'next TSL' the best two words I have heard in a long time.

|
TSLD the names please

I am more excited by TSL than by OSL and MSL. Combined. The games so far were just awesome and the commentators do an incredible job. Plus, the intro is the best of all leagues. Congrats to you all TSL staff, players, and thanks to Razer.
PS : my bet is Draco>Nony, JF>Brat_OK. Then, JF>Draco and Brat>Nony

|
is it just me or is draco a huge huge asshole?
he makes his id retired_, he talks about how he never practices and he claims to have never seen nony play? I think its pretty fucking ridiculous how he just nonchalantly carries himself around disrespecting the entire TSL and basically all the other participants.
dont know if its just me but its been bothering me the entire tsl and i really really really hope he loses. GO NONY
|
I am so excited.. >:D
Go Nony! Go BratOk! Go JF! :D
Nony, when you win make sure you say in post game interview that Draco was pretty talented but he should practice if he wants to win :D
|
As far as matchups I'd like to see NonY vs JF in a battle of two PvP masters and excellent reaver play, and Draco vs BRAT for great PvT vs great TvP. Hoping the North American players make it to the finals

Great job Teamliquid staff, and thank you again to the TSL's generous sponsor Razer! I hope TL's enthusiasm towards your company has been a worthwhile return on your investment in this great project for the non-Korean Starcraft world.
TSL 2 gogogogo

Go Draco! He's too pimp he HAS to sweep the cash. He knew he was going to take 1st place. However, if any other player wins, 100% respect to Nony, JF and Brat. Red and White flags hwaiting!

next TSL, sound's nice

rootin' for a nony vs brat final

I'm hoping for that it goes to 5 games for both sides.
For my picks... Draco and Brat. Gogo!
|
Draco vs Brat in the finals.
Both semi finals will end 3-2.
|
RoX.BRAT_OK vs. Excello.IefNaij its gonna be spectacular!!!!
Brat made a good terran enginering tactics.. and Naij played top level with Psi Storms!! ..
|
I feel like noony is a good pracc-player but far from the talent that draco is. The dude never praccs and still beats players who are awesome. No but all kidding aside. I feel like draco either is lying about not praccing and still owning everyone or he should go back to korea and own like he never has.
What i am trying to say is. Either draco is lying about his not praccing or his stay in korea was a big epic unlucky failure. I like draco, i love dreiven and i feel that if anyone should win this, it should be someone who loves the game as much as all of us and someone who isnt as nochalant as draco is. I think that that person is Noony. And Noony - KIM TAEK YONG, RED AND WHITE-ING! If you dont do it for yourself, do it for the allmighty!
|
brat vs draco final gogogog!
|
I'm betting Nony will squash that pompous bastard. Nony > Draco 3:1 BRAT > IefNaij 3:2
|
Go BRAT_OK! The terran hero.
|
I believe Draco when he says he hasn't been practicing. His play is far from perfect and no where near to what it was even before he left for Korea (at least from what I could see on the stream).
I'm hoping Nony - Iefnaij in the finals. I want Iefnaij to win for that mousepad, but with that aside, I'll probably be cheering for Nony.
|
|
nony vs brat finals =) gg
|
Iefnaij is fucking awesome... gogogogoogogogo
I want Nony vs IefNaij in finals.. and hopefully iefnaij to take it :D
|

It'll be good to see a regular member of TL.net representing us (and all of the US) in TSL. GL Nony!
|
Go lefNaij! Its gonna be an awesome series against Brat.

Ugh, he didn't say Nony was bad so your analogy is pretty stupid. He said he'd never seen him play. In your example it would be your friend asking you if you think X is attractive you replying you never really noticed her.

you guys are arguing one minor point of the post.
in either case, draco tries to act like he can waltz his way through this competiton without putting any effort in and its sickening to see him disrespect everyone like that. not just the other players, but the entire organization, razer, and everyone who had a part in it. it really really pisses nazgul off but he feels bad posting anything because the TSL is run by his site so i decided to speak up cause its been bugging me too.
im not positive on this, but it doesnt seem like the money is the biggest factor here. neither are sc sponsorships. lets be realistic, starcraft is going to be succeeded by sc2 within the next 15 months. and the money is really nice (which lets not forget would have been funded by TL.net if razer didnt come along so generously) but its not a life changing sum. winning the TSL is so much more than those things, its like a culmination of the last 10 years of a lot of these guys lives and it vindicates all the hard work and practice they put in to try to become the best they could at this game which rarely gives a chance to show accomplishments.
and now in the biggest foreign tourney of all time with tons of people watching extremely high quality live streams with great work from a lot of people and razer, this little punk who thinks hes hot shit cause he lived in korea and only cares about the money carries around this tone of arrogance and demeans all his opponents and the hard work/dedication of tons of people putting effort into this league. i dont know if im in the minority here but it makes me fucking sick.
gl to jf, nony and brat. draco i hope your attitude improves and you learn to show some respect to everyone who is jealous of where you are now. not just the people who played and werent good enough to get this far. but the people who played years ago that have moved on to other things but still watch in excitement at this.

If I didn't know Draco I'd hate this retardedly-cocky I don't give a shit attitude but since I do I find it hilarious because he's basically exactly the same irl. This is a guy who justifies himself with "...because I am Draco". Obviously he's got some maturing and growing up to do but I will enjoy his unique personality and the drama it brings until then.
I'll take Draco 1:1 for up to 2k vs Nony. big balls call?!

smuft is the sickest negotiator ever. ill talk to naz about getting some bets in here, but we def gonna need better than 1:1 vs the favorite
im leaving for vegas tomorrow ill prob be back online tomorrow night so ill hit you or rek on msn or just reply back here cause id like to get some action on the games :D

OMFG GO BRAT
The TSL turned out to be such a huge damn success! <3 you guys :D

Guys, lets be realistic, for christ sake ! I am talking about Nony. He is a great guy,a great player, but his level is FAR AWAY BELOW Draco's level and this is the whole truth. Now,dont get the wrong idea. I hate Draco. He is acting like a total jerk and Nony rox and i want him to win,but this is just impossible. In my opinion,Nony got LUCKY to rech the semi-finals. GOsia was a very weak oponent and thats all. If Nony played vs Dinot,White_Ra or Dreiven,he would loose for sure. You dont like it - but its called truth guys and its called reality.
Im following this even since the begining and i was really laughing when so many people were cheering for Idra. Okay,he is American, most of you guys are from USA but he is much weaker than the other players, how could u say he will win this tournament in Korea in which he participated ? Really funny ! I wasnt surprised at all, when he lost,i was just wondering when and HOW will he loose. He still has ALOT of stuff to learn, but problem is that he is ALREADY acting shitty like Draco. He said that he will win this tournament, that some people are weak (people who are obviously stronger than him) and in the end - he lost and was pwned...
But lets get back to Nony, you guys say that he has VERY STRONG PvP. Who told you that ? And who told you Jf also has very strong PvP ? And how the hell did u decided Draco's PvP is weaker than their PvP ???? CUZ ITS N O T TRUE ! I would really like Nony wins this match vs Draco, not cuz he is better player, but because he is better PERSON than the polish guy,but this is NOT going to happen. Maybe in the land of dreams, yes. Bt in here - in real life,on planet Earth this is impossible.
The guy who was supposed to take Draco out and who i still think is STRONGER than Draco was White_Ra and i really hate to see he lost, but shit happens. However Brat and JF have some chances (while Nony doesnt have even a small chance in my opinion) Also if you take a look at Retired_Draco's account in iccup you will see that he lost several games to Mondragon. Mongi lost to Dreiven, and Dreiven lost to Brat. So i really think Brat has a chance to take Draco out,but i wonder if he will manage to go through JF,cuz the Canadian is VERY tricky and unexpected player (which u may NOT noticed so far) and his drops are incredibly strong, while i havent seen so far,Brat being pushed with reaver-drops so its unpredictable at all which one of them will win. But i can tell u one thing - If JF goes to final with Draco, you can count Draco as a winner of TSL in advance.
GO BRAT GO NONY (im still cheering for you Miracles can happen, but please dont ever start acting like Idra)

What the fuck you talking about? lol
NonY has been ripping up the scene for more than a few months! His PvP is top notch and many would say it is his best matchup even though zvz and pvp are the most random I would take him anyday over Draco in his current state.
I'll gladly put $250 on NonY! :D
You reeeally need to be paying more attention to the scene more man in terms of showmatches, clan leagues. I'm sorry but if Draco doesn't take NonY seriously he's going to get seriously raped hard and then I'll be up 250 bucks.

I'm fairly sure it will be a Draco vs Brat final, and the final score will be 3-2. it's going to come down to some truly epic games

Is it really that hard to undurstand that someone may have more important things in his life than StarCraft and he simply doesn't find time to practise? Can you imagine that? Shall I lie in the interviews to become in your eyes more mature and manner? Or maybe I shouldn't participate in this tournament at all if I knew from the beginning that I may hardly find time for practice? C'mon, let's add another rule "You can't join TSL unless you won't practise for it 10 games a week." What the hell?
I'm sorry to hear that guys who organize this tournament are pissed off about my interviews but I simply tell the truth. It has nothing to do with my attitude against other players and I never meant to show any disrespect to any of my opponents.
So get off my back and before you make your psychotic rants analyze more carefully my point of view.
|
Umm NonY recently spanked White-rA, and Aleks went 2-3 with Draco in some pretty entertaining games.
I'm pretty sure NonY vs Draco will be the most entertaining games so far this season, but if anything I think the underdog is definitely Draco.
|
@Draco I think no one wants a other one to lie. One thing you could do is to point out your situation with a few more sentences right from the beginning. For example what takes your time at the moment. Then there would be less controversies about your point of view too.
The thing is that you are shortspoken in your interviews and like "I dont care what people think anyway". But if then controversies appear from that point you begin to care and start writing much. So if I would be in your situation and wouldnt care about what people think I would either do this till the end or make it easier to understand my situation right from the beginning. But thats just my thoughts and no accusations. Cuz you are confronted with this discussions and not me.
|
Nony might have a good chance in pvp, but Draco is probably the better pvt player, that´s why I want to see a Draco vs Brat final.
|
@ -FS-DangerouS: Nah, I think you underestimate Nony. He has improved a lot recently and is easily top5 protoss non-kor, if not better. Almost every game I've seen from him lately, either TSL or MYM KOTH or something other, was dominated by him. And PvP is Draco's weakest MU, and probably (don't know for sure though) Nony's best. So I think Nony will win 3-2, but it will be close.
|
I'd love to see Brat vs Draco in the finals but everyone deserves to be in the finals at that point. So GL to all four players.
|
lol at Draco haters
if someone had his peak of interest in sc:bw, spent endless time on practice, gone to Korea to fullfil his dreams and now just taking care of his life like anyone else on this planet. But he still know how to play starcraft and wants to capitalize it.
Dracos interviews are not funny nor bm, theyre just true. Its just feels unpleasent to read beacause of this contrast. Everybody is pissing his pants in excitment about TSL (dont get me wrong its GREAT) and Draco is just cool and dettached from this.
...and about bm: Idras "eurotrash" was bm

Heh, what is everyone's problem with Draco? He does not cheat, he does not suddenly drop out of the tournament, he produces nice games and results, isn't that what he is expected to do? He is somewhat bitter in his interviews for whatever reason, but that's it. I fail to see any disrespect from his side.
If anyone showed any arrogance and disrespect in this torunament, it was Idra.
|
Well Draco, no one demands to know whether you practiced or not but you mention it, without fail, in every single interview.
On another note, looking so much forward to next cast, go Brat_ok! ^^
|
There's nothing BM about saying he didn't practice (unless it is not true, that would be pretty dumb,) but if he really hasn't been practicing at all like he said, he's not going to win this tourney. I think it's pretty sweet that he can just pick up and go back at it with the best players in the world. But he's not so good that he can win this tourney without practicing.

i'm so offended draco is honest. he should lie to spare my feelings. or wait, who cares?
it's hilarious how people are upset at draco. everyone loves money and draco is doing the bare minimum to get it. if he can get away with it, more power to him. you should be more upset at the state of starcraft outside of korea that a guy who doesn't care at all can make it to the semis of the biggest tournament.

Can we please stop saying "he doesn't care at all." Because he clearly does, he's making posts and playing the games to the best of his ability. He cares how he is perceived and of course, how much money he makes. I don't blame him, it's natural.
And all the people who are so impressed because "Draco never practices, he's so good even though he doesn't practice, etc" forget that of all the final 4, Draco has, on the whole, practiced the absolute most and of the absolute highest quality because he's spent several months in Korea. You don't simply forget those skills because the practice over there is so intense, technical, and ingrained in you. Just because he says he hasn't practiced much recently doesn't mean he magically forgets what he learned in a proteam.
In fact, I'm more impressed by White-Ra for leading that series against Draco without ever having the opportunity to undergo Pro-Korean practice for 10 hours a day for several months. The same goes for Nony if he beats Draco.
Given his history in a Korean pro-team Draco should win this tournament hands down. It shouldn't even be close. But amateur players who never got that opportunity at Pro-Korean practice are making it close. So let's enjoy it instead of focusing on however much Draco practices recently, because there's no reason to be impressed by him winning "without practice" when clearly it doesn't mean jack since he actually has had the best and most practice out of all the contestants by far. It's not even comparable.
|
I don't care if Draco practices or not, that's my whole point. If he can win 5k by NOT practicing, that's awesome and I'm happy for him. People are upset he's not practicing though. It offends them and they're acting like Draco spat on them when it's no big deal. I agree with you.
Practice or not Draco is still putting out awesome games and that's all that should matter, but Bigballs and others want Draco to sweat for his money. And you're right, it's not like Draco magically gained his StarCraft skills. He got it through previous hardwork, probably more hardwork than any foreigner who hasn't been to Korea, so the fact that he's banking on those skills now to make him some money shouldn't be such a sin.
|
the only thing that bothers me of the Retired_Draco thing is that you look like underachieving your opponent if you loose and overachieving your triumph if you win. Im sure a lot of the top players , didn't practice at all like draco but the difference is they don't use it as an escape boat.
|
Oh and I wanted to address something else. I feels like you're not giving Draco enough credit. By just pigeoning him into "oh, well he's been to Korea he should wipe the floor with these guys!! THEY'RE the ones good for even competing with him" you're conveniently ignoring everyone else who's been to Korea with a pro-team, was in the TSL ladder / group stages and failed to make it this far.
If we're just going on history in Korea alone as to who the favorite is, then why wasn't Legionaire a favorite? Why wasn't Nazgul a favorite? Suncow? Leg was in Korea practicing with a pro-team much longer than Draco and Naz accomplished more. Draco is naturally talented and is a monster if he really didn't practice and made it this far, because those other guys (Leg and Naz for sure) also didn't practice and didn't make it very far.

Draco is naturally talented and is a monster if he really didn't practice and made it this far, because those other guys (Leg and Naz for sure) also didn't practice and didn't make it very far. First, comparing Draco and Naz is laughable, one played like 5 years ago and one practiced in a modern pro-team. I don't know when Legionnaire quit so I can't really say about that. But Draco seems to be the only one who has gotten relatively recent Korean pro-team practice (Idra not included, only a week or so).
Also your post completely ignores my point, which was that Draco actually had the most and best practice out of everyone. You are making it seem like he's some sort of prodigy for winning while not practicing when its completely expected that he wins because he's practiced the most and had the highest quality practice overall. So what if he doesn't practice that much now? He doesn't forget the things he learned in Korea.
Nobody is saying Draco isn't good, he clearly is very good. But this "no practice" thing really is made to be too much of a big deal, it doesn't mean anything because again, Draco has had much more practice than Nony, White-Ra, etc. Your two examples (only really one--Legionnaire) doesn't change anything I've said.
Everyone stop making a big deal out of this "no practice" by Draco, it's really not "no practice." It's just less practice now after much more and better practice earlier. Adding it all up Draco practiced much more and of a higher quality than all the other contestants and he should be the favorite. I'd like to reiterate that I'm more impressed with White-Ra and whoever beats Draco (if he should lose) than Draco not practicing much recently. It's not hard to regain that form when you've practiced so much and so hard with a pro-team.
So please, no more "omfg he's winning without practicing!!" because that's silly. It's like cheering a former NBA practice partner who hasn't played that much recently for beating college kids. It's not like he simply walks up after not touching the game for 6 months and wins. Draco played plenty during the ladder and the Ro32, 16, 8 to regain enough of his former pro-team heavily-practiced form. It's to be expected.

Nobody cares about what Draco said - its HOW he said it.
Theres a huge difference between -
I didn't practice at all LOL but i still won AND I didn't have time to practice. I'm glad I was able to win.

You could easily argue playing in the TSL ladder itself is practice for someone as good as Draco. But its absolutely fine someone chooses not to practice and I doubt anyone really has a problem with that. Carrying it out in your nickname as "Retired" to make absolutely sure everyone sees it, that's unnecessary, unprofessional, and offensive to your opponents. Draco cares enough about his reputation to reply here with posting, let him care enough about other peoples' rep and not ridicule them. They deserve better than that.
I'd prefer a good bunch of trashtalk to hype the matches instead. Just tell them straight out they suck and start a good rant before the finals that will get people pumped.

If JF vs Nony in finals, JF will definitly win....

i find the word "retired" in a starcraft username ironic

I find it funny Naz is the only person who noted Draco's use of 'Retired' before his name. lol
I mean seriously lol
Any more people want to place bets on the match?

Any more people want to place bets on the match? Plenty of others noted it when we first put out the groups and everything. Naz was definitely not the only person.
