Imp, mata, and dade have been so lackluster lately. I mean, their potential (hue) is really high. I honestly consider Dade to be the second best mid laner in Korea if he can play at his best but he's having problems finding consistency. I mean, compare that to faker who puts his fucking team on his back when 4 other players are having terrible games and winning against a team like KT B.

Mata lackluster? That dude should have been mvp 3 times in a row for his leona play vs frost.

Dade "lately" especially has really pulled himself through the downer or whatever and now looks to be back in that second place you deem him to be. I think everyone would agree he's still no faker though.

I'll give you imp though. I don't think he looks close to piglet right now.

Matchup wise I think SKT definitely still has the better carries, Ozone has the better support, and they're probably even on the other two as Looper has come into his own a bit now.

But then again the Ozone that lost to shield in their first group stage game could show up tomorrow night *shudders*.

It's not so much mata as it is mata and imp not working well together. Mata hits a 3 man flay but it turns out it's still not correct to go in so they lose the engagement. It's just stuff like that that makes them not an elite team right now even though they have strong talent. They just don't seem to have consistency.

My noob analysis of the situation is that the key to taking down SKT is to deny Faker the chance to roam and/or get kills, while managing to pressure the other lanes, particularly bot. That's easier said than done with pretty much every member of SKT in superb form right now, but I feel like SKT is built around Faker in the sense that they are adept at withstanding pressure placed on mid; the more resources the opponents divert to keeping down Faker, the more freedom SKT has for their other lanes to carry. Maybe if you divert just enough resources to stop Faker from getting overly fed, while managing to keep down the other lanes (especially bot) you will do enough to be in a favourable situation against SKT by mid-game, from which you will simply need to be on point with shot-calling and the execution of picks and teamfights.

Of course, SKT have probably the best bot duo in Korea right now, so even if this is a workable plan, there's still the small matter of being able to beat Piglet and Mandu on your own merits. I thought Score and Mafa were in pretty beastly form but they got straight up murdered by the Hundred Acre Lane last night.

Have you wacthed game 1? Especially Impact, but Piglet aswell carried hard that game. I honestly felt Faker got shut down a little bit in that game, he didn't even go for DFG rush but went safe athene's style. Probably for Graggy's burst and Shyv's burnout and descent, but still.. he wasn't super huge there like he was in game 3 for example.

Does anyone have the MVP overall scores right now?

Also was sad to not see Score on Ezreal G3, its his best champion, how do you not use it once?

Also #2, Pooh's Zyra was not that great, not sold that she is very strong right now.

Also #3, if SKT goes 3-0 or 3-1 in the finals this would be the most dominant season (or "split" i guess) of any league team ever, in arguably the strongest league, at arguably its most competitive time to date.

Yeah but that's kind of my point: focusing on Faker isn't the key to beating SKT. My theory is that instead of trying to keep him down, just try and mitigate the damage he can do while putting pressure on top and bot (mainly bot). The point is to force SKT into a position where Faker becomes the carry, but to deny him the items to carry as hard as he is often capable of, so that you can survive long enough to break through the tank line and kill both Faker and Piglet with enough members left to win the teamfight.

I have no idea if that will actually work or not.

I think all of SKT are about as popular as you get.

But MadLife is another level of popular.

CloudTemplar for jungle vote imo.

mandu was a star before joining skt, having been a top chaos player and also a key player in GSG.

Well, by playing passively against him and denying him kills from all-ins, but also making sure he doesn't roam and pick up cheap kills that way either. Yes I saw G3 and he was terrifying, but he snowballed off a few kills he picked up in lane and from roaming. The idea would be to manage the threat, rather than try to eliminate it entirely.

Hey, take my 'analysis' with a grain of salt, I'm just throwing stuff out there. SKT obviously aren't invincible, but what's their weakness? How do you beat them?

But its not like Ryu fed. He was on Gragas (is there a safer midlaner right now?) and just calmly got destroyed. He even took advantage around Faker's 35-40 CS mark to push out when Faker kinda roamed top a little and caught up a bit.

What more are you supposed to do if Faker is on a champion with waveclear? I mean, Game 1 was a pretty low-kill game and Faker got beat early (and went ham too often late) but Piglet's mechanics were really good (and a little lucky) and Impact got huge.

What you're saying is we need SKT 2.0 so every lane of SKT loses and then SKT 2.0 will win.

Well you need at least 1 lane that is able to dominate at least 1 lane of SKT. Samsung Blue did that in preseason. Faker got 1v1'd, that lane snowballed against him, Bengi wasn't able to bring it back. Bingo Bango.

You could probably do the same if you had a sick toplaner that could dominate Impact, but the modern toplane leaves little room for that level of outplay.

could gank faker early like wcg ssb and ktb did g1 . a pure 1 v 1 faker only dies when he kills himself from cockiness

You're literally just saying "beat faker and all the other lanes by playing perfectly"... That's not really a plan...

could take lessons from njbs g1 where they managed faker's aggression without sacrificing too much( letting piglet get big). the prob is this strat can be totally undone by skt adjusting with a farming mage mid ala ori / syndra

tbh ryu's play is underwhelming. He gets bullied too hard on gragas early on and almost never takes opportunities. In g3 he got outsmarted by faker in lane like no tomorrow. He simply didn't have the confidence to trade with him correctly and just let him do what ever he wants with him. Faker being aggressive as like no tomorrow from lvl 1. What faker did in this lane was first asserting dominance and then farming. Ryus barrels are desperate and weak in all aspects, the timing, the aiming. From that lane match you could assume that riven is some kind of counterpick to gragas which ofc is not true. Ryu just didn't have the confidence. The game was extremely close though.

In g1 he actually was "winning" the lane. But this was also a kind of a sad story IMO. In that matchup gragas is superiour by default, he should have destroyed faker without insec teleganking. And even after he got fb on faker he didn't snowball his lane but misses more or less easy barrels on his botlane gank (the tumble anticipation was smart judgment but he could have thrown it in a way that would 100% hit piglet there). Now imagine Ryu would have the confidence to bully faker on his own in mid and insec teleganking bot at this time on impact who had an allready significant cs lead over him. This would have led to a dragon (skt got the first one...). Then imagine ryu actually hitting his ult on piglet on his first gank. The game would have been much different i think.
