+ Show Spoiler [Battlereports of all 4 games] + TeamLiquid Tournament 10 Lemonwalrus TeamLiquid Tournament #10 FinalsV_DrOp)Reaver VS. sMi.bRokeNA Starcraft Battle Report by Lemonwalrus
Game 1 The first game of this best of five series takes place on Peaks of Baekdu.
V_DrOp)Reaver, Protoss, warped in at the bottom left position, while sMi.bRokeN, terran, started off in the top right.
The build orders were as follows:
V_DrOp)Reaver - 8 Pylon, 11 Gateway, 12 Assimilator, 14 Cybernetics Core, and 15 Pylon. sMi.bRokeN - 9 Supply Depot, 11 Barracks, 12 Refinery, 16 Factory, and 16 Supply Depot.
V_DrOp)Reaver sends his eighth probe to scout northwards after opening the warp field for his first pylon, while sMi.bRokeN walls in with a barracks and two supply depots and waits to scout until he has reached 15 supply.
With his scouting probe, V_DrOp)Reaver discovers that his terran opponent has opted not to get any sort of detection as of yet, and accordingly climbs the tech tree towards a Templar Archives to take advantage of this oversight with Dark Templar.
sMi.bRokeN finally rids his base of the pesky probe scout with the creation of his first siege tank, which, along with his pair of marines, is able to corner and destroy the spy. Unfortunately for V_DrOp)Reaver, after the destruction of the scouting probe, sMi.bRokeN starts construction on an Engineering Bay, allowing him to construct a pair of Missle Turrets upon the arrival of the first Dark Templar soon after. That, combined with the Dark Templars innability to squeeze between the tightly packed Terran structures, repels the attempted Dark Templar rush without either side losing a unit (as the protoss wisely retreats in the face of soon to be finished Missle Turrets).

While leaving his base with the Dark Templar, V_DrOp)Reaver started construction on a Stargate, which will lead into his second surprise tactic against sMi.bRokeN this game.
Realizing that a Dark Templar fueled win is now most likely out of reach, V_DrOp)Reaver upgrades Dragoon sight range and warps in three more Gateways, settling in for the long haul. Almost simultaneously, sMi.bRokeN starts construction on his second Factory, which is followed by another pair of Factories shortly afterward.
Remember what I said about V_DrOp)Reaver having another trick up his sleeve? Well, that trick is the Arbiter Tribunal that he now warps in in his main while getting his new trio of Gateways.
His confidence bolstered after having repelled the Dark Templar, sMi.bRokeN now lifts his barracks and moves his primarily metal force to protect his natural as he floats his recently completed Command Center out from the southern corner of his main. He also uses this opportunity to place mines in key areas in the center of the map to both detect and hinder movement of protoss forces.
V_DrOp)Reaver uses this time to expand to his own natural while building Arbiters and starting research on their Recall ability. The package delivered with this new abiltiy is likely to be the growing number of Dragoons and Zealots in a massive blob just to the East of his Natural.
The competitors now trade a few units as Dark Templars cut down two of sMi.bRokeN's marines and vultures pop two reconnaissance probes of V_DrOp)Reaver. Although he no longer can hope for a win with strictly Dark Templar, V_DrOp)Reaver sends two more of the invisible units north, now controlling key ramps near the Terran base as he expands to the southeast corner of the map.
sMi.bRokeN quickly finds this protoss expansion, but loses two vultures in doing so. The Terran reciprocates with an expansion attempt of his own at the northwest corner of the map, but the scv is cut down by the invisible blade of a Dark Templar. sMi.bRokeN dispatches a small group of vultures to take out the protoss unit, and afterwards uses them to beef up the mineral field outside of the protoss natural. Unfortunately for him, V_DrOp)Reaver has no plans of walking towards the Terran base.

With his current three to two base advantage, V_DrOp)Reaver decides now is as good a time as any to recall into sMi.bRokeN's main, and sneaks an arbiter up the East side of the map and recalls a large force of Dragoons and zealots right next to the Terran Refinery. During the scuffle that ensues, V_DrOp)Reaver is able to take out a handful of Supply Depots, and Armory, and an Academy, before retreating his arbiter to a safe distance for a future attack. During the battle, sMi.bRokeN sneaks another SCV to the northwest corner and throws down a Command Center.

sMi.bRokeN now leaves his base with most of what remains of his army, and heads south towards the protoss controlled bottom of the map. Using the Arbiters cloaking ability, V_DrOp)Reaver is able to intercept and take out the numerically superior Terran force and continue North towards the enemy base.

sMi.bRokeN is able to retreat seven of his Siege Tanks to safety after the battle in the center, but now he is essentially without an army as V_DrOp)Reaver again recalls into his base. The protoss forces prove too much for the remaining Terran, and shortly after a third recall, sMi.bRokeN concedes, giving V_DrOp)Reaver the win.

Game 2 The second game of the series was fought over R-Point.
Both players kept the same races as the last game, and sMi.bRokeN started in the bottom right corner, while V_DrOp)Reaver started in the bottom left corner of the map.
The build orders were as follows:
sMi.bRokeN - 9 Supply Depot, 10 Barracks, 11 Refinery, 16 Factory, and 17 Supply Depot. V_DrOp)Reaver - 8 Pylon, 10 Gateway, 12 Assimilator, 14 Cybernetics Core, and 16 Pylon.
V_DrOp)Reaver sends his tenth probe out to find the Terran base after it begins construction on his Gateway. He unfortunately sends it North, away from sMi.bRokeN's base. At 15 supply, sMi.bRokeN sends the SCV that just finished building his Barracks out to scout for the protoss main. He also scouts North, away from his opponent's starting position.
V_DrOp)Reaver upgrades Dragoon sight range as soon as possible, and is luckily able to destroy the enemy SCV scout with his first Dragoon. sMi.bRokeN places his first two Marines on his ramp and is able to turn away the enemy scout before it can gather any useful intel. V_DrOp)Reaver's probe returns, however, with his first Dragoon as backup, but met with 2 Marines with high ground advantage, they sit out of range and wait for reinforcements.
sMi.bRokeN adds 2 Siege Tanks and another Marine to his defensive force, and then charges down his own ramp into the now 3 Dragoon and one Prope force. The Dragoons retreat relatively unscathed, but the Probe is lost in the scuffle.
During this minor engagement, both players have opted to expand to their naturals.
sMi.bRokeN now builds two more Factories, as V_DrOp)Reaver increases his Gateway count to five. sMi.bRokeN now floats his newly created Engineering Bay towards three Dragoons within range of one of his Siege Tanks. He is able to scare them off, but does not eliminate any of them, however they destroy an SCV that strays to close. sMi.bRokeN now evens the unit production building count by creating an additional pair of Factories.
V_DrOp)Reaver now uses his army of about seven Dragoons and a dozen Zealots to contain sMi.bRokeN within his main and natural, while the Terran upgrades both Vulture speed and Spider Mines and continues to beef up the defensive wall of Siege Tanks outside of his natural.
As he expands to his second natural, V_DrOp)Reaver launches a devastating attack on the defenses outside of sMi.bRokeN's natural in which he is able to destroy an Engineering Bay and almost all of the Terran army. sMi.bRokeN is able to save himself by pulling all of the mining SCVs from his natural and using them to repair the Bunker outside of his ramp, but the attack cripples the Terran greatly.
sMi.bRokeN sneaks 4 vultures out of his base and places mines in the center of the map, but while they are away, V_DrOp)Reaver makes a second push on the enemy natural and again both armies are nearly decimated during the fight, but sMi.bRokeN is able to keep the Protoss from breaking through.

Down, but not out, sMi.bRokeN places three of his Vultures in perfect position to virtually anihilate a line of probes as V_DrOp)Reaver Maynards them to his second natural. As this happens, V_DrOp)Reaver climbs the tech tree by putting up a Templar Archives, Stargate, and Robotics Facility in his main.

V_DrOp)Reaver is able to finally rid his second natural of the enemy Vultures, but as he does, sMi.bRokeN sends five more Vultures towards the enemy main, and is able to take out a few enemy units, place a few mines in enemy territory, and is now privy to his opponents new jump up the technology tree. V_DrOp)Reaver responds by warping in a Forge in his main to place some badly needed Cannons near his peonlines.
V_DrOp)Reaver now Warps in an Arbiter Tribunal and Observatory as he further widens the technology gap between him and his opponent.
sMi.bRokeN moves his now sizeable force of Siege Tanks and Vultures to the center of the map, and begins construction on a Missle Turret near the Protoss natural, but this attempt is foiled by a Dark Templar. V_DrOp)Reaver sees his opponents attempt to take the middle, and quickly responds by attacking as the opponent sieges up. Both sides sustain heavy casualties during the battle, but sMi.bRokeN retains control of the middle when the dust clears. However, he let his floating Engineering Bay stray too close to several of V_DrOp)Reaver's Dragoons, and lost it. The Terran expands to his second natural during this battle for control of the center of the map.

sMi.bRokeN relinquishes control of the center as he again assails the Protoss second natural with several Vultures. He is able to take out all but one of the enemy's probes at that base, but loses about a dozen Vultures in the process.
V_DrOp)Reaver sends an Observer and several Dragoons to the center to clear out the mines as sMi.bRokeN attempts to sneak around and attack the opponents second natural, but is thwarted by a 3 Pylon 1 Gateway wall constructed earlier by V_DrOp)Reaver, who is now training an Arbiter from his Starport.
Seeing that his opponent is protecting his natural with the volatile combination of Siege Tanks in siege mode and Spider Mines, V_DrOp)Reaver loads a Shuttle with 4 Zealots and drops them in and amongst the opponents defensive army. Although sMi.bRokeN targets his own mines with his Vultures to lessen the devastation of the "Zealot Bombs", V_DrOp)Reaver is able to take out 4 enemy siege tanks at the cost of 4 much less expensive Zealots.
V_DrOp)Reaver now double expands to the top left natural, and to the top right main, as sMi.bRokeN single expands to the top right second natural.
sMi.bRokeN dispatches with V_DrOp)Reaver's expansion in the top left with a dozen Vultures, and then sneaks a few of them past the cannons at the top right to shell the newly created Nexus. While this is going on, V_DrOp)Reaver loads up another Shuttle with Zealots, drops them in the Terran main and takes out an Armory, picks them up unscathed, and drops them on the newest Terran expansion to kill several SCVs.

V_DrOp)Reaver now moves out of his base with his large army, featuring 3 Arbiters and attacks sMi.bRokeN from the north. This time using the Arbiters for Stasis instead of recall, V_DrOp)Reaver is able to do enough damage to force a concession from sMi.bRokeN.
Elapsed Time: 24:07. Record: 2-0 V_DrOp)Reaver.

Game 3
We now go to Longinus for the third game of the series.
Both players are again the same races as before, and sMi.bRokeN gets the right middle starting position while V_DrOp)Reaver starts in the top left.
The build orders are as follows:
sMi.bRokeN - 9 Supply Depot, 12 Barracks, 12 Refinery, 14 Supply Depot, 17 Factory. V_DrOp)Reaver- 8 Pylon, 11 Gateway, 12 Assimilator, 14 Pylon, 18 Cybernetics Core (due to making a zealot previously).
V_DrOp)Reaver sends the probe that builds his first pylon south after starting the pylon to scout at the bottom left corner for his opponent. sMi.bRokeN waits until after his first Factory is completed to scout the bottom left for the Protoss base, just as the first zealot of the game heads towards sMi.bRokeN's' base.
Along with the scouting probe which managed to escape sMi.bRokeN's first marine unscathed, toss begins to harass terran, almost killing an unusually placed marine, he forces the terran to pull 6 of his scvs to fend off the attackers. And with micro not usually found on a drunkard like himself, he manages to kill the zealot and probe, losing only 2 marines unit-wise.
Broken's “I could've lost cus of this”.
After the skirmish, the sleeping scv at the lower left base comes back from his slumber and heads towards the protoss base, who has 2 gates steadily producing goons, typical of protosses in this map, while terran has 2 factories both making machine shops and placed in the weirdest attempt ive ever seen to narrow the main choke, and probably not the most effective since units will spawn right between the factories and most likely, V_DrOp)Reaver's goons. However, V_DrOp)Reaver doesn't have as many goons as he could have and he only manages to kill an almost dead marine and scv before having to retreat. However he was able to take a look at the obvious terran attempt to try to end the game soon. V_DrOp)Reaver responds to the threat by “hiding” a citadel in his nat, (im not so sure if thats such a good idea vs 2 factory-vultures, but im no toss player). The scv dies before managing to scout the citadel and sMi.bRokeN probably thinks hes expanding because of the pylon he did manage to scout placed in his nat, as he decides to attack right away with the 2 tanks, 2 marines and lone vulture he already has. V_DrOp)Reaver tries to snipe some kills with the 3 goons placed outside terran's nat, sadly, goon range hasn't finished researching yet and instead he ends up losing all 3 goons for a single marine. sMi.bRokeN's manouver here is worth noticing though, he chases back those 3 goons towards the ramp to the left of his base with his tanks and marines while trying to rally the vultures straight towards the protoss base, taking the upper path. Unluckily for him, V_DrOp)Reaver has chosen not to let his goons idle and his reinforcements come attack-moving from the same path.
Broken's manouver.
sMi.bRokeN places a couple of mines outside his main while sending everything he has towards the toss. V_DrOp)Reaver makes a bad call and tries to chase the barely damaged tanks and marines that the other 3 goons couldnt kill. A better call would've probably been keeping those outside of terrans main, halting reinforcements. The protoss has also been idle for a while in his base, his minerals are up to 500, only one of his gates is producing and he hasnt started his templar archives yet; it doesn't look too good for the undisputed winner of the previous games. The first brave vulture that arrives at the protoss base dies without landing a single mine, but not in vain, as he saw the citadel and now the terran is no longer figthing for the wrong purpose, though the result remains the same. V_DrOp)Reaver's inactivity at his base has left him figthing 2 tanks and 2 vultures with a goon that gets slaughtered swiftly and the desperate 2 other reinforcements that have to accept taking fire without retaliation to rush past the mines before they are ready to be triggered.
The burrowed nightmares.
V_DrOp)Reaver's micro (or rather sMi.bRokeN's lack of it?) gives him some room to breathe, however his money has risen up to almost 800 and both of his gateways are inactive, his observers are still going to take some time to be made and his archives have not finished warping yet.
Soon the protoss loses all but 1 of his goons (with 7 hp) to mines, and it will be his dts vs the terrans constant stream of vultures. What toss could've and maybe should've at this point is to finish walling his main choke with pylons, get a 3rd gate, mass goons, get observer asap and hope that with a dt drop his build isnt all useless. He does try to wall in, however far too late and the almost dead defendant as well as the probe are easy prey for the 2 vultures which mine his gates and harass the probes, while the dts still in the make can only wish V_DrOp)Reaver had chosen goons instead.
sMi.bRokeN shows no sign of ever stopping the attack and he almost has a 3rd factory built, without stopping to even expand. His drunken micro makes him lose 3 out of 4 vultures vs probes, however V_DrOp)Reaver has only 2 probes mining minerals and all he can hope to achieve this game is to piss sMi.bRokeN with bad mannered gayness. However that does not happen, and after realizing his goon will be too late to stop the constant terran reinforcements, he concedes to retreat to a terrain that better suits his mischievous plans.
Great way to exploit the protoss mistakes from sMi.bRokeN's part. Elapsed Time: 15:58. Record: 2-1 V_DrOp)Reaver

Game 4
Not contempt with defeat, V_DrOp)Reaver picks longinus 2 to revindicate with his protoss gods.
The build orders are as follows: sMi.bRokeN - 9 Supply Depot, 11 Barracks, 12 Refinery, 17 Factory, 18 Supply Depot, 18 Command Center. V_DrOp)Reaver - 8 Pylon, 10 Gateway, 11 Assimilator, 14 Cyberneticus core, 15 Pylon, 16 Gateway (same as the previous one, except for the zealot). V_DrOp)Reaver now starting at the right spot of the map, sporting yellow pants and a slightly better timed build, decides this time to send his 10th probe rather than his usual 8th towards the lower left base of the map, scanning for the unworthy dope-loving sacks of meat. However, sMi.bRokeN will have none of that and this game he does wall-in properly, now pretending to fast expo, as its most expected of terrans in this map, although his build order is lazy and slightly off. The robotic scout gets inside the terran's dominion before the wall is completed, while atmost at the same time the terran barracks finish and the previously building scv heads towards the right base, guessing correctly this time. sMi.bRokeN notices the 2 gate build and the cybernetics core hinting at some early harass, his first marine chases the trapped probe for a good 3 minutes or so, enough time for V_DrOp)Reaver to notice his early cc and lone factory, while his first goon moves close to the wall to harass one of the depots and to prevent scvs from repairing without support. The single goon makes sMi.bRokeN move 3 of his scvs to repair the supply depot, however, the goon switching targets to the scvs forces him to micro and take his attention off his other duties and so his cc and an scv go idle for a while.
This one's for you niteReloaded.
A terran tank finally pops out and it sieges to drive the strangers back, however only a bit and V_DrOp)Reaver rallies both his gates outside the terran natural, but stops producing from them for a while to expo. The scouting probe has died but its counterpart is still alive, due to V_DrOp)Reaver not caring about it or simply being too focused on other things. Either way the scv notices the toss finally taking his natural and the mineral only before it dies, while at home sMi.bRokeN keeps pumping scvs and tanks while building 3 more factories and foregoing his ebay for a while. Protoss meanwhile sets his expos up and starts a robotics facility, right after, just as hes starting his 3rd gateway, the terran decides to push out with the 5 tanks he has, he manages to kill 1 of the 7 goons outside of his nat and forces the others to pull back a little farther. As of now, the sMi.bRokeN has begun building his 5th factory, while V_DrOp)Reaver is just starting his 4th gateway and soon after an observatory and a citadel of adun. The terran seems to have an advantage due to his earlier natural and more factories, however he hasn't taken his second gas and in consequently, only one of his factories has a machine shop. sMi.bRokeN pushes again once he has a couple more vultures and ends up losing the 3 of them in exchange of a goon. Once the goons back enough he starts a cc on his mineral only.
Reaver's beautiful arc kills 3 vultures without even having to micro.
However he gets far too greedy and underestimates V_DrOp)Reaver who uses the high ground to kill 3 of the highly priced tanks in exchange for 3 goons, and moments later reinforcements arrive to leave only 1 tank alive and the floating barracks burning.
sMi.bRokeN puts 2 more factories, however he still hasn't taken his gas and is still pumping tanks from only 1 factory
Neat positioning, but vultures cant fight goons too well.
The first observers make their appearance on this world, although they show no sign of even wanting to leave the protoss main to at least scout terran possible exits for vultures. Unusual on a toss of this level. Finally after having 3 obs out, one goes towards the terran bases, just in time to catch the insulting defense composed of 2 tanks and 13 vultures, this motivates V_DrOp)Reaver to move his army of 12 goons and a shuttle full with zealots to the high ground just outside sMi.bRokeN's mineral only. He peaks at the terrans now reinforced defense, kills a vulture a floating ebay and a couple of mines while sending a probe to the top right expo, before being scared away by the sieged tanks. Despite terran's previous superior ammount of factories (now toss has warped 1 more gate than the terran), the toss has almost 30 more supply than him, hes just starting his comsats and his first attempt at using his vultures was sending them towards a goon killing a mine, not the smartest move imo since the rest of the goons will be able to assist their comrade with anticipation thanks to the obs that obviously remains watching over the ramp.
The vultures retreat, lay some mines and go back to their eternal idle, moments later the terran decides its time to move out, however his spending for the last 3 minutes has been awful, his money has skyrocketed to 1300 and he has only 1 comsat which he hasn't used at all since it was built and hes pushing into the unknown. sMi.bRokeN sieges his tanks just above the ramp, placing himself in the middle of a sweet flank, almost killing nothing and losing every single tank he had.
All the hopes he may have had of coming back to take the series were shattered in less than 5 seconds.
Elapsed Time: 11:58. Record: 3-1 V_DrOp)Reaver Congratulations to V_DrOp)Reaver. This ends the finals of Team Liquid's 10th tournament, thank you all simply for motivating me into hosting these.
