I'm don't even use it myself, I just find it annoying that every single time someone does it has to be pointed out with some smug remark. It's not the wrong name, they're just skipping a word/letter.
I watch more football (soccer) than esports, and every team has a dozen abreviations. No one cares which one you use as long as they understand which team you're talking about. That's the point of abreviations, if you know who they're talking about when they say SKT1 then it's fine.
People call Vulcun "Vulcan" all the time here but not one points it out because it's a new team and they don't care how they call it as long as they understand the meaning. When they say "SKT1" eveyone acts like they just shat on BW's history or something. It's pretentious, if it was about being correct then they would be mad about Vulcan as well.

Everyone should stop abbreviating Lemondogs as LD, their team name is written as a single word, and LD stands for learning disability, so incorrectly using it as an abbreviation of their team name is disrespectful
