I think too many people overstate how much magic damage she does. Putting a shyv on a team doesn't magically balance out the lack of magic damage damage you bring to a fight, when you still have a k6/zed/lucian. It was merely a matter of Gambit not going full retard. Individually if 1v1 scenarios Alliance outscales, but in a 5v5 scenario gambit's comp was a lot better in teamfights in lategame.
