Welcome to LiquiScoop, the #1 weekly newsletter for everything that goes on in the Teamliquid.net forums! Here you'll find notable threads, notable posters, and some fun original content as well.
A big thanks to IntoTheWow and dronebabo for their tireless help, as well as Smurg , who does the great photoshop work for us. Without them, LiquiScoop would not happen. Enjoy!
WE ARE BACK!
We are back from hiatus in our new stronger, better bi-weekly edition. Do not worry! We are still alive and will continue to be until further notice.
Everyone from the LiquiScoop team was on vacation, so I had to track them down. I found IntoThewow in the Argentinian countryside, shirtless, improving his shuriken accuracy. Dronebabo was naked in a preschool classroom trying to sell deviant pornography. Smurg was helping Oxy photoshop that pornography. They sold like hot cakes. + Show Spoiler +

Notable Threads
A showmatch between TL.net and BGHers.com will happen this Saturday. Will TL lay the smackdown? Will we get crushed by the $$$$? Are the Fastest Map players next in line? Talk about it here.
The Featured Threads section, other than stealing all of the notable threads that would normally be featured in LiquiScoop, has Seven Stars: HonestTea, rinizim, anyname, infinity21, Physician, Cadical, and Live2Win. Also add ilovecats, formerly TopTalent, to that list as well for his contributions. Thank you for all that you've contributed to TL.net! You guys really make this place worth visiting.
Create your own OSL Bracket if you haven't already. Predictions close at 24:00 TL time today.
Starcraft 2 by 2008? There have been a ton of rumors, but taken collectively they have to mean something right? In the meantime, play Strip Jessica Alba.

LiquiScoop Poll of the Week
There has been a lot of discussion regarding the Homework Crusade. Let us see what TL.net users truly think about this issue. + Show Spoiler +
Poll: HW Threads at TeamLiquid? (Vote): Yes! Always. (Vote): Yes, only if it creates good discussion. (Vote): No.
Poll: Overall Effect of the HW Crusade? (Vote): Positive (Vote): Negative (Vote): Neutral
Poll: Should the HW Crusade Continue? (Vote): Yes. (Vote): No. (Vote): Yes, but only the "bad" HW Threads
Each week, we at LiquiScoop find one thread from the Closed Forum. These threads are diamonds in the rough, underappreciated secret threads that the Mods did not want you to see. They will now get their well-deserved time in the spotlight. Unfortunately you can't post in them, but you can view them, jaws agape in utter awe, mouth salivating in anticipation at what hidden treasures the Closed Forum will yield next week.

The first poll imo is retarded. The other 2 choices are obviously inferior to the "Yes but only if it makes good discussion" choice so most people just vote that and it seems like everyone agrees that HW threads should make for good discussion if they to not get the boot. How do you not understand that sometimes the nature of the question won't encourage discussion, or that theres no need for discussion in the first place?

hey, homework jesus, we're making an effort here to understand your side and poll the population, but here you are complaining again. how about instead of polling and listening to complaints about the crusade we tell everyone to flame in every [H] thread? will that make you complain less?
Hahahaha check this out, from this week's Old Closed Forum Thread:

don't make me laugh, this topic was just a spamming place to get more posts, no one care about playlists. It's not like you are discussing anything. And now you are actually starting another one to complain the obvious? you win the award
edit: want another reason why you should get banned? look at #1921 of your playlist, sicko

Using a flawed poll isn't exactly very helpful. A simple statement like "Think twice before you go "crusading" in a thread" which is made very clear and made so that people will definitely notice it would be far better, or a thread where people are free to express their thoughts on what HW threads should be allowed, instead of having to follow "Yes but only if it makes good discussion" choice.

It is an excuse to act foolish and immature.
But yes I really should drop it, because niether side is willing to change.
FINALLY. FORTY FIVE OF THE LONGEST DAYS OF MY LIFE!
As for the HW threads, skyglow is absolutely right. It is an excuse to act immature and foolish, because that never happens anywhere else on this board.

And yeah, homework threads getting out of control. Seems like everyone is so damn eager to post something in one, they'll jump on anything that even hints at it...

/me nods head vehemently in agreement.
Holy crap you used the word "vehemently" now I love you more.
Good job on the new Liquiscoop, but again, there's this problem: Praising the anti-HW movement and at the same time asking those questions in the poll. Not only are they biased, they're more like "Heeeey peopleee! How do you like our crusade so far!!! Can I hear a hell yeah!!! Heaaaall yeah sheeple!!". Where's that an honest question? Winding up the crowd and then asking if u're doing a good job? I'm confused.
I don't even understand it anymore. Not a tiniest bit. Do you guys just need threads as an excuse to spam and act immature? Maybe we should make a subforum for that then?
im not sure i understand you mynock, where do we praise the anti-HW movement?
the "triumphs" part, all six links are clearly not the good kind of HW thread, none i list are the "borderline" cases that are being contested so hotly
i certainly didn't mean to create the poll as a way to "pump up" the pro crusade crowd, i was legitimately being honest in asking for a response, and if enough people said no (doesn't have to be a majority) i would call for an end to it.
i don't think it comes off the way you say it does, i think you and skyglow are as biased against the crusade as some people are for it.
also, while some people use the crusade as a way to act immature and flame, i would be 100% behind faster moderator involvement regarding closing HW threads. the only reason the crusade was started was because mods couldn't close fast enough, not because i want to post random shit in a topic.
lastly how are the questions biased? please give me examples of "unbiased" questions?
Unbiased would be adding options like "No, not even the bad ones" or "No. Never!" in synch with "Yes. Always!", and how about giving two ''No" options since there are two for "Yes", etc... I think u know what I mean.
And yes I'm irritated by this movement because it's everywhere. It's not confined to special threads that I can choose to ignore, but permeates the whole forum. And ruins certain threads I'd like to read. It's not isolated, it's an attitude. That makes it a whole notch worse than a couple threads you can easily ignore if you're not interested. I never see you posting in any political threads, yet I don't see you complaining either.
Admit that you're having major fun with this whole crusade idea, and won't let easily go of it.
And finally, how about we just treat those thread like any others, and close them if they suck, leave them to their fate if they don't? Why this distinction in the first place? It's all utterly unnecessary, let alone now that we see the negative effects of the other side of it as well.

"would be 100% behind faster moderator involvement regarding closing HW threads."
Yeah exactly. Not behind the closing of stupid threads. Behind the closing of HW threads. Regardless.
obviously i mean closing of bad hw threads, i even made it clear in previous scoops that the legit ones are fine. when did i ever say we should close all of them?
also, about the alleged "bias" of the poll, two "yes" options imo are better for your argument than mine. the two "yes" options were for "should HW threads exist"?
so i don't understand, if anything two "yes" options to "should HW threads exist" is biased FOR the existence of HW threads...
and i already stated, if mods close the threads faster, there's no reason for the crusade to exist. i don't know where you got the "won't easily let go of it" because i haven't even posted flames or spam in the last like 5 crusades (some of which were incorrectly targeting legit HW threads).
its funny how you completely misinterpret my feelings on this subject, i really do listen to the feedback and while i disagree with you on some points, i believe that it has gotten out of hand and needs to stop. you weren't on MSN when i'm telling babo or wow that "no, this isn't a bad help thread, no, that isn't a bad HW thread."
the poll results show that there is a significant portion of the population that doesn't like the crusade, (something like 36% "negative" and 10% "neutral") so in the next scoop i was planning to call off the whole thing.
i just don't like how you make all these assumptions about my motivations and such when all i'm trying to do with CleaR, LiquiScoop, etc, is to improve the General Forum through effort in posting. it's kind of frustrating when all you do is make sarcastic comments and personal attacks when we're all on the same side here.
i think its good that we care and that we try. i will, as i planned, call it off in the next scoop. sometimes ideas with good intentions run away and don't work out the way you planned them, but that's no reason to assume things about me personally.
when the crusade is called off in the next LS, i urge faster mod closing of bad hw threads. "bad" as in very clear that its last minute lazy answer begging.
i am disappointed that you went to the personal attacks/assumptions immediately about this, and that your tone is really condescending.
I didn't mean to sound that way, but again I did. I was merely feeling that way because just a couple days ago you wanted closing rights exclusively for HW threads, and then this current issue of LS also featured "triumphs" etc.
And yes, the whole "crusade" thing also ticked me off. And since other staff (Mani, ETT, JKS, others...) also expressed their concerns about it I felt you were being thickheaded. Hence the assumptions.
But I never actually meant to assume that you were purely doing it for your personal enjoyment and not with good intentions for the side.
Sry again
PS.: Good job calling it off after all. Let the mods do their jobs.
PPS: Surprised no one mentioned it yet, but that Garimto pic startled the shit outta me.
It seems that the "flamers" in homework threads usually do not even bother to read the op post when seeing a homework help request, further aggravating the problem.
At least read the content of the post and think twice what you're posting before you do so... all too often I see a borderline op post get the full treatment --;;
By the way I believe this motion to stop bad homework threads has helped though, since if you look back to before all of this started, and compare it to the situation now, you would see that statistically there are less homework threads, and the ones that do pop up are generally of much higher quality. Before, I dont think there were even very many "borderline" op posts. There were very good posts, ones which I had absolutely no clue how to answer (WiP and a one or more posters come to mind. shit your math is way beyond me --;, then there were the absolutely terrible posts. Now there are fewer terrible threads (although there are still a few from time to time), and maybe those really bad threads have moved toward the "borderline" class?
In any case if everyone keeps Mani's mantra of "Making a thread should be an effort by the poster", then I am sure things would be much cleaner.
I asked for some help / suggestions about PP and my broodwar situation, and I tried hard to make it worth while to readers and explain the situation throuroughly. I hope I did at least a decent job at that. A lot of my posts are shitty, but I hope most of the threads I start are at least of acceptable quality. Thanks for reading, I guess :O
I should purposely make a "HW" thread on a genuine question, puts lots of effort into it, but place everything into a spoiler and attempt to make the non-spoiler material look messy, lacking in effort and retarded.
The sad thing is that there will still be many who spam without first noticing I put effort in the post, just that its in a spoiler. In fact, I think I am going to do it and see how it works out before the crusade is called off in the next LS. I've been studying alot and some stuff I don't understand too T_T

Hey, yesterday the thread in the old forum linked directly to it (you know the one they pick out "diamond in the ruff") but today it doesn't link directly to it, how come? It was a really good thread it had links to movies and shows ect... tried using search but it didn't help.

I don't think even half of the posters in the recent maths thread read the initial post. They saw the crusading that had already started, and simply jumped on the bandwagon. I consider this simply mindless spamming.
skyglow, with your anti-anti-hw crusade, you have effectively ruined the responses to this liquiscoop and every single other thread with any sort of hw related material
