LM's playtimes are so spotty that it's best to just say whatever you want to say now.

Why would he claim veteran there? It's not like it was close to deadline, I hadn't claimed gunsmith at that point so it wasn't to try and figure out the balancing of the setup, and he was actually in the thread talking at the time.
He claims it was because of the cop stuff but nobody other than damdred was really convinced of a cop existing. Seems like he was trying to, as you said, root out the rest of the blue roles to confirm if there is a cop.
The way I was reading the thread at the time (with a phone in one hand and a bong in the other) I thought someone hard claimed cop and LM was trying to dispute it by claiming vet. I was saving claiming for later but at the time I kinda thought I had a confirmed scum in LM.
My main point here is that claiming vet as town in that situation is quite possibly the worst thing to do. Cop has not claimed so you're not really determining balance and you've effectively neutered your role since RB defeats the vest. No, it seems almost exactly like a scum who's under pressure in thread and wants to save himself for a day, since scum isn't in a terrible spot if they land another ML before we hit scum.

I just don't see playing veteran the way LM has at all, let alone claiming when he did. His claim is literally just to get votes off himself, it provides town with nothing, AND outed out other blue role (me)

Well here's the thing: do you expect someone lurky like LM to just sit there and afk with votes on him until the last possible second?
If LM can't keep his activity up, what exactly would you have him do alternatively? Strong town game is interpreted differently by different people.

Yeah, that's kind of my issue. LM is naturally a hard read because of his lurkiness so I can totally see him making a suboptimal claim just to get votes off of him.
If we don't lynch him, who's next on the list?

I'm really tempted to just flip gd and do some wagon analysis.
I know SL was on him but the temptation to have that information is kinda strong.

Because he had a scumread on you and activily pushed his case of you being Mafia and never gave up on it till sicklucker claimed Mafia. Rarely do Mafia heavily push thier cases of people being mafia as hard as Geript and Damdred did this game.
