So I quickly got on TL and saw the confirmation of my suspicions: Liquid' Jinro Retires Now I've got a few words to say. Jinro, you've been an inspiration to us all. Not only were you "that guy from Sweden who went to Korea and got far in the GSL". You were a symbol. You were someone who dared to chase his dream. I mean, for many of us, becoming a progamer in Korea is kind of like... it represents this idea that no matter who you are and what you desire, if you really want it and are willing to work very, very hard to achieve it, then nothing is unattainable. Like some people probably want to become... progamers, writers, scientists, artists, what have you, yet they don't follow up on their dreams for whatever reasons - the risks involved, lack of confidence in their own ability, pressure from others (like with MKP and his parents who wanted him to become a lawyer), choosing the easier path... to paraphrase, taking the road more taken. The act of doing what you love regardless of the circumstances is something I have come to really appreciate in life. Jinro, you were among those wonderful people who showed me that. And now, I'm extremely glad that you were able to pull that off again: to once more look at your current position and choose to do what makes you happy. So... good luck, and have fun! | ||

I will always and forever look back fondly on the early season of the GSL where you advanced to the Ro8 and faced off against IdrA. Few things highlight Starcraft 2 for me, as fondly as those good ol' days. There was even this independant tourney of Gorilla vs the Gracken - yet another incredible time I'll always remember. I dearly wish we could bring those days back. Can we just do the Gorilla vs Gracken please, just one last time? | ||
