TeamLiquid TeamSpeak 3 Server
TL TeamSpeak 3 Server is now up and running! As previously announced, TeamSpeak has provided TL with a dedicated server for our community to use. This server currently has 200 user slots and is open to anyone with a TL forum account.
To setup TeamSpeak, follow the instructions on the link below:
http://www.teamliquid.net/mytlnet/teamspeak.php (You can also access this link to setup/connect to teamspeak from the bottom of the left side bar on TL - under Replays)
Your TeamSpeak identity is linked to your TL forum account, so any bans will carry over automatically. The 10 Commandments and other general forum rules apply on the TeamSpeak server as well.
Any questions, comments, or issues can be posted in the TL Community thread. I will be updating that post with any updated news regarding the TS3 server, FAQ's, and tutorials.
Frequently Asked Questions
+ Show Spoiler [TeamSpeak Server FAQ] +Q: Can I request a private/passworded channel for my team?
A: One of the major difference from Ventrilo will be that permanent channels will be strictly limited to significant TL community based groups (TL WoW guild, LoL, TL EvE, DotA/HoN etc). Instead, all TL members will now have the ability to create their own 'temporary' channels (channel disappears if no one is in it) in 'User Channels'. To create your own temporary channel, go into 'User Channels', right click on 'User Channels' -> Create Sub-Channel -> Type in a name and password (optional) -> click 'OK'.
Q: If our group meets that requirements above, how do I get my channel created?
A: PM TheMango on TL with the channel name, what it will be used for, and a password.
Q: Can someone without a teamliquid, net forum account still use the TeamSpeak server?
A: Yes and No. As of now, guest accounts will be able to connect to the TeamSpeak server, but will not be able to create their own temporary channels and will only have access to the few public channels.
Q: What is the TL TS3 Server IP/Port information?
A: ts3.teamliquid.net / Port: 9988
Q: Can I use a different TS3 name/nick than my TL.net forum account?
A: Yes, you can change your nick to whatever you want, but it will still be linked to your forum account.
Q: Will the TL Ventrilo server be shutting down?
A: Yes, I will be scaling down the number of slots over the next few months and it will eventually be shut down sometime in 2011.

Nice!!! It will be the first thing I gonna try after i get home.

Nice! TS > Ventrilo and has always been.
|
awesome, been meaning to try this out
|
|
This is amazing, the TL vent was ok but anyone could just come in and start yelling or doing w/e but with teamspeak we can create a channel and make a password for say two, people that want to 2v2 without any interruptions.
Will be using this a lot. Thx TL!
|
Ill try it out
|
so you can only join if you have a TL-Account right? so if i want to play with someone who doesn´t have a TL-Account he can´t join the TL-TS-server?
|
"Hey, welcome to the TL Teamspeak server. What are you wearing?"
Things are starting to heat up in here.

Sweet, looks pretty cool.

And Mumble > TS2 :p .
I have not tested TS3 yet because all the people I play with are using mumble nowadays, but i will definitely try it out . And being able to create your own channel is really great!. Thanks a lot to both TL and TeamSpeak for providing this server !
|
Ooo, I love TL and I love TS3, today is going to be awesome ^^

It makes me sad that the vent channel is going away, I've never been fond of Teamspeak. Maybe 3.0 is better.
|
finally we can flame ppl via voice - yay :D

Sorry for the newb question but what's the difference between using TeamSpeak and Ventrilo?
NVM READ THE FAQ AFTER I POSTED!
Is TeamSpeak better than Vent? Why the switch? Cost-effective? I'm assuming the vent server was quite pricey...
|
Teamspeak has 'team' just like Teamliquid therefore better.
Teamspeak just has way better features with the 3.0 update, try it out and see.
|
To turn off notifications go to Settings - options - notifications - sound pack and select sounds deactivated.
|
teamspeak has tended to be much more popular in europe, I'm slightly apprehensive to have to have both programs on my computer, but in the need of having to hope on a server, I suppose I will have to DL and use TS at some point. It is quite sad to see the vent server go but so are the spoils of war!

Sweet, thank you!

I was perfectly happy with vent before but I'm willing to try Teamspeak 3.0 out because of this. I wasn't too fond of the older versions but I'm sure it has some new good features.
|
I've never really used teamspeak, but my ventrilo is seriously fucking up so this seems totally awesome. Thanks teamspeak.

Can't connect.

Sounds awesome, totally going to try this

This is awesome! I think I've been permanently banned from the server though by Chobopeon; it was raining at my house and I connected and said hi, and he kicked me because of background noise, and now it won't let me connect again

you're not in the ban list, try reconnecting in a few minutes, might be a temporary auto ban by the TS3 server
|
this is soo cool,
cant wait until the next gsl days, talking to people about sc lol

i definitely did not mean to ban you! it was just some bad background noise annoying everyone, i hope you are able to get back on and fix it all up. if problems persist for you i will try to help, i'd feel bad if you couldnt get back on.

how does this compare to mumble?

In terms of latency/voice quality, which seems to be the main draw of mumble, TS3 seems just as good to me. Give TS3 a try, you can make your own judgement
|
Thank you for supporting Teamliquid Teamspeak!

Gotta agree, my wow guild is hosting their own mumble server from a guildy at his house and we love mumble :D
|
The integration with TL accounts is pretty cool. I hope there's enough room for everyone.
|
Well I guess this just gives me an excuse to download TeamSpeak... Never tried it before, so this might be nice.
|
This is incredible! Thanks a lot
|
|
Enjoying it so far
|
GG vent servers, you've served TL LoL well.
|
Much sadness I've used Ventrilo, TS2, and TS3, and Ventrilo is the best option of them all. TS3 just isn't very good T_T Better quality and features on vent.
|
Ventrillo's (and Mumble's) main draw for me is voice quality. I'll be sad if TS3 ends up being closer to TS2 in that regard, but I'll try it out.
Hopefully there will be sound compression and normalization in team speak.. I love having everyone at the same volume instantly with Vent's compressor tool.
I'm curious though, why Teamspeak over Mumble? I thought mumble was much less overhead as far as server requirements and bandwidth? Is it because this is a cloud server hosted by teamspeak instead of a TL member?
|
I'm more of a vent guy but i might have to give this a try at some point now that TL has their own server!
|

Less delay on TS3, I'm also interested in knowing exactly what features ventrilo has that TS3 does not have, i can name at least 20 features off the top of my head that TS3 has that vent doesnt.
Vent is simple outdated and over expensive.

this is pretty cool! I was always more familiar with vent, but maybe team speak is the way of the future.
|
Very cool Will have to hop in and chat about some SC later on. Only thing that would make it better was if it was a mumble server :D
|
|
Sorry, everything works fine. I just missed the "t" letter in adress.
|
Question: How does one connect their TL account to their teamspeak account?
Sorry, new to teamspeak. Use to Ventrilo

TeamSpeak supports ESPORTS; Mumble doesn't.

Fixed I am happy

Bye to TL vent servers I'll miss the good old stuysc LoL days.
|
the website says "Status: Authenticated" but when i use the link to connect i just show up as guest, who can help me?
|
Cool! I didn't get into vent but I'll definetly give this a shot.
|
Great! Nice for the community to be able to have a spawning pool for friendship, and Sc-talk:=)

Ok after extensive testing here's my verdict:
TS3 has about equal sound quality to ventrillo. It seems to have more range and depth to the voice, but also has worse (or more) compression leading to a very very slight auto-tune sound once in a while. Still, it is much better than TS2 and if you're used to someone's voice on vent you will recognize them immediately on TS3 so I'm happy with that.
The second point is normalization is done during the setup of the program for each person's mic. It's still too early to tell if it handles the extreme low and high volume people yet but its better than stock vent at least.
another big bonus that I never knew of is the attached chat rooms that are always on. Easier to use than vent's chat rooms / comments.
So all in all I retract my previous reservations
gg

This made me try TeamSpeak for the first time and I gotta say, I can't believe I didn't try it earlier. Sure looks a lot better than Ventrilo.
|
Thanks very much for setting this up for us! I'm sure it will be put to good use.

I'm really liking this server a lot more than the old Vent channel so far, it makes custom channels much easier to manage.
|
ugh i dont know how to use teamspeak though i only know how to use ventrilo -_-
guess ill just have to learn
|
Really hope you guys don't shut down the Ventrilo server. Ventrilo is an absolutely superior product than the clunky looking TeamSpeak. Regardless, thanks for the addition to the community!
|
|
I already use TS3 but with a local SA server, thinking I should probably stick to that one.
Thanks anyways! Will def be useful when hooking up with TL users.

Yeah same here. The server appears to be down, or at least the DNS record.

DNS seems fine, both servers replying normally for me.

Did you reinstall or otherwise change your TS3 identity since authenticating? Only one identity is permitted to be authenticated. I don't see you online right now so I can't check your status.

Re-install and set the settings folder to your installation folder. TS3 has problems if your user account directory has non-standard characters.
|
can you join a created channel with a bot who doesnt leave so it kinda becomes a permanent chan? that would be awesome
ts3 is really a nice improvement over its preedecessor, i like it quite a lot.
go tam liquid and thanks to teamspeak for this
|
and just when I though you guys can't get any better, BANG! teamspeak server
|
Nice, I hope there won't be abuse like Ddosing , cause my last clan had issues with that. Im excited, nice job TL!

TL.net gets DDoSed every day from regular traffic compared to whatever last clan you had
With the added security due to being tied to individual user names I expect traffic to be significantly less for the new server.
|
I've always used ventrilo, so I was shy to make the switch, but wow, teamspeak ain't bad! (and configuring the server info = CLICK LINK K DONE? neat.) I also like how its linked with our TL accounts.
|
Uhm, is it just me, or is the TS3 server in shambles right now? Everyone has their own channel at the moment, and frankly it looks trashy. It looked fine yesterday(?), I think we need some structure to the channel names and how many there should be, lol.

Please post in the TL Community thread going forward. Server looks fine to me, and if you think it looks too messy, you can always collapse specific sections and hide them.

Very nice and entertaining

I agree, the channel tree is very messy. Is there a way to set all your own expand upon login and save it? Because right now every time I login having to un-expand each channel tree is a pain.
|
My info in the Teamspeak channel is incorrect. It says description, then it has the name of my mates account, I guess some weird log-in bug? Any idea how to fix?

I created an auto-channel create addon, for this very reason. It will join your temp channel if it already exists. If it doesn't, it will create it for you and join.
Download Here
Edit: sorry to double post and bump the wrong thread.
|
What's wrong with the channel right now? o.O People (bots?) keep joining and leaving.
|
I cannot for the life of me get my mic to work with TS it works with everything else. anyone mind helping?
Im using a PSeye cam that works fine with skype, eve in voice chat, and even ventrilo its really frusterating any ideas?
