With the ladder stage complete, both the players and TL.net staff are gearing up for the greatest tournament in years. On the staff side of things, we are working hard at making our production as quality as possible, mindful of the challenges of us living in all corners of the globe.
One of our side projects for the TSL is to profile the people working behind the scenes so that the viewers can get to know them better. These are the people that are helping to make the TSL a success.
The first person interviewed for TSL profiles is someone you don't know now, but someone you will know in the future. His name is Yannis Ziakas, from Greece, and he is helping the TSL staff with numerous issues such as broadcasting and video editing. The video you saw in the ambition revealed thread was his work.
The format of TSL Profiles is simple. My guest and I record an audio interview with a short introduction. Then we continue talking while watching a couple replays. The hope is that you will listen and watch the replays along with us. There are cues in the replay as to when to start the game.
The audio has been divided into three parts, click to download each one: Part 1: Introduction Part 2: First replay audio Part 3: Second game audio
In addition, here are the replay files. Simply start the replay when cued in the audio, and follow along.
Game 1: Jumperer vs Sea.X Game 2: Artosis vs PalMall
I hope you enjoy the interview, and welcome Yannis to TL.net.
Cheers, Mani

Just a quick heads up. In the audio I said we would watch three replays and nominate the best one, but unfortunately I had to go (which I think is obvious in the second commentary) so we didn't get to #3. My apologies for that, totally my wifes fault.

Looking again, why is the picture in reverse?!? =P
|
Ok so i'm assuming this is going to be the commentators for the Final matches? :E
If not, i can only hope this is some sort of decoy for the real surprise :o
Edit: And the links with the descriptions dont match, Game 1 link leads to game 2 and vice versa.

the picture is strange, it's reversed and the guy in it is punching himself in the face!

This is the first time TL has done a "straight into staff" kind of move, so its been an interesting adjustment. Yannis is a great guy though and brings alot to the table with TSL and furthering the site. Welcome aboard!
|
Ti Kanis Yannis! hehe
Most probably spelled that wrong, but it means how are you or even hi , how are you in Greek (when you sound it out) only know a little bit from my Greek friends
|
Oh man, so you really got him. I remember reading his creds on his website :O Is that actually him on IRC too?

He sounds like a true player..
Welcome aboard TL, we have your soul now

What's that picture about? I can't lose a feeling it's rendered or really tampered. Looks like a cartoon character from modern animated tales. Really weird...
|
Ti xamparia Yanni?
|
Yanni is one of my most favorite artist
|
This will be even better when we have RWA again
|
Hello, Zombie Entertainment!
|
mannifesto doesn't only read books backwards, he also watch pictures that way, that's why he posted the picture mirrored. good luck with TL.net Yannis!

Welcome Yannis!
|
Hehe!
Thank you so much for all the positive and funny comments.
Upon closer inspection...I AM PUNCHING MYSELF on this picture as some said!! This photograph is a ghetto resolution sceen-grab from my webcam so it is not tampered in any way, there was just a window right in front of me and i was trying to not close my eyes when the sun was blasting my face.
I will indeed be one of the main commentators for the top 48 phase....and we will bring lots of amazing new features and media to TL.net so stay tuned
ps: Hello to all the Greeks! Elladara omadara!

LOL. Hot_Bid stopped dodging? It's fine...you obviously have great game sense, and I'm sure you'll learn very quickly. The amount of time you've been gone is tremendous, but you'll get up there soon.

i always thought the picture was rather sinister
like this is what i imagine when i see it
|
ive never played grand theft auto, and i don't speak greek
but is that a grand theft auto poster on the wall?
is the correct term "greek" or "grecian" ?

Much like Merlin, who lives backwards in time, Yannis lives backwards in space. He also has a rare disorder that prevents him from resting his head on his fist.
|
Game replay 1 is actually game rep 2 and game replay 2 is actually game rep 1
|
Fixed, Mani sucks :p
It was just the player names that were switched.
|
Hi Yannis! Thanks for the stuff you're doing
|
He almost looks Mafia.. that pic is very "Godfather" like.. Downloading the iview now, thanks Mani!
|
|
This Yannis guy looks too attractive to deal in computer games :-)
Good for me I am uncompromisingly hetereo, otherwise I might have some weird ideas :-)
Jassas anyway Yannis
|
Yea i know, but pro-gaming or going into modelling, will only put food on the table until you are 30-40 and you look like fucking death
So... I chose something more suitable for the long run, the games industry, which is booming.
I still can not accept i am so ridiculously bad after so many years. I expected more of me in SC.
Back to learning !!! I will be yet another Terran I decided!
|
Get.Midikem i was SLAYER in The_Feared . I lived with them in Grimsta , Kristiensand Norway. They are probably the best team-friends i had in all my pro gaming career.
Love to Fred,Madfrog,Jesse,HolyCow,Nexus and all the old-schoolers. 2001

hehe probably bumped into eachother afew times then on mag.. I was gm for Northrenders back then if you remember any alli guildnames. ^^
|
Maybe he sponsored the TSL?
|
I remember Northenders a lot. We would fight you with passion
|
Do you arena Yannis?
What do you think of wow as an esport?
|
wow as an esport is going to die as soon as Age of Conan and Warhammer online will be out. I did arena a lot i finished very high on all seasons, i gave up on S3. It is simply too boring and too gear oriented / setup counter oriented.
Wow is only known as a mmorpg potential esport because of its mass and user base. Not quality and candidacy as a good game to be a spectator esport.
Just wait for AOC and WAR.... AOC out in less than a month.
|
Kalos orisate!
(i really hope that means welcome ;p)

It does mean welcome in a very formal way :D
