one get off calling forgg slumping that makes no sense hes 6-2 in his last 8 games hes still kicking ass i have no idea where one could draw the conclusion he is in a slump
|
mm
loved the jaedong interview ^^

Anyone else want a bisu vs. Savior final rematch?
|

Do Koreans think Free's cute or something? He looks quite average to me, so this new nick doesn't seem to make sense.
Anyway, it's not 2009 yet, so Pretty > Savior easily 2-0. Although I will probably watch this match(not going to bother with the other ones) just because this is the first time Destroyer-Savior is playing a top player in league games.

savior's bracket is so hard, poor guy.
|
flash vs by.fantasy will be so good games ! cant wait to see them! if they comes out!

Well, you don't have to wait.

Good thing that sAviOr will destroy anyone anyway.
If he would not have said that, I would feel bad about his chances.
|
I wouldnt say forgg is slumping yet. I think hes going to do pretty well this tournament.

Okay, if Savior beats Free, and THEN beats Jaedong... he's well on his way to the finals.

Yeah, it's a tough road for Best. But I'm a Best fan so I think he can do it in a messy, ugly way.
