Because unless Rad and Oats did some ridiculously big play where they announce they are both mafia, there is almost always two different kind of players - the loud, outspoken mafia and the one that hangs more in the shadows.

Since Oats was mafia - Rad has a much higher chance of not being mafia and was just being played by Oats.

I have also already explained multiple times how yamato has been acting suspicious up to this point, as well as points made by looking at what oats says regarding how he treats yamato compared to the others.

Axle, please just leave your question for me and I'll respond. I, again, have to work all day, pretty much up until close to the lynch time. If you just leave me your question I'll get back to it as soon as I can, and I promise I'll answer it well before deadline, but you can't expect us both to be on at the same time to have some sort of 1 on 1 back and forth. It's just not going to happen because of my availability (or lack there of) during my work day.

I don't think you have made a very good case for me being scum aside from just posting a bunch of stuff Oats said which is little justification for a vote on me. You can say my actions today look suspicious but I have explained myself explicitly. If you don't believe me then that is my fault I guess but it doesn't matter.

It took me a while but I answered my questions for myself. The most recent problem was post where you seemed to know who would get nk'd. I think I understand what you were thinking when you said that now.

So no I now cant see myself voting for anyone except Yam.

End of Day 4

Figure 8. Guys, I think we caught Jesus.

"Gentlemen."

Rad spoke in a clear voice, cutting through the icy silence of the room. You would think that a room full of the four mightiest men of Legoville would be full of conversation, but tonight it wasn't. Probably because the room was five short of it's usual occupancy.

"Gentlemen, I think what we have to do tonight is clear." Soft dramatic pause. "We have to execute yamato77 for the crimes he's committed against the citizens of Legoville."

Yamato77 jumped to his feet. "Are you insane!?! What have I done?"

"Well, you convinced the police of Arnarnion's guilt. Too bad we found out too late that he was blameless! And you still haven't told us where you were two nights ago! I believe you are the murderer!"

"These are groundless accusations!"

Rad sneared. "Tell that to the judge."

Just then, the police barged through the door.

yamato77, the vanilla townie was lynched by the town!

With no blue roles left, the mafia kill off one person tonight, leaving the town 1-1, which results in a scum victory!

Good game everyone! Thanks for playing!

A special shoutout to DarthPunk, for being an excellent cohost, and Promethelax, for doing most of the work. Both of you guys were terrific. Huge thanks to both of you.

Roles:

Mr. Cheesecake: Doctor
jidolboy: Named VT
Sylencia: VT
Kickstart: VT
Arnarnion: VT
AxleGreaser: VT
Yamato77: VT

Rad: Goon
Oatsmaster: Goon

Game Breakdown

Honestly, I haven't spent a lot of time analyzing this game. (Finals were trying their best to kill me. They failed!) More or less, what I gathered is this: Town lynches scum Day 1, then ignores Day 1 for the rest of the game.

NEVER DO THIS.

The rest of the game really should have been spent analyzing Day 1. Scum lynches tell you a stupid amount of information right off the bat. Who suggested it? Who pushed it? Who jumped on the bandwagon, then jumped right off? There's a lot of information that should be gleamed from such an event. Never mind the fact that there's only two scum in this game. Scum can't afford to bandwagon their scummate Day 1. You guys pretty much had four confirmed town right off the bat. If you had spent the next three days lynching everyone who didn't vote Oats Day 1, town would have won.

And that's it for my soapbox. I'll let everyone else chime in from here.

Day One: xxxii

It was the best of games, it was the worst of games. Newbies of NMM XXXII, I salute you for making the most entertaining day one I have read in, quite possibly, forever.

Some of you, it seems, have missed the point of policy lynches. The two most commonly enacted are LAL and LAL (lynch all Liars and Lurkers respectively) these do not exist as a fall back in case you do not have a scum read but instead to force every to tell the truth and not to lurk. Kickstart said it best, though I don't think that he realized it at the time, “Point is enacting a lurker lynch is silly because if everyone says "Ok we will lynch lurkers" then why would mafia lurk? Trick question - they wouldn't.” -Kickstart which is, in fact, the whole goddamn point. So yeah, this is an important thing for you all to understand, the purpose of policy lynching is to force through a policy, not to have an easy to decide lynch.

Reading day one of this town was hard; Kick and Yam, as town you will both benefit greatly by not being such so overly aggressive withut a real purpose. Oats, as scum you took the easy way out and followed in Kick's footsteps from last game. Emotional and angry does not benefit your team. It never has and it never will. All three of you (and anyone else thinking about employing this strategy in the future) would do well to abandon it. Being angry is a part of the game but being so mad all the time that no one listens to you will, invariably, lead to nothing good for you. Angry players will be ignored and often lynched; sometimes it is best to take a break and calm yourself before posting. The joys of this game being forum based are that you can do just that. Axle of course was incomprehensible to almost everyone, there isn't much you can do with such a player and policy lynching him isn't a terrible idea as taking him with you to lylo is not a safe option for town, however such a policy lynch is an easy one for scum to hide in so be careful about enacting it d1 and, if you do decide to policy lynch d1 try to make sure that some discussion has occurred first so that the whole day is not a coin flip.

A break down of how things went: the scum play from the get go was quite poor. I expected much better from both of you as I think, in general you are quite decent players, and it was your mistakes, much more than town successes which lead to the successful day one lynch. Oats' case on Kickstart was such trash that everyone should have been all over him and I think, had half the town not been afk, that everyone would have been. The reasons the case were bad are very simple: there was no case. When someone makes a case and keeps at it you should be able to discern their reasons for believing that their target is scum and, in this case, it was totally impossible. Oats's attacked Kick for a contradiction that didn't exist and, like a bulldog, never let go until he died. Town should have been all over Oats and, because of their intense relationship, Rad from about 12 hours into day 1. No townie has even formed such a buddy relationship that fast except for a mason pair, which could not be present in this set up. Sometimes the 'too obvious to be scum' is obvious because he is scum; ruling out play as impossible for scum destroys the paranoia which is an integral part of being a townie.

Now, if you were not on Oats immediately I can forgive you. The scum team was helped by some anti town play in the early game. Jidol and Sylencia did a good job not saying anything while Axle said way too much. Arnarnion was clearly confounded through all of day one and hurt his own town cred by not posting enough to figure out what was going on. Kick and Yam were too angry and Cheese finally got his shit together enough to figure out who the scum were. This town, very weirdly, managed to both spam and lurk simultaneously. Half of you over posted and the other half underposted, all of you need to try to think about what you are going to say: if it adds worth to the thread post it and if there is nothing to be gained from it leave it be; the thread doesn't need to know everything that your brain shits out. Having more posts in the thread does not make you more townie and having less does not make you more scummy. It is the content of your posts on which you both should judge and be judged not how much time you spend on mafia.

Now, at the end of d1 we had the most excellent fake claim. Tommy the mother-fucking fireman. This should be a lesson to you all: read the OP. That role was bogus and should have had you all voting this guy as soon as he claimed. Jidol especially dropped the ball here, as the actual named vt he knew that flavour was wrong and should have immediately pushed for the Oats lynch with all his might, I am also hesitant to bring up the fact that he came into the thread to say “Hi” two minutes before lynch. That post serves no purpose and that it was there instead of the 'lolol nice scum claim diediedie' post which Jidol should have posted is unfortunate. It was a sad moment as a host to see all of my players miss this obvious scum slip and seriously consider not voting the scum for this claim. Additionally: in a close lynch, where Arnarnion could have lurked away and not switched votes, his Hammer on Oats put him pretty far in the town column with Axle, CC and Kick. D2 should be a choice between Rad and Yamato and, based on association alone should have gone Radwards with little thought.

For your own elucidation I provide a read aloud of one of Axle's many incredible posts, this one done by our very own JSL.

I'm sure it wasn't the only one because I also did a dramatic reading of this post to my young lady who, though she knows nothing of mafia, enjoyed herself immensely.

That was the only analysis post I finished. Day two depressed me a lot.

Yamato: last day you had a scum read on Rad and decided not to push it. Blaming your loss here on anyone but yourself is unfair to them and to you. You had the chance to be the hero for town and decided to essentially rage quit instead, that is just as bad as lurking.

Guys I flamed probably every single one of you in the Obs QT. Except for Cheesecake. Cheese is fucking sexy.
Other people flamed too.

What I'm trying to say, if you be of the faint of heart, be well prepared.

Rad was also super-duper obvious. The cycle that started in XXIX went full.
