btw the facebook policy about uploaded videos is much more loose than the rules in youtube. A friend of mine uploads regularly TV shows and movies in parts, so using facebook to watch videos that might get blocked or removed from youtube is a great opportunity

These social media icons and buttons are for the lowest common denominator, and for popularization. I don't think teamliquid would mind if power users blocked these.

I see how from a wider view this is a step in the right direction, however. The popularity of teamliquid is what allows it to sponsor a team, and any esports fan would like to see it grow as big as possible.

Honestly guys there's nothing wrong with facebook, you just can't give in to the culture that it pushes. You don't have to add everyone you meet, or 'like' everything you see.
TL is something worth 'liking'. The more exposure TL can get the better!

The only argument I've seen against this so far is that twitter and facebook users are dumb. That isn't even an argument. It's only a good thing to spread TL and esports.

These social media sites are excellent tools. Some people have formed a prejudice against them because they've seen them misused. There's nothing inherently wrong with these tools and I'm sure TL.net will use them well and everyone will benefit.

The benefits of adding social integration on TL will spread immensely in the long run. Especially for ESports.

Anyone who attempted to follow the GSL qualifiers or Blizzcon SC2 tournament should be able to back this up. Twitter is way more useful for up to the minute news about things like un-broadcasted tournament games than any other form of media. Forum posts get drowned out/are difficult to make from a mobile device and news posts don't get made until the whole story is known, but you can count on the TL twitter account, Artosis, or someone else to make a quick tweet about what's going on.

To clear up some confusion that some of you have, there is no "integration" of facebook at all. All you are seeing is an image that links to the facebook sharing URL. Facebook can't "track" you visiting TL or anything like that. I purposefully avoided using any buttons / links that required loading any javascript that could interact with the page - in fact, the reddit button has more "integration" than facebook since it lets you vote on submissions without leaving TL.
