i don't think rayn asking questions is misguided when he is town. like of course it makes sense to ask questions to figure out someone's alignment. but the reason i say lawyering is because a real technique lawyers use is to question witnesses rapidfire in the hopes they say something stupid so they can slam them for it. and rayn's questioning of skynx seemed like that to me, like it had a high chance of creating a slip that wasn't there. however if skynx is scum (which i don't think is true but always worth it to consider the possibility) rayn is 99% town.
