i hate to be a detractor after such a high profile match, but i wasn't impressed by draco's play. both games one and two should have gone the other way. it was only two incredible strokes of luck that kept draco in the game past the ten minute mark.

in game one, the shuttle dying with both reavers inside was an enormous fluke, and it was virtually impossible for nony to recover afterward.

in game two, as has been stated, the game was over in all but the 'gg' after nony's dragoons and reavers destroyed draco's army.

it's hard to understand how anyone can be taken by draco's performance when he was rescued in games one and two by hugely improbable strokes of good fortune.

in about 75% of army encounters nony outhandled draco, and nony was also better prepared with build orders and timings for each map. after watching the tightness of nony's mechanics and strategies, and the relatively loose, generic protoss macro play by draco, i don't think the better player won this series.

i would be very surprised to see draco take even a game away from brat if the finals comes to that.

In all three games it seemed to me as if nony cut probe production kinda early in order to have an army advantage at the 8-10 minute mark, while draco essentially built none-stop probes. My question then to people who actually understand pvp; Was this on purpose or did nony simply get nervous and forgot his multitasking?

Agree. Draco would have been raped by a pro-gamer at this point, but Nony made there two huge mistakes.

I was thinking during this game that the real difference between theses two players is that Draco doesn't loose dropship. So well, yes, none of them is Nal_ra, but it still remains amazing starcraft.

it was clearly intentional as he timed his attacks at exactly the point where the probe cuts gave him an advantage. at least that was the case in games one and two, but by the middle of game 2 nony was tilted hard due to dropping the two reaver shuttle in the first game and, in the second game, by failing to make the game-ending nexus kill at draco's expansion. knowing that he should have won both games was probably horribly frustrating.

an important point about game one that seems to have gone completely unnoticed is the fact that nony had an expansion at that point was almost a disadvantage because he had cut so many probes that its extra income was marginal, and by losing the two reavers, he instantly lost control of the game. so, couple the expansion with a low probe count, and nony had to doubly fear reavers from draco because he had more area to defend, with less army to defend it, and each probe kill was heavily felt because his mining numbers were already low. thus nony had to play overly defensively, forgoing expansions while draco was free to either make a committing attack or expand at will. if you'd really like an understanding of game one, think of it as ending when the reavers died rather than ending draco's macro eventually overpowered nony

the second game was more interesting, but i think what appeared to be a huge disadvantage for draco was misinterpretted as such by the audience and nony. nony's initial attack involved cutting so many probes that after surviving it, draco's meager probe losses only evened the playing field while nony played as though he had a large advantage. game two was fairly well-played by both players, but i think nony lost more by false intelligence of his own designs than draco doing anything notable.

really draco did very little in the way of strategy, storm drops or anything else.

even in game 3, when it was clear nony was tilting, nony still outplayed draco up to the point that nony failed to notice draco's army walk around to destroy the top left expansion. i stand by my assessment that draco will be wiped out by brat, if brat is his opponent.

Maybe the first shuttle dying was a bit of luck on Draco's part, but the second one where he was very slow in reacting and still killed it? And the third? How many shuttles did Draco kill that weren't forced by him throughout the series? Answer: a lot. If you're going to be that aggressive with shuttle play decently late into the game, at least get shuttle speed.

And the expansion in the second game? Why didn't Nony take his mineral only first? If you're going to expand to a gas expo that is difficult to defend, at least have your army in the vicinity of it so you don't throw it away completely.

Overall Nony's decision making was terrible, and he wasn't even close to being the better player as a result.

Nony was outplayed pretty badly, mainly from Draco making excellent decisions.

Some shuttles were luck yes, but the the shuttle lost to storm in game2 should've been just a shuttle, picking up the reavers in a spot where u really should be able to tell that the shuttle wasnt even close to surviving, while the reavers probably would have as they dodged most of the first storm?
