Mafia is an educated guessing game of epic proportions. At the start of the game each player is randomly assigned a role. The majority of players become members of the town, but a few players will be transformed into the game's secret villains: the mafia. After receiving their roles, the players discuss amongst themselves and work to uncover the deceivers within their ranks. In the day players vote on somebody to lynch, eliminating them from the game. During night the mafia faction selects in secret a member of the town to kill.
The objective of the game is to lynch or kill all mafia members before they outnumber the rest of the town. If the mafia at any time outnumber or equal the townspeople, they win.
The game is typically very active, so the thread may grow large quickly. However, it is essential to read the thread to play the game. This game can involve hours of reading and typically spans 2 weeks. If you do not have the time or patience to read a lot of text, do not play.
New players are always welcome to join. The best way to get acquainted with the game and see whether it's something you may enjoy is by reading through a previous game in this forum.

Posting:
Host Color: The color blue is reserved for the hosts of the game to make our posts easy to notice. Please do not use it.
Questions: The color green is reserved for questions by players for the hosts during pre-game.
Once the game begins, please PM the hosts with any questions.
Smurfs: Smurfs must PM the host because TL doesn't allow multiple accounts otherwise. If the host is unaware of smurfs, you (and/or your smurf) can be banned for having multiple accounts
Editing: Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. This is the one part of the site where it is okay to be double posting, even triple-posting. "Editing" includes indirect editing like linking an image, then editing the image. Editing your profile or signature are allowed, but if you edit them for any game-related reasons (ie, breadcrumbing, sending messages, etc) this will be considered out-of-thread posting and will be punished.
Inappropriate posts and use of the report post link: If you want to post something insulting or inappropriate and know the TL mods would have a problem with it elsewhere, don't post it here. If you do, a host will warn you or modkill you and request that you be banned from future games. The hosts have the final say on what is inappropriate. If you do not like how someone is talking to you, please PM a host before involving the TL moderation staff or using the report post link. If you are unsatisfied with how the situation is resolved, then you can appeal to the TL staff normally.
Ban discussions: Please wait until this game is over to talk about modkills and bans resulting from this game.
Play to win. This means you play your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason without a ban. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.
Out of thread communication:
Players who have not explicitly been given permission to communicate outside the thread are not allowed to do so.
Voting rules:
Voting is done in a separate voting thread that will be posted at the start of the game. Do not PM your vote to the hosts, it will not be counted.
Please vote in the following format: ##Vote Palmar.
No conditional voting.
You may vote for yourself.
This game uses plurality voting, so whoever has the most votes at the end of the day is lynched. There is no minimum number of votes required to lynch someone. If there is a tie for most votes, whoever most recently had more votes than the other is the person who is up for the lynch.
The person who is up for the lynch is whoever has the most votes. Bringing another player up to that number of votes doesn't put him up for the lynch; s/he has to have the most votes.
Voting is mandatory. You may NOT abstain.
Game-specific rules:
Vibes This game is intended to be a fun experience for everyone and will not be as serious as most other Mafia games. Players that disrupt the atmosphere will first be warned, and on a second offense modkilled unless said offense was bad enough to warrant an insta modkill (Example: Robik threatening to punch Rsoul in the vagina). Be fun and have fun.
Modkills:
Modkills will be used at the host's discretion. I don't inform players of pending modkills.
Replacements: If you are unable to continue playing for a legitimate reason please PM the host. If it's still early in the game a replacement will be subbed in if available.
Clues: The role PMs and day/night posts are purely flavor text. There are no clues.
PMs: PMs and out of thread communication are not allowed in this game, unless your role explicitly allows them.
Activity: You are expected to keep up with the thread and participate in discussion. If for some reason you anticipate that you will not be available for a period longer than 48 hours, please notify a host ahead of time. Activity modkills will be handled at the host's discretion.
Time Cycle: This game will follow a 48 hour day/24 hour night cycle. Upon reaching the deadline, the game will be put on hold until the next day or night post is posted. Any votes or night actions timestamped up to and including 9:59 will count; those at or after 10:00 will not.
The deadline for each cycle will be 10:00 PM CEST.
Semi-silent nights: During the night, players are not allowed to post other than MS Paint pictures. Please don't just write words in paint - have fun with it.

This is a semi open setup. What that means is that all possible roles are known, but what roles players get is not known. With X players there will be X town and Y mafia. Mafia will have 1 KP and all players spawn as Vanilla Town or Mafia Goon.
Each day, next to voting for a lynch, players are encouraged to post MS Paint images in the thread. Other players are encouraged to interact with these images as well. The host will select one player based on the following criteria to receive a 'powerup' of sorts: -How well-drawn or funny the image is -How relevant it is to the thread -How much interaction it generated After the lynch and with the night post, the host will announce which player received the powerup, but not what powerup they received. They can not be shot that night. Other than the Vengeful Townie and Mafia abilities, Their ability has to be used that night.
If the player that wins this powerup is Town, they random one of the following: Jailkeeper (You may roleblock and protect one person from KP. If you are roleblocked, you will not be refunded.) Cop (You may choose a player to check their alignment. If you are roleblocked, you will not be refunded.) Vigilante (You may shoot one person. You have only a single shot. If you are roleblocked, you will not be refunded.) Vengeful Townie (Upon dying you have the opportunity to take revenge. You may designate one person to be shot. They will receive KP during the same phase in which you die.)
If the player that wins this powerup is Mafia, they random one of the following: Frame (Once this game, you may target a player. The player will appear as the opposite alignment if checked by the cop. You may target yourself. If you are roleblocked, you will not be refunded.) Mafia Vigilante (You may shoot one person. You have only a single shot. If you are roleblocked, you will not be refunded.) Vengeful Mafia (Upon dying you have the opportunity to take revenge. You may designate one person to be shot. They will receive KP during the same phase in which you die.) Roleblocker (Next cycle, the townie's action will be roleblocked. They will not be notified of this.) FAQ: Plurality lynch. In the case of a tied vote the first player to obtain the most votes is lynched. Mafia kp is carried. Each night the mafia must designate a player to carry each kill. Players may visit multiple people. Mafia can hold their shot. Town may vote for a no lynch. Self voting is allowed. Mafia communications will be held over discord. Any one player cannot win the power-up twice in a row. If you mainly play on phone, there are surprisingly decent MS Paint phone apps you can use.
The roles will be sent via PM just before the start of the game.

I am completely gone for the next 2 weeks, I'll be abroad. At the rate this is filling up I doubt it matters but if it randomly fills in that time you'll have to get someone else on board for me. I should be back around the 26-27th of April.

I could never draw in detail like Jealous. I prefer to bring a concept across efficiently with little effort so I feel similarly.
A MS paint game would benefit from longer cycles. I like the stillness/slow pace of the game so far.

That isn't what I said, I managed to read you once or twice but it's far from a guarantee and it's definitely not easy to do. I have one or two theories about how to read you but I'm not completely sure about them yet. Even if they are valid it's going to take time, you're really good at matching your town play as mafia and that makes it very difficult to tell.
I think they are good tells, snd i think good tells are very hard to fake. For instance i think i am good at reading DP, it just takes time, and i tend to not have time in mafia games as town.. 😞

Don't have a ton of thoughts to be honest. I don't have a very good understanding of Day 1 unfortunately. Not sure what to make of scott31337's omgus, my first thought was that it looks bad but my second thought is that maybe it's more likely to come from town?
Maybe most inclined to lynch Grackaroni at this point, I think he's very capable of more. Well most of my games back in the day I didn't post a whole lot unless i had solid thoughts (Or there was much more information to go to in Day 3+) but I often got mislynched in day 1 for not posting enough. This game I wanted to post thoughts I had or questions I had, or just getting others to talk more to feel them out. And have each post accomplish something (Don't just post to post type thing). You are good Trfel. I just got a little annoyed and I want to give some time for others to contribute.
I feel Oats's questions/posts to me since the vote are 1. Genuine since he's town OR 2. Trying to get me off of him since he's mafia.
And I'm feeling more on #1 from those.

You are more experienced than I am so you should know this - As town you want to be read as town - so getting townread will make you more favorable of someone.

That's simply just untrue. Of course reads on the first pages are not very convincing, i would be surprised if anyone was really confident in a read like 5 pages into the game, especially when game is slow.

Because it's not. He either made the picture pre game or not, that doesnt mean shit. He has no intention to lie about it as any alignment, it would just be stupid. I mean even if he made the picture pre game, he would post it as either alignment anyways, which makes it just as likely to post it as town as as mafia.... I like this post aside from the Vivax read. I agree with the thing on Grack for a bit similar reasons. The reasons he lists for suspecting Trfel are not very convincing and I'm not sure that he believes them himself.
That's simply just untrue. Of course reads on the first pages are not very convincing, i would be surprised if anyone was really confident in a read like 5 pages into the game, especially when game is slow.
I mean, what better reason could someone have for scumreading someone than that Trfel called scott mafia, then backpedaled out of it? Because that's what i read.. If someone calls a post scummy i think they think the post is scummy (which is definition of someone being mafia -- making scummy post(s)).
Furthermore i did definitely not stir up suspicion between Scott/Trfel, i clearly laid out my town read on scott, and i also gave room for Trfel to do what he wants to do, because i was not sure of that read after a couple of questions.
Why was Trfel clearly town at that point? Because his "read" (which wasnt a read at all) on scott was almost the only thing he had done that time?
And then he also drops two scum reads without feeling compelled to follow up on them at all.

Trfel obviously wasn't committing hard to scum reading Scott based off that one post, but then you start accusing Trfel of backtracking on his read and say that it's suspicious of him to have a scum read this early in the game.
Your other point for suspecting Trfel seems odd to me as well. You say that you expect Trfel to have a read on you by now. I think I recall you believing Cake slipped in a past game by giving you too easy of a town read. I don't think that you would view your play as transparent enough for Trfel to be able to read through you at the start of the game.
I'm not saying that either were clear town at the time, but at the moment that seems most likely to me.
I'm pretty sure your most consistent method of scum hunting has just been to press and try to figure out who is genuinely interested in pursuing their scum reads, so I don't feel bad about my reasons to suspect you. Throwing out suspicion without follow-up is basically your number 1 red flag.

Yes, let me try to elaborate into that. The point i made about Trfel not doing the "Trfel thing" is because he does that all the time, he says something that is really smart or at least believeable, and then in the next sentence he doubts himself about that. What pinged me is that he actually had a real clear "read" (on scott) at that point. If Trfels post was: "Scott made a scummy post but i dont actually know if it makes him mafia. ", that would be 100% town Trfel. Now i dont know if backpedaling from the post AFTER the post in itself (if that makes sense?) is scummy for Trfel, but i thought it MIGHT be. because it's not the MO i expect from him.

Trfel had a good read on me last couple of games, actually last game he was basically the only one (not in QT's) to have a clear town read on me, and he was really proud of it in the obs after i died, or at least i got that impression of it.

I think Oats is mafia because he hasn't said anything smart. Now that in itself isnt necessarily scummy, but i dont think he has come up with any reasonable read this D1, hell i dont even know why he thinks scott is mafia. For instance the mafiascum game (while i had not played with Oats in last 10 years or so!!!!) he was pretty clear town just for the comments and follow ups he made. This game no, not at all.

Role analysis is confusing, an answer to raynpelikoneet's question would be very helpful here. My main reason to not lynch Jealous is that he was the first one to vote for Oatsmaster, who flipped mafia. Jealous voted for Oatsmaster at 7p PDT the night before the deadline (1p PDT the next day) (sorry for PDT, that's my time zone so I'm going to use it though). His last post before the deadline is at 9p PDT the day before the deadline. After that, he doesn't post again until almost 6p PDT the next day (five hours after the deadline).
The interesting thing is that the rest of the votes on Oatsmaster come after Jealous left the thread (in other words, Jealous went AFK, and then everyone voted for Oatsmaster). Obviously it looks good for him to vote for Oatsmaster since Oatsmaster was mafia, but I don't think this guarantees that Jealous is town. He could have easily been planning on moving his vote later and then either been away and unable to do so, or, when the wagon on Oatsmaster built up, just left it since he has the first vote and it's a solid bus.
Here's the thing though, the only real reason I have to think Jealous is mafia is because there was only one night kill, and Jealous claims to have shot Grackaroni. Pending the answer to raynpelikoneet's question, this just doesn't make a ton of sense to me if Jealous is town, because then I don't really know what mafia is doing. That leaves Chezinu. He votes for Oats at 14:24 EDT. Only posts in the voting thread. His next message is a copy and paste of Jealous's case 14 minutes later. I may suspect Chezinu knows Oats is toast and tries to look his best. So I'm voting for him.

Palmar 100% never shoots Grackaroni there as mafia, but all of those other options are more likely than that mafia shot Grackaroni anyways.
The only people Oats tried to accuse for real, were Jealous and scott. So here's to decide:

A more elaborated version of Scott's but also sufficiently different so as to not make me think that Trfel just copied Scott's homework, also seemingly written in ignorance of him having posted it. I believe it, so I'm referring to Trfel pointing out Chezinu and you pointing out Palmar. Feels that way at the moment, for sure. I am more inclined to believe one of Chezinu/Palmar is scum than you/Trfel at the moment. This is absolutely awesome but unfortunately also puts us in a difficult position as town... Palmar is probably going to get the special role based on this MS Paint, and he is one of the most-suspected people right now, so if he is in fact scum it would be pretty fucking bad for town.
On the other hand, he was the 3rd vote on Oats and it stuck, I'm finding it hard to believe that he would bus that early. Chezinu appears later on the list when the writing is basically already on the wall. I think it's more likely that Chezinu bussed than Palmar, objectively speaking. So, I think the best way to resolve this would be to vote Chezinu and wait to see what Palmar does with the role if he does get it. Should help resolve the situation a little more.
The Palmar art is - well. Amazing. If a townie could do better, that’d be great! I read rayn’s case but I’m not sold on it. Then later calls it a shit case. If Chezinu does not provide anything useful my vote is staying.

Sorry I really don't feel like answering this, I think I laid it out pretty clearly since I was posting as I was thinking about it. If you have any more specific questions let me know, but it should be pretty self explanatory.
Idk I hate to provide excuses but I'm trying to get off of my antidepressants and I feel sick and super dizzy constantly and it's really messing with my sleep schedule. So I may be active sporadically until I adjust better. Will do my best. I do think lynching Palmar seems reasonable here.

rayn has spent the entire game undermining town efforts.
1. He attacked a pretty NAI scott vs Trfel thing in the beginning. No idea why I even cared about this. 2. Then he attacked me for just calling Trfel town 3. Then he parroted Vivax and Me on Oatsposting (did you roll mafia again?) 4. But he didn't actually vote for Oats or do anything with it for a while kinda semi-talked to him and then kinda joined the wagon.
5. rayn says no way I shoot grack. 6. then makes a case on me. that is just astronomically terrible.
His entire case is literally just a complaint that I voted for the mafia instead of the townie when his stupid brain thinks that he can interpret my (very few) words into thoughts that should have made me vote the townie instead of the mafia.
Like seriously, go read it, the case boils down to "Based on what Palmar said, I think he's scummy for voting mafia over town".
Oh and he added another point against me is that he found it unfair I had a townread on Vivax when his almighty rayn thinks it's impossible for me to have one because apparently he knows how I think.

2) Jealous
Jealous spent way too much time arguing about the stupid paintings, and I feel like he did very little else throughout the game. Maybe it's just a result of his kind of stupid post restriction of trying to use only mspaint, which is dumb and anti-town, but doesn't necessarily make him mafia.
Problem is, he did vote Oats early and stuck with it. And he voted for the correct reason. Oats was indeed focusing on stupid shit that wasn't going to lead anywhere.
Actually, as I write this I might move my vote back from Jealous. and maybe he isn't mafia. I'm just retarded and got annoyed looking at his filter.
Problem with the rayn thing is that he actually genuinely thinks this way.
1) he constructs a model of "expected behavior", which is usually wildly wrong 2) he then compares his model with "actual behavior" 3) finding the discrepancy he goes and attacks it
He does this as either alignment which is why it's hard to deal with. Last 2 games he has, both as mafia and town, tried to go after me because he doesn't believe that his model of me is wrong. It's literally just the same thing again. He thinks that I should have thought that Grack was more likely to flip mafia, and is having a tantrum because I voted Oats. He has no idea how or why I reach my conclusions and explaining doesn't help, hence, stonewalling.
Remember how insane this is, he's mad that I didn't vote town because his incorrect model predicts I should have.
No Jealous needs to be on the table but it's so damn confusing.
But if we lose this game it's Vivax' fault for costing us a mislynch.
Basically the only scenarios where Jealous isn't just mafia based on role interactions are the following:
1) Mafia held or forgot to shoot. This is very, very unlikely. If mafia is checked out, just resign. Also everyone seems to be playing. Maybe they held it to confuse us?
2) Mafia shot Grack. This is possible, but pretty very few scum candidates would've been interested in shooting Grack, knowing he was probably going to be tunneled.
The simplest solution is just that Jealous is mafia and shot Grack, and got whatever other random powerup. I honestly don't understand the point on some powerups, wtf is a roleblocker going to do when it's the only role in the game?

Let's think this out - I know rayn covered it slightly - the NL idea We have six people We no lynch - there's a shot - we have five (and another townie gone) - (one mislynch) - shot - three people LYLO (gives two chances for town) Six - we mislynch - shot - there's four (one mislynch) shot - then there's two and it's GG - still gives two chances for town)
We still only get two chances. Does one have better odds? That part I do not know the numbers.
Honestly I've got no clue. Part of me thinks maybe it's better to no lynch now to improve our odds of lynching mafia sooner rather than later, but most of me thinks we might as well wait, since night actions can alter the numbers.

Since nights are "silent" of information and I suspect being shot tonight, I'm laying out my thoughts. If I'm still around and Jealous gets shot - we'll keep hunting scum. If we're both around, well, reread time!
Jealous - he's 90%+ confirmed town to me. There's a possibilty of the master mafia vig plan - but I just don't think this happened. If/when D3/D4 comes and he's still around, maybe give it another thought. He voted Oats #1
raynpelikoneet - He looks like he's attempting to solve the game and find the last mafia. He's a very good player, so this could be a ruse. But that's what I'm feeling.
Trfel - Trfel's D2 has been pretty meh - but I liked his D1. He was second on the Oats wagon. If this game continues, I would reread him D3.
Palmar - I think he's getting the power role tonight. Since a power role was given to Jealous - any cop check should not be 100% but valued. rayn/Palmar feels OMGUS.
Do not be afraid to no lynch tomorrow if we continue on. It might be the best suggestion and bring it to 3 peeps.
