We don't ban people for performance. There were activity guidelines in the OP that said "1 post and 1 vote per cycle". I believe Oats met these except he forgot to vote in the voting thread on the last day (there is, as far as I can tell, a vote in the main thread).
So a warning or at most a 1 game ban would be my recommendation. I can't remember if Oats has a history of activity issues (I think he may?) in that case he maybe needs a 1 game ban. Normally I think this is just a warning though, as he did meet all the activity requirements in the game.

I think that setting a precedent of excluding people from games is fucking dumb and should only be done in dire circumstances. Newer players that fuck up once or twice should be given leniency and should be provided a mentor to help them past these issues. Otherwise, you effectively drive away a player base. You can say that "we don't want those people anyway," but that's a stupid way to live.

Marv is right. Mafia is NOT the same as posting anywhere else in this forum and it shouldn't be treated as such. It is a game in which breaking people down using any means is a fundamental part of playing as both alignments.
I don't agree with what GMarsh is saying and I don't like the fact that this is brought up every few months when I don't believe a problem actually exists.

Redundant. You should know by now how BH and Kita work with the Student/Newbie games. We had a significant number of warnings in Student V, but we stressed that our warnings were not meant to punish but rather to learn going forward, and the person who was modkilled for an honest mistake, same thing.

If RL gets in the way, there is a remedy for that. It's called replacing out. And knowing when to do that is key so as not to compromise the game for others. As for behaviour, other players can find someone's behaviour problematic. If there's no moderation, that also hurts the player base.

TL mafia is what... 5 years old now? We've always erred on the side of caution when it comes to being politically correct and been fairly liberal with banning people.
It's not hard to not get banned. I've never been banned I think, and I'm in no way some kinda saint who doesn't lose his temper occasionally.
The bans are generally short, the forums are very active and most people seem to just sitout as they must and then rejoin the fun. We also have a strikes system in terms of ban length, and in most cases people who have no history of problems, activity or behavior, tend to get some leniency.

I agree with some of this, mafia does get heated.
But honestly, I just read through what you posted in that game and it was well beyond "heated". I've in the past argued against overly restrictive rules about language and emotional play, but bro...

I think a standard behavior ban is applicable here. If you've not been banned before, that'd be 1 game according to the 2n-1 formula.

Like listen, I said that I'm going to go watch HF's mom have sex with a goat instead of the Superbowl. OBVIOUSLY, I'm not going to go do that. So like, me saying that should be taken as null at best and just a show of frustration. As for me calling out other people for not thinking, well, they weren't thinking. Everyone else should be embarrassed that insults are flying around in backhanded ways, but someone who has balls to actually say what they are thinking is reprimanded. What type of just society are we living in? What type of ideals are we REALLY trying to promote?

I can honestly say that each and every time I've been banned, it's been my fault. Each and every time was wholly avoidable on my part. I get the general backlash there's been against banning. But 99% of the bans here are fully warranted and usually less than the person deserves.

I just don't get why you are fighting a one game ban so hard when the amount of rage and spam that happened really should get banned one game for. Besides that a history of this makes people be more against showing you leniency. If you didn't have such a historically bad response to things I think you might be able to get off on a warning.
I'm not sure why you would drag people like ows and gb through the mud like this when they don't shit up a game and react as badly sometimes obi does go inactive but generally they are ok to play with sometimes really fun. You chose not to play the game because you couldn't for x amount of hours obviously you fake claimed a blue so you could skirt by, just take the ban rob and calm down.
