Unfortunately, the latest Mafia game is full, Sleeper Cell require you to have played one allready, and the next Mafia game doesn´t start until after Sleeper Cell, so I´m looking at 2 months of waiting before my first game. Someone starting a game soon would be much appreciated. There will be a newbie game soon from either GMarshal, myself, or both of us. I'd expect it within a few days or a week In the mean time try reading a past mafia game.

Something with no third party roles preferably. I was suggesting a mini because when I was new the large games looked really, really intimidating to me, and frankly I flubbed my way through the first one I was in by lurking. I feel like a mini is easier to get into, plus out of the 35 or so people who got access, I expect something like 10 of them to not show up/be able to keep up.

PMs/no clues, I think PMs are good tbh if its a game with ONLY newbies. PMs in a mixed game let good players abuse their experience but PMs in a game let the players communicate with eachother more especially if they are a bit afraid to post. Clues make a game easier for new players but it puts them into bad habits (i.e analysing clues instead of post behavior) I'd go for the most simple setup possible.

I suppose that can work, I'd rather avoid PMs actually, as I feel that with a newbie game the less stuff to focus on the more likely they are to be active. Do you want to make some slots for a couple of vets to help town along?

I honestly think that a smaller game might be a little less overwhelming for people who are trying to learn the ropes. Also, a big game might take longer to fill up and get going, and I think they have been waiting long enough. I think 2 mini games where nobody can play in both at the same time and with at most like 1-2 experienced players would be best.

A lot of people just got access, but 2 games of 11 might be preferable? Maybe transition from the mini learning games into a bootcamp style larger game then?

That sounds like a better plan. 2 mini learning games, then a larger bootcamp game combining players from the mini games. It should also keep the inactives in the regular games to a minimum as the people who decide mafia isn't for them will by and large be filtered out after 2 games.

Where you have a strong mafia player and a strong town player outside the game available for advice that isn't game specific. Something like "PM BloodyC0bbler for general advice on how to play as mafia". BC is already covering the reds for BB's game. If you would like I can act as a guide. I can do either town or mafia. I'd prefer mafia though.

I say we have GMarshal make his mini, and he only lets new players join. If it fills up fast, then DrH can make his mini and we'll go from there.

I'll just coach in my own game probably, if it's only 11 players or so that's not difficult to manage at all.

Also I figure if there's not quite enough new players we can pull some people who have played before as long as they aren't veterans and what not. Some of the newer players who need more experience.
