redtooth, my issue was less with the possibility that you were smurfing, and more with the contradiction between this post where you claim to have been gone from the mafia forum for a year:

I've been gone from mafia forum for over a year now. If they're recent, I definitely didn't play in them. If they're not, I simply don't remember. The only smurf game I played was the invite-only one waaay back where I got policy-lynched for inactivity since I didn't realize the game had started (I still maintain that it was the host's fault for not alerting me on my main acc haha).

and these posts, where you post in the mafia forum as recently as 2 months ago:

Today however, my vote is going on Beneather based on 2 quotes.

People insisting that we vote off inactives just seems suspicious to me.

Scum aren't a threat????
I know where my vote is going.

Mafia slip :o Even if they do not participate in the discussion they still kill two of us. If they're inactive that means that they're lurking and don't want to get in to arguments to put suspicion on them so they do not get lynched. Pressuring inactives will make them active and find out if they're actually scum.

The dude was seriously pumped before the game and even said he'd be extremely active. Once he got his role he became a total lurker. As pointed out by someone else, most of his posts talks about lurkers and inactives yet he does not consider himself being one! Extremely suspicious to me. Seems to me he does not know what to do after getting the scum role and just pretends to be away.

On the second quote, notice how Cthsazsa raised a lot of suspicions as being scum. If we look at it this way, Beneather and Cthsazsa being on the same scum team, Beneather calling Cthsazsa on the mafia slip was like a little reminder from a person on your team. "Hey you slipped better watch what you say next time!" And then who does he decide to vote on at the end of the day? Kurumi! The easiest wagon to go on. If he thought Cthsazsa was scum, why didn't he decide to vote him?

##Vote: Beneather

This is the only hard evidence I've seen so far. I'm voting beneather for now unless he says something to change my mind.

No, posting less allows you to lurk with the 10 others that have only a handful of posts, including the guy you just voted against, Beneather. Posting more allows us to have a better idea of where you stand and will eventually result in scum slips if you are red.

Then why did I stick out to you?

I can honestly say I didn't expect Irish to flip red, but I guess I got an opinion in my head and stuck with it. Sucks that both (I'm assuming there are two, seems overpowered to me otherwise) day vigis were modkilled, but it helps that we got two scum.
I can't promise to be any more active from now on than I have been already, but I will try to pop in to do some analysis whenever I get the chance.

As for chaoser being roleblocked/medic protected - what is to stop scum from blocking him every night and hitting other targets, and being sure of medic-free kills every night? They can stop a DT check and get 2 kills every single night.

I would like to propose a ridiculous theory, please tell me if it's possible and/or complete garbage.
chaoser is scum. He knows the roles of his scumbuddies, and decides to announce DT and that he checked Amber last night, seeing that there was already a good number of votes for that player. Further, he gets his scum team to switch votes from Cthsazsa to Amber, and then declares that there must be a good number of scum hiding in the Cthsazsa votes. Even better, he is guaranteed that medics will waste themselves on protecting him every night, and he can claim roleblock and not be worried about not providing results for further days, and he can also rest comfortably knowing that if someone tries to accuse him of being scum, he can turn it on them and blame them for trying to accuse a DT.

This is something of a ridiculous conspiracy theory feel to it to me, but I felt it should be put out there anyway.

That's garbage because if chaoser isn't DT, and claimed it, then the real DT instantly knows he is scum.

Irish seems like he's claiming to be a pretty experienced player, what with him linking to a Mafia group outside TL that he is a member of.

I'm not sure how you interpreted my post as a defence of Irish. Orgolove posited that irish might be a new player, hence his overreaction to chaoser's early poke, which I responded to by mentioning his previous experience playing forum mafia. Seems to me that would make the evidence against Irish more incriminating, not less.

Well, to be fair, Csthazsa was being quite belligerent. If you read those posts in their context, it's easy to see where they came from. I mean, come on..."lurking scum isn't a threat". lol

I assure everyone, there was no inside joke taking place when this vote was cast. The fact that you were smurfing in a previous game doesn't bother me, but what interests me is why would you lie about it.

I called him out earlier on a lie, not because I care that he was smurfing, but to see how he responds and he completely ignores it. The way he disappears after stirring the pot makes him look shifty, but he claims to have real life obligations, which makes it tough to tell if he is lurking or not.

I haven't forgotten about redtooth's dodge of the proof that he was lying either. I'm putting in my vote for him unless he posts an explanation.

Yea, I'm not a heavy poster in mafia, but I read everything.

And don't you think posting less would be sticking out, and posting more blending in?

No, posting less allows you to lurk with the 10 others that have only a handful of posts, including the guy you just voted against, Beneather. Posting more allows us to have a better idea of where you stand and will eventually result in scum slips if you are red.

Then why did I stick out to you?

Because I'm looking for scum. Are you concerned about sticking out?

Make up your mind. Am I doing a "to good job blending in" or sticking out?

This exchange is very odd. I'd like the opinions of others on it. How could he think that posting less is sticking out, yet he is pushing Beneather for not posting much? No opinion of the lurking of Amber is given.

If you read the context of the posts, you can see that kitaman was making empty posts, and I was trying to focus his posting. He insinuates that he is concerned at my low post count, while at the same time claiming I am blending in too well. Obviously, if I stuck out to him due to my post count, I couldn't be blending in well... perhaps this needs further clarification, let me know if this doesn't make sense to anyone.

elmizzt has directly attacked Kurumi and Beneather who have flipped town. He also heavily went after Cthsazsa who at this point is almost definitely town.
He waited until the last possible moment to switch to Amber.
His posting is very similar to how he was Mafia in Surprisingly Normal Mini Mafia 1.
He is contributing very little, mostly one-liners.
He has a very strange explanation for his lack of activity.

I think he is worth looking at as well.

EternalMisfit is next on my analysis list.

So, in response to your conclusions:
1. misinterpretation
2. true, but at that point he wasn't "almost definitely town"
3. ok lol don't see how this is relevant at all. mafia and town would both react the same in that circumstance
4. bad conclusion
5. same as 4

It's scummy to me because
  • He claims to not understand because everything is "disorganized," even though the thread has cleaned up significantly since day 1, imo.
  • He is wishy washy.
I am not sure who to agree with. All of the accusations make sense.
Even though some are mutually exclusive (EM vs. ilovejohn)
  • He states facts that have no real relevance.
he was also the one that first FoS'ed EM.

  • He defends himself by referencing SC2 mafia, where scum are the loudest players and all the townies lurk, evidently.

Is Sinani winning the vote now? With elmizzt I think it's 7-6 in favor of Sinani, with EM as a close second. Am i wrong?

First, the criteria again:

Day 3 was another really important vote, in hindsight, as sinani206 was revealed to be a red.

Day 4 didn't bring too many changes. Though the vote was close at the start of 12 hours, it was more because the reds didn't have the manpower to switch the lynch, rather than there being actually two contested results. And the data shows that.

+ Show Spoiler +

How did it feel, having to choose between two of your own? lololol

Of course, in red's point of view, it'd be better to lose the new player whose every action had to be directed, and save the vet who could, given a miracle, survive... (ha)

Here's the summary.

I have more confidence in this, as it compiles 4 days of data, instead of just 2. But again, because I revealed the methodology before this, it is not completely impossible that the reds tried to coordinate and manipulate the procedures. I'll see about tweaking the factors the next time I play mafia.

To me, the data clearly shows that ilovejonn and AirbladeOrange are the remaining two reds.

Look dude, I appreciate your efforts with this statistical analysis, but the bottom line is, there is no way the conclusions can be accurate. Beyond the influence of intentional red manipulation, you simply don't have enough data to go on. Your sample size is pitifully small. It's not your fault, just a symptom of the game. It is far more beneficial to reach conclusions based on post content.

You would never put more newbies that experienced players in the mafia due to heavy imbalance.
Our prime suspects are..
redtooth
ilovejonn
impervious
airbladeorange

hey theyre all experienced. Either redtooth or ilovejonn is going to be the godfather because i believe they are the 2 most experienced of the 4

Pressure vote on AO from me.

What would be AO's agenda in killing off Kenpachi based on that? Revenge? I think you're reading too much into that. It was simply an easy kill to give no info, a delaying tactic by the last red because he feels no pressure from town.
