Just started watching full (non-English) VODs of OGN LoL so I can prepare for Worlds but the timezones and accessibility to English VODs is rough. Would you guys consider that English cast of OGN has enough analysis or am I better off pretending I understand Korean? Also, what time do they rebroadcast the events (if they rebroadcast at all, which I'm sure they do since I caught a short amount last week)?

They usually rebroadcast a few hours after the event is over, so it happens in the morning/afternoon. The OGN english casters put to shame the Riot casters.

Monte and DoA do an excellent job in casting the games. Rebroadcasts are 6PM CET and 6PM PST.
I am not sure why you are concerned about analysis when you watch Korean Broadcast when you dont understand korean at all. O_o

Thanks! Might miss the first game of the rebroadcast but that's a good enough time for them to start for me. Oh, and I was wondering if they were more analytical or play by play because if they were play by play then I wouldn't mind not having english casts. Haven't seen much of DoA ever since he left SC2 and he was pretty good so I'm glad he's doing well in LoL too.

DoA still casts SC2. DoA and Monte are a mix of play by play and analytical.

Even though Monte and DoA have the best circumstances to work with (highest level of play), I'd say they're the best duo around. Montes analytical understanding of the mechanics of the game is probably the highest of any non-pro around and his casting is spotless. I tore DoA a new one when he started casting sc2 and never really liked his casting, however in LoL he seems to have found his style and game. The only downside is that DoA's "semi-nerd" (read: star wars and lotr) jokes can be a bit tiresome. They're definitely a treat to listen to.

I'd actually LOVE it if Monte would cast some LCS games. I'd like to hear his thoughts on pick order, team comps and execution of strategies in both EU and NA. My guess would be that he tears half of them to pieces.

Btw: The ogn twitch VODs are definitely worth $6/month

It's $8/month for non-grandfathered accounts. Still worth it, just sayin.

To me, the best thing about DoA and Monte is that they aren't afraid to be critical of the teams. I feel like LCS casters try to be too nice. In LCS you hear things like "If X happens, they could come back." in assinine situations. Meanwhile on OGN Monte will be like "Well, this game's over." The willingness to be unapologetically frank is refreshing and doesn't make me feel insulted while watching.

Monte and Doa are my favourite casting duo, too, but you have to understand why they cast like they do and why the LCS guys cast different. It's not a matter of analytical skill per se, but rather that they cater to different audiences. Monte explained it very nicely in his Grilled episode. I just often get a sour taste when people like to "shit" on LCS casters because of this, because they too are extremely good at what they are expected to do, just as Monte and Doa are for their audience.

I like that as well. Hearing "Unless XXX makes gigantic mistake, this game is pretty much over".

League is primarily a numbers&items game. Barring certain champs with massive gold scaling, a team 10-20% ahead is incredibly far ahead, and the game is pretty much locked up.

Funny though that OGN is probably the last place you'd expect a comeback.

I mean, many teams are skilled at pushing through defenders to close out games, but some are equally skilled at turtling games out

Usually the teams with really good team fight like Blaze can come back against lesser teams. On the flip side of that all the other good teams with good team fights also have a good early game so they're rarely ever behind.
