After 6 groups, 5/6 of the advancing players dropped down from the previous OSL, only one person coming from prelims has made it out of groups. Sounds so new and exciting!

Am I the only one thinking this new groups system is pretty lame? Round robin instead of this system would be a big improvement imo. Right now we are looking at the upcoming OSL having no big differences besides the maps. Way to shit on people coming out of prelims OGN.

Awesome read. My question is that does OGN prefer to have the same players in the tourney again? I like the MSL where no one gets a major head start, but this makes it less confusing, and more gratifying because beating a former OSL competitor shows u belong. Im mixed.

I dont know.. of course the OSL originally invented and used the ODT format (now used exclusively by MSL ironically) and i guess there are benefits to have a relatively secure OSL group ie adding stability to an already volatile scene (something which has been lacking for awhile). On the whole, however, i believe it is detrimental to the overall scene as only players who suck really bad will drop out (ie slumpers) and lock out some of the other fan favs like boxer and savior. Once you know the ODT format its pretty simple

and with the FAQs lying about on TL understanding the format is even easier. I dont think ease of understand warrants such a dramatic change

TheZerg! Still can't believe Hwasin lost, although Plasma probably forced him to opt for a different build dynamic other than the TvZ that he's famed for. Still, those were some amazing matches.

Plasma is shaping up to be quite an interesting map...

Well, looking at whats left of the groups, it looks like it will be very similar to the last OSL. I like this format because it gives some nice games pre-Starleague, but I really hope this doesn't become a "couple of new faces per OSL", cause then it is going to suck. OSC+ODT wasn't as spectacular but I think it was more balanced since it put everyone at a more fair starting point.
