I don't see the contradiction. There is no reason for any townie to do various strange things, yet they do it all the time and we even clear the for it. (it: this is so dumb he has to be town).

I like that Palmar sees the same thing I do in this. Liking Palmar in general since the start as he's making sense and doesn't appear to be pushing a scum agenda.
