Good stuff as usual !
You missed one important thing though, the "real Go4SC2 #100" which was an invitational-only cup with only players who won 2+ Go4SC2 (Kas, BratOK, Adel, Stephano, Cloud...)

Stephano placed first beating Sjow, Naama, Kas and finally Cloud 3-1 in the finals (!)

edit : My bad I thought it was older !

imperYal, I'm very aware of the event, you linked the wrong event's bracket, and the event you're referring to didn't occur during this edition's time period. It'll be up in next edition.

[image loading] Hawk - $500

I knew I'd seen this name before. It's the same vileHawk (Z) as the one that went to MLG.

Here's a source:
vileHawk (Z) dominates TeSPA

So many medium sized (5k-10k) tournaments in EU, they do not get enough exposure. Kas is scary!

This!
I feel like we need better platforms (news sites etc) to keep up with this and Five them exposure - especially for the sponors (Yes, credit to them, cuz a) without them this wouldnt happen and b) they have to feel that they get a benefit out of it to keep on throwing money into the system).
Really miss awesome, professional websites in the scene (yeah, tl.net is awesome but its not a newssite or anything close to that).

Great writeup!!!

It's ridiculous how many tournaments there are. I try to keep up but I've seen like 2 of these, and more than half of them I think I've never even heard of.

Great write up, made me realize how much is really going on right now in SC2.

As others have said, it would be awesome to find a better system to display tournament info in an easy to find way beyond TL threads and the schedule because I feel a lot of these tournaments could disappear if they believe there isn't enough interest, when in reality it's just that no one actually knows they are going on.

Anyway, congratulations to all the winners!

To you guys, and to anyone else who has this problem, check out the TL BIG event tracker by clicking on 'events' at the of the page. Additionally, you can find a lot of these smaller events by visiting the normal tournament tracker (Events --> Tournament Tracker). Lastly, the TL calendar also gives you some great info on tournaments that are incoming.

While the sources just listed may not cover -EVERYTHING- they cover nearly every online tournament that is properly run, reported, and advertised (And most of the major offline ones too). Most of the tournaments that go unnoticed are NOT the fault of TL or the community, but of the people who run them. For example, take a look at the thread for 'Gamer's Assembly'. That's the only mention of this tournament on this forum that I'm aware of, and it wasn't even written by tournament staff. If someone is organizing a tournament THAT LARGE, and isn't taking the few minutes to properly make a post about it on TL, that's their failure. Their big, huge, dumb, failure. Alternatively, look at an event like the Copenhagen Games. It has about the same prize pool, but managed to draw way more top level players and a ton of attention from the community. Why? Because it was handled better.

Exhibit A: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=200485
Exhibit B: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=215635

Not only is it in the content, but WHO posted it. The only reason Gamer's Assembly was even on TL was because some heroic member decided "wtf, why didn't they mention this on TL anywhere?" The first of the two was in the calendar, and big tournament tracker as well.

All in all, You can't blame the community if nobody tells them in the first place. Whoever ran Gamer's Assembly had ample opportunity to submit/offer information for the TL Big tournament tracker, the TL tracker, the calendar, and to make a thread, but they didn't. If they don't want to spring to do that, it's also unlikely they'd spring to offer that same information to a 'news site'.

I'm not entirely sure that an SC2 'news site' like you guys are suggesting would do any better than TL at being a hub for upcoming tournament information. =)

No worries, i did not at all mean that TL/its community arent doing a great job Still think its far from perfect.
But no I don't have much better idea, although i think wellplayed.org was a kind of nice idea, but yeah, not really perfect too

But cuz of the Status Quo this writeup is even better + more important!

A bit more numbers for you:

In the 5 issues of this round up, ~$176,955 USD has been given out in cash, plus all the prizes. I don't have the time to dig up January 1st through February 13th, but I'd guess that probably another $25k (plus prizes) was given out over that span, putting us close to $200k in SC prize money alone for the year, and we're only 4 months in.

Bigger tournaments are in store for the rest of the year, so I'm guessing that we'll see SC2 prize money clear $750k this year, if not more. $1M is a very real possibility with some of the prize handouts coming up in the coming months (TSL, more MLG, NASL...)

Once we hit some sort of reasonable time period, I plan to put together some sort of stat sheet. =)

Cool stuff, that's a ton of money compared to BW. =)
