So, some thoughts on the setup I thought I'd share: This game was a 9-player setup with 2 scum. Traditionally in games like this, town has 1 blues and scum has an RB. Giving scum no PRs is acceptable if you give town like 1 PR. If you want to give scum both a cop and a doctor, the cop and doc need to be nerfed someway (I usually make docs non-conseq and cops no n1 check) in order to give scum a chance to win. In this situation, I went with a setup like this:
5x vt 1x cop (no n1 check, knows he is sane) 1x BoxeR
1x scum goon 1x scum RB
The RB is in there instead of a gf to give scum a bit more room to play around. the gf is a fine role, but the RB imo rerwards more innovative play. You'll notice the scumteam this game held the RB N1 and claimed it themselves, getting a little towncred in the process, but exposing themselves to parity cop checks or the possibility of their target being a vet, or being targetted by a medic. A risk, but one that worked out well.
The Cop got RBed N2. Honestly, this is fairly likely after 2 mislynches-- town is down to 4 people, one of whom is getting roleblocked and one of whom is getting shot. There's a 50% chance that your cop does nothing or dies N2 if you mislynch twice, and there's not much to do about that. A role like Veteran gets stronger as the game goes on since he's more likely to be shot. A cop get stronger, but only if he doesn't get shot.
Cav probably made an okay decision claiming named VT. In his place, I'd have claimed blue without claiming specific roles, and urged others to do the same. He didn't want to paint a target on his back, which is fine, but it slightly misled the town. It didn't lose the game for town (I'll get to that shortly) but it made things tougher.
Scum played this game pretty expertly right up untily LYLO. I think they choked pretty hard at LYLO even though things turned out ok. The early double vote on mderg potentially gave him the information he needed to convince the other two townies. Since it's known there's one scum in each group of claimes (blue, green) it could be sensible that the two quick voters are scum, since one of them is in each group. mderg 100% knows at this point that cav and poof are town, all he needs to do is talk to them directly.
That being said, hf and koshi did a good job of killing the people who might have been able to talk their way out of this situation, and mderg was a bit slow-moving and thus the perfect target for this voting. IF I were them, I'd have waited for a townie to vote, then quickhammered. I can't fault their results, but they gave mderg a lot of info in the process. Very dangeorus to do that.
It's also worth noting that poof had access to unique info here. Poof KNOWS that Koshi is scum since Koshi is the other VT claim. When he sees Koshi voting mderg he needs to think carefully to himself whether mderg is REALLY scum and Koshi is really bussing him. Of the three townies, Poof has the second most info. He knows the identity of one, but not two scums.
The least informed townie in all this is Cav. However, Cav has a piece of info nobody else has: he knows he's the cop. He sees a doctor and a named VT claim, so he should probably be more suspicious of the doctor claim, especially since the doctor claim votes the named VT claim and not, say, into the VTs. It could be a doc + cop setup, so Cav can't really know.
In the end, I expected more out of Poof, who should have known koshi was scum, and mderg, who knew the scumteam. It falls on all three townies to vote together in 3-2 lylo, and 3-2 lylo is one of the hardest situations to be in. Scum had already won most of the way by arriving there, but town still had a chance.

Yeah, you roleblocked him N2 so he had no checks. He fakeclaimed BoxeR.

Steveling was the only one to have a vote on me and on Holyflare btw. The only one to vote scum this game.

Hey, BH said my play was kinda good.
That's good enough for me, yo. Everything is now peachy-keen.

Meh. Cav you should have fucked HF bro. Cop/Doc/Named VT is too sick.

I know. After I looked at the info I had near me, I was kinda thrown off my mderg saying silly shit and me townreading HF almost all game.
Also, would claiming blue be an acceptable move in this situation? Mderg already claimed named VT, so I don't know how I could have worked that without claiming named VT as well.
Though I probably had an opportunity earlier, and just didn't seize it...

Actually, I don't think lynching in blues would have been the optimal play there at all.
If I left them alone and I checked one of them, then I hiplynch the other if I get a green check. I was untouchable when HF claimed medic, I just didn't capitalize on it. Because I am bad.

I think I worried about the RB too much and valued the check over analysis. That was bad.
|
And I said so many times that cop was able to check D1 and you didn't correct me.
THAT'S SO BM Cav.

7 vs 2 is really hard for scum though. Especially with a cop and with RB and with IML.
Fuck I had to talk bullshit a lot.

Holyflare totes boss. dat filter.

If I was town I would have lynched his ass though.
