So, basically to explain what happened to people who read this game in the future. The Facts: This game was in 3-player LYLO with 1 scum includes Rels, raynpelikoneet, and DarthPunk (Scum). DarthPunk and Rels crossvoted, and raynpelikoneet had to figure out who was scum. He initially voted Rels, and there was some discussion, but Rels was having trouble convincing Rayn of anything. This was frustrating for Rels. Then he made this post at rayn: On December 19 2015 00:56 Rels wrote: Actually if you're scum I town!concede. DP can you do the same ? So we don't have to waste even more time doing shit that have no purpose. Rayn reacted to this by saying that DarthPunk was therefore obviously scum, because Rels acting like this was the kind of meta, emotional, out-of-game appeal that only town would do. DarthPunk tried to play it cool and claim he was still town, of course. The situation made rayn really really mad. He thought this ruined the game, and he had put a lot of effort into assembling a player list who wouldn't resort to such underhanded tactics as "meta things people only ever do as town" in a desperate effort to win. Rayn said the game was over and ruined. DarthPunk said "let's call it a draw". Rayn decided DP deserved the victory. ----- My Opinion as a co-host: To be clear, this game, and all games, should and do contain NO MECHANIC for town to concede. The only reason I went along the concession this time with it is that DP admitted he was scum, offered the draw, and people came out of the obs QT and talked in thread. This game was definitely over. By the rules I would run as host, or in my opinion, any reasonable person would run as host, "I hereby concede if I'm town and all the other townies write this" means NOTHING. The only side that can concede is scum, because they can do so in the scum QT without this weird shit happening. Rayn notes that players don't do the kind of thing Rels does when they're scum, and for the most part, he's right. Most players, when town, are willing to play dirty (but within the rules) to win, by saying things like "I ##Town!Concede alongside DP to you, rayn" as town but never as scum. Personally, I'm not like that. In fact, I'm notorious for my willingness to cross every boundary to win as scum, when most people only do that as town. I think everyone should be like me. rayn probably thinks the same thing; it would avoid this kind of problem, since then this stuff would never be alignment indicative. Rels thinks he's like me, and rayn read him as town for the wrong reasons. Rels things he'd do this as scum. I'd like to think most people are willing to do this. Rayn, I'd like to have seen you play this game out, I know you put a lot of effort into organizing it and don't like the stunt Rels pulled. If he'd pulled it as scum, though... well, I guess what I'm saying is, you didn't account for the fact Rels could have pulled this as scum. Which was correct, but still. In any case, Rels, what you did here wasn't in bad taste if you're willing to do it as scum. If it's something you'd only do as town, well, that's fairly lame. Rayn, I wouldn't have ended the game here in your position. I think DarthPunk could have still gotten a lynch on you in conjunction with Rels, and denying him the opportunity to show of his skills in such a way is disappointing. DarthPunk, you were good. I'll add a thing to my OPs saying town can't concede, just to be clear so there's no misunderstanding in the future. And to be clear, I would always use something like this as scum, rayn. I may be alone in that, but I hope someday other scum players learn to be ruthless. | ||
