The fact that Moon is an entire rung below folks who are wholesale more inconsistent (as Inconsistency is Moon's biggest fault) and have worse straight up results than him both in and out of GSL Makes his really low position pretty silly. Admittedly, I'm no expert on the WC3 scene, so if that's incorrect I can change it. Check and Violet were known players, but did not reach the top tier.

It's just a list though, everyone has an opinion.

You should take a look at some of the things he has complained about and then take a look at patches 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 ![]() Someone has to speak up, idra is just known because his team doesn't stop him from doing so. (like ret) hahaha yy keep telling yourself that. Im sure blizzard follows idra closely and doesnt actually patch if no previous whine has already occurred. Oh and while we're at it, lets give credit to all those people who were suggesting archons become massive.

The article is obviously very form heavy, basically a current ability list, it would be interesting to contrast it with a SC2 "greatness" list, based on who a player has beaten and their opponents over the duration of SC2. For instance someone like Nada is rated very high in this list, yet his record against opponents in the list isn't all that great. A few stats from looking through TL profiles and comparing it with the list: Nada: - 21 W versus 20 L (51 %) against 64 man list - 10 W versus 15 L (40 %) against top 20 - 3 W versus 10 L (30 %) against top 10 - 0 W versus 3 L (0 %) against top 5 MarineKing: - 54 W versus 33 L (62 %) against 64 man list - 20 W versus 22 L (47 %) against top 20 - 14 W versus 18 L (43 %) against top 10 - 11 W versus 16 L (40 %) against top 5 Marineking's record against players excluding the three bosses, Nestea, MC and MVP, is exceptional, his record of 1-7 against MVP puts a big whack on his stats. Clearly his resume and calibre across the breadth of SC2 is considerably better than Nada. Looking purely at numbers is disadvantageous for MarineKing however because he is a victim of his own success, having played 20 games against the aforementioned badarses. Regardless of MarineKing's clear decline, and Nada's improvement, i can't put Nada above MarineKing even with a heavy form emphasis, there is too much of a difference in resume and achievements.

There were a lot of top tier players in WC3 that were as good as Moon/Grubby/Lyn, but they all quit while those three continued to play the game for a long time. Although I'd have to say that Check was really good until he stopped practicing WC3/got lazy, and Violet was up and coming. It's not surprising that the WC3 pros aren't showing that great results in SC2. It's a totally different game. WC3 was more intensely micro based, where the best micro would win the game. There IS micro in SC2, but micro just isn't as important as macro in this game due to the fact that more units are usually better than well controlled units. In WC3, you'd memorize a build order that usually had a maximum of 13 workers on one base, and 5-7 workers at each expansion (which were not plentiful usually) I'm hoping they do better though. EDIT: Surprised that MC/MVP/Nestea aren't ALL #1. I don't think they should be put in that order.

1) NesTea 2) MC 3) MVP 4) MarineKing 5) Bomber 6) Nada 7) July 8) Losaira 9) MMA 10) Alicia Top four have all proven themselves they can make a final. The top three are in a league of their own. All three hold two titles. NesTea is currently on a tear and just swept the last Code S, so he's first. MC would be 2nd because he might have faltered, but he never went down to Code A and has been wracking up victories outside Korea. MVP for 3rd; in Code A, but still would pick him over the people below him in a Best of 5. MarineKing is a great player, but still hasn't been able to get over his nerves. He seems to choke whenever all the pressure is on him. Doesn't matter if it's a final or an ace match in the team league, he seems to just lose it and play differently than usual. Still would rank him there because he's shown consistently that he could win the tournament with stronger confidence. Bomber could be #4, but hasn't done crap in Code S yet. He also has said to have nerves, a reason why it took him forever to appear in GSL, but he got in finally and STOMPED Code A. I think he might be the second best player currently in the world behind NesTea, but he still needs to prove himself in the spotlight. This is his coming out party. He could have a date with NesTea in the Ro32; which, in my mind, could mean the whole tournament. Nada/July are the old guard. Nada always ends up in the Top 8. July was in the finals not too long ago and has the experience to make it very deep. Would not be shocked if either of these made it to the finals. Losaira, MMA and Alicia are the new young guns of their respective races. Losaira and Alica showed last Code S that they both could be challenging for a title really soon, and MMA has proved in the GSTL that he has the talent to beat anyone in the world. It might be this season or a few from now, but I think these three could come and take the places of the current Big 3 (NesTea, MC, MVP) in the GSL scene. Notables: SC. I was debating putting him in the 10th spot over Alicia, but I think Alica, in the Slayers house, has a better chance of improving alongside people like Boxer, MMA, Ryung, etc than SC who is stuck on a team that is currently on a down turn except for him. Still an incredible player who could very well make the final. Great article by the way. Always wanted to do a big Power Rankings of the current GSL combatants, but never could decide past the top fifteen or so. Would love to see more!
