MorroW abused a 5-rax speed-reaper build at IEM Cologne 2010 to beat IdrA in the finals. This made them later put speed upgrade for reapers at factory tech when this build gained popularity.

Massive goosebumps when reading about Jinros GSL run. That was the best SC2-watching experience I've ever had. Thanks for the flashbacks :')

God man i miss the days of Jinro and Fruitdealer ( though thats not to say either wont return). I remember staying up so damn late to watch Jinro play every single night he was in the GSL. Polt unveiling the infamous polt timing attack (1/1/1 -> raven with bio) against minchul (MC) and crushhing with it on Scrap Station. Plus FDs super clutch ultralisks vs TOP on Kulas Ravine was so damn exciting. The energy behind SC2 at the time was just amazing, everyone was so into discovering what the game had to offer. I hope HOTS will generate similar hype!

Nice writeup, thanks guys

I know I keep comming back to it, but ro64 in GSL season 2, Polt vs. MinChul g1 on Scrap Station was a real gamechanger for me, Polt proved himself already then in my oppinion - He basicly invented the 1-1-1, 1 year before it became popular vs. Protoss.. I can really recommend going back and watching that game

Such lovely memories. I'm so glad that you put Fruitdealer up there where he belongs. I hate people nowadays who hate on the level of play in the first few open seasons. People don't have an appreciation for the evolution or development of the game, and in my opinion it inhibit the ways in which they can appreciate it. Without Fruitdealer providing that first epic narrative, SC2 at the professional level would have suffered in terms of establishing itself as a real sport or a real esport. The stories for those first three open seasons were far more compelling than the narratives that followed. One of the reasons is because of their fighting against the Terran dominance, but also because of the way they were brood war pros who didn't accomplish much, but were able to struggle to get to the top of this new game.
