Lots of crying going on, all the Russians crying there eyes out all the Chinese and the Americans were hysterical xD In the end was USA >>>> Russia >> Romania > China Oh, I watched it, I meant whether anything happened in particular to move the thread along so quickly, but I'm guessing it was mostly the gymnastics, then. And yeah it was pretty sad, a lot of the Chinese were crying too the US owned pretty hard.

A statement from the BWF confirmed that all four pairs would face charges of "not using one's best efforts to win a match" and "conducting oneself in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the sport". "It was a disgrace. We had four pairs on court trying to lose - very un-Olympic spirit. I'm furious. It is very embarrassing for our sport." - Gail Emms former UK Badminton champion "China control everything. I don't know who controlled the match to lose but if it is China again, they did it so many times last year, they didn't play against each other in 20 matches. They do what they want." - Bulgaria's Petya Nedelcheva All because the danish pair won against the chinese. This reminds me of certain WCG's with SC-koreans trying to loose on purpose. It is frustrating on so many levels to look at. Yes, the real problem is probably the format, but it is disgraceful to do and there should be some kind of rules against it.

Oh haha xD miss understood. Erm, most of it was about Phelps in the swimming, losing the 200M Butterfly and winning the 4x 200m relay with team USA. Then a discussion about Phelps came up, then some mentioning of Gymnastics. Then this mornings stuff.

They thought she did, whole team thought they could still win, so it hurt even more. But in the end they lost out to the Americans by 5points which is a hella lot so no it wouldn't of mattered, but they thought it did at the time so it hurt real bad. Was a great routine too. Nearly as good as the American girls

Yeah...USA just bossed that day. I was going to mention the 5 points too. The loss wasn't only from that single fall, it was from the overall great performance from the US. I thought China was gipped on some of their rounds but in the end it didn't matter because they just failed epically. Cried a single tear (probably as much from staying up really late watching a crappy CRT TV as from sadness lolol) seeing how sad they were...for a lot of them it will probably the only chance, and they perhaps won't get too many opportunities after this olympics D':

Watching gymnastics is a horror show. It's mainly just watching people failing horribly then crying their eyes out since their dreams are crushed. Even the men. I can't imagine what it's like for parents watching that shit. I can barely take it...

I feel kind a sorry for the Chinese kid for being marked as a doping user without any proof. The chance for a real progidy to come from China considering their population and how hard they're probably made to practise hard sounds pretty likely to me.
Didn't Phelps set a WR when he was 15? And I'd argue that 15-16 year old girls have a better chance to do well than boys against older athletes in most sports. At least I've always though that boys/young men peak at higher ages and girls can still keep up with boys the younger they are.
I'm probably straying a bit from the discussion but I haven't really had the time to properly follow this years Olympics but Yi Shiwen case caught my attention.

Well, when they succeed it's awesome (like watching the China team take it this year after seeming hopeless after one of the stars was injured etc)...but when they don't it's heart-breakingly sad indeed

Well today, for the first time in Olympic history, a competitor actually pooped on the course. It was a horse in a dressage event, though, so noone really cared. However that monumental Olympic first was soon overshadowed by the much larger steaming pile left on the floor by the Russian women's gymnastic team.
