Would love to join. First game for me, but I did read through an entire 57 page Mafia thread last week, and it seemed to be insane fun.

"Time Cycle: This game will follow a 48 hour day cycle. In case I am not able to post around deadline, any votes after the 48 hour mark will not count and the game will be put on halt until the night post is up. Currently the deadline is 18:00 CEST (+02:00) but that is subject to change." -Does this mean that there is 48 hours of daytime followed by 48 hours of nighttime, or 48d/24n or something else? -The coach role, are we noobies allowed to PM beforehand and ask questions along the lines of "what is the strategic value for town/mafia/Vigilante of doing X", or even further to say "I am X and I am thinking about doing Y, is this a decent move or am i shooting myself in the foot?". Making decisions that retroactively will seem stupid will be entertaining thou ![]() -Are we allowed to edit our posts in this thread up to a certain point in time? -What is the "no edits/PM´s" trigger? The start of the role sendouts, when 40 people are signed up or what? -Can we please have the voting deadline at a time that is acceptable/decent for Europe as well as America? May i humbly suggest something along the lines of: Location Local time Time zone UTC offset San Francisco (U.S.A. - California) 09:00:00 PDT UTC-7 hours Stockholm (Sweden) 18:00:00 CEST UTC+2 hours Corresponding UTC (GMT) 16:00:00 (From http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html) Or: San Francisco (U.S.A. - California) 23:30:00 PDT UTC-7 hours Stockholm (Sweden) 08:30:00 CEST UTC+2 hours Corresponding UTC (GMT) 06:30:00 ...which would work for Netherlands/Germany/Sweden as well as the Americans, which seems to be most of us. What do you spaniards/Australians think?

Usually no edits rule starts when the moderator posts the "Day 1" introduction posts. Before that all is fair game.

The one i refer to is the one where Bill Murray was draft no.1, and as soon as the voting was finished + Show Spoiler + the day vigi used his ability to kill before he was lynched. I do not want to be voted for lynch at 3:am, hanged at 4:am and miss the possibility to Day Vigi or use up my "one use only" invention; or if my German/Dutch friend wakes up and misses the opportunity to Pardon me. Such things will definitely be make-or-break for the lynchees team late game I believe. Was about to ask "is there a source for abbreviations in TL Mafia?" and some other things, but i realized that i should use the search function and study the stickies at http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/index.php?show_part=31 before I try to move that basic information gathering workload on someone else ![]() EDIT: Here it is: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=120729¤tpage=40 Also; this was the game that inspired me to join and I recommend it to other noobs for educational purposes and everybody for the exciting story. Modkills seems to be huge bummer thou, but apart from that it was entertaining. Also Bill Murray got his Mafia ban in this game when he posted after he died. When I read his post at first I did not react that his post might be useful "game relevant" information at all, but I guess that the thing to do is to just post GG GL HF when getting killed. EDIT2: removed possible spoilers for people that want to read that mafia game. Sorry for that. Also: There seemed to be a lot of drama and discussions the hours before the deadline, and "if (s)he shows up before that" seemed to be a very important factor, not the least in situations where the votes are split and someone that voted early would have the option to change the vote to reach the lynch threshold.

Also, pardoners will not be making an appearance in this game, nor will Day Vigilantes. Ace is right, 48 hour days, 24 hour nights. I'd say that PMing stops when we send out roles, and editing stops when the game officially begins. You can pm the coaches with any questions that you might have. They won't play the game for you, but they'll give you what advice they can. What's the teamliquid time of the day/night switch that you're suggesting?

As Varpulis said, they wont play the game for you however they will give you as much advice as they can. The scenario you offered would be an excellent format for asking questions. -Are we allowed to edit our posts in this thread up to a certain point in time? No editing what so ever once the game starts -What is the "no edits/PM´s" trigger? The start of the role sendouts, when 40 people are signed up or what? I'd like if no one PM'd each other period once they've signed up, believe it or not friendly PMing before a game can get you killed (happened to me). Absolutely no PMs once roles have been sent out. No editing after the first official game post. -Can we please have the voting deadline at a time that is acceptable/decent for Europe as well as America? Also, how can this kind person be used as a resource to improve us as players? Your earlier example was an excellent question to ask a coach, you may not ask the coach if they think someone is scum but you may ask whether your arguments are sound or your logic is coherent. The coach can help with this because they've played before and know what is good logic and good arguments are. As for restrictions I'd just say ask anything and everything you want, I trust my coaches to know what is okay to answer and what is innapropriate. There are no pardoners or day vigis in this game so that's not an issue. Lynches are not instantaneous, you should have more than enough time to fight a lynch against you. The lynch ends at the end of the day so you'll have 48 hours to fight a lynch. I may or may not have answered your questions ![]()

My expectations of this game is to improve my skills in analytical thinking. I believe that I will mostly want to make my own mistakes and self-reflect during the game rather than using a coach as a crutch, but if anyone of the oldschoolers could help me identify the mistakes I made during the game afterwards it would be greatly appreciated. I might be looking too far ahead thou, jinxing myself for a first-day lynch ![]() The paranoia for messing up and thereby worsening the situation for my team will be horrible thou. You can get hanged for that you know...
