Wait, lets say you let maybe 3 high picks through like Jayce, TF and 1 other high priority (ryze/khaxix/Diana?) on purple side, and you let them get their first pick and take the next 2, does this just not work in practice?
My question is the viability of target banning on purple, and attempting to use your first 2 picks to get high priority champions such as TF, Jayce, and Diana

It's entirely situational. Depends on your players who can play said OP champs vs the other team's player.

If you're playing Blaze, do you really want to risk leaving Jayce or TF open for Flame and Ambition? Even if you get Jayce or TF, can your guys play it at a level where whatever you don't pick doesn't wreck that lane for your side?

For example, just because dade gets TF, doesn't mean he can play it half as well as Ambition and you just gave Flame Jayce. gl Homme.

Do you think that Blaze could use this strategy against Ozone to try to abuse Flame and Ambition's mastery over most often banned champions?

I remember hearing quantic/c9 saying something along those lines in an interview. They said they just leave all the OPs unbanned and just to pick up more of them.

Against MVP O, if I were Blaze, I'd just snipe Imp all day. But that's a really simplistic approach and I doubt Blaze will do something that unrefined.

The fact is that Flame and Ambition both have a huge champion pool that they don't need to worry too much. Flame is levels above Homme that Flame. Ambition obviously has an edge on dade as well.

Looking at MVP's bans against SKT and KT B, TF is essentially universally banned. MVP will ban Jayce on Purple side and leave it open for dade first pick otherwise. Flame Jayce still better. There's also your usual Kha'Zix and lately Kennen bans as well. Again, Ambition and Flame can play both, respectively.

Edit: @caelym, that goes back to what I was talking about previous about your players better than OP then the enemy team. Hai loves to play AD mids, so you'll almost never see them ban Jayce, Zed, or Kha'Zix. Instead, they'll ban Junglers that can put early pressure on their lanes and possibly niche bans for Mid Lane (See: pr0lly respect bans during Summer Promotion)

Was hoping so hard for Frost but realistically in Korea, if you have the best Top and Mid Lanes, it's hard not to have this immense early game that can carry you into late with a huge advantage. Holy shit Flame is a beast. Always hurts when your old school favorites get trounced by up and comers but Flame is the real deal. Such a transformation from IPL5 to OGN Spring.

I'll give the edge to Blaze but MVP has been playing at their best all postseason (can't say the same for the teams MVP O played against, zzz). Control Imp and the game is in the bag. Flame has no peers atm. dade can pull some cool tricks out of his bag but this is Ambition we're talking about. G_G, Blaze 3-1.

Agree, 3-1 Blaze. Ozone been looking good, but I think Blaze is good enough to shut down the Imp pain train.

Thoughts on the scene in general as the Spring Season draws to a close.

1) What will happen to inSec? He really didn't mesh all that well with the other teammates of KT Rolster B, and if rumours are to be believed, it looks like he is on his way out despite the official announcements claiming that both KaKAO and inSec will be utilized in the team as junglers. KaKAO is rumoured to be training with KT Rolster B, while inSec has been left on his own to practice on solo-que. If online gossip is to be believed, there's not a lot of options available for inSec, with only LG-IM showing interest, while CJ Entus Blaze members were heavily against any roster changes including the possibility of team expansion as was the case for CJ Entus Frost. There are a lot of fans who think inSec should join CJ Entus Frost, but I really am not sure whether it's just wishful thinking, or if he really will end up returning to the CJ Entus franchise.

2) My god are the KT Rolster management trigger happy with roster squads or what. Maknoon joins an unproven team in what is obviously a career changing move for him. With Najin Sword already guaranteed 440 points at the very least by the end of this season, and KT Rolster A's circuit points being reset due to the heavy roster changes, it might be fair to say that we won't be seeing Maknoon in Season 3 World Championship. The new jungler for KT Rolster A, Lila, wasn't even ranked earlier this year, and made it into the team probably due to his impressive performances in the NLB Spring Season against KT Rolster A. I have no idea how the bottom-lane duo were picked, so I'll just sit back and watch how this new team performs. I don't have high hopes though.

3) The downfall of CJ Entus Frost. A lot of people have been predicting a fall from grace from CJ Entus Frost, with RapidStar failing to adapt to the ever-changing metagame, and even more so for CloudTemplar. They have showed some improvement, such as RapidStar learning to play Twisted Fate, and CloudTemplar attempting to expand his champion pool. They exceeded my personal expectations for them by reaching the round of four, but there's a lot of fans who are upset and riled up about their favourite's team's heavy defeat against CJ Entus Blaze. They will go up against SK Telecom T1 #2 in the third/fourth place play-offs, and I don't think their early game compares favourably against the upstarts. A crushing defeat at the hands of SK Telecom T1 #2 might send CJ Entus Frost into a downward spiral. Despite their respectable finish this season, and a proven record of excellence throughout all these years, CJ Entus Frost is a team under crisis in my opinion.

4) I don't think there is a soul out there who honestly believes that MVP Ozone has a chance against CJ Entus Blaze. Imp himself said on his Facebook page that they are the underdogs against CJ Entus Blaze, and their method of playstyle really falters against them in particular. Dade, even during his days as the number one solo-que player in Korea, has been always wary of Ambition. When a fan told him that he was up against Ambition on his smurf account, he told him after two waves of creeps, "This is obviously not Ambition. I can just tell by the way he moves." Considering both players have a tendency to try to dominate their lanes without the help of their junglers, I can't help but feel Dade will have a tough time against Ambition. There are so many factors working against MVP Ozone that I think the only way for them to win is for Dandy to assert total dominance over Helios. I think Dandy doing better than usual will be more vital for the team than Imp playing out of his mind on his own. There's nothing Imp can do on his own against a team like CJ Entus Blaze in my opinion.

I find it pretty hilarious that Frost always loses to Blaze in tournament play, blaze just seems to have frost figured out in both the ban/pick phase and ingame

I don't think frost is a team in crisis by any means. They're the most decorated team in the history of Korean LoL, and again made it to the ro4 in the most competitive LoL tournament only to be knocked out by blaze, who just might be the best in the world right now. They're still in a great position to make it to world's, and to even suggest that they're in crisis shows the amount of high expectations people have on them. Frost has maintained relevancy throughout the years in this ever-changing game while keeping the core of the team intact. Blaze vs frost came down to mainly the difference in skill between the two mid players, but you can't really blame rapidstar because who else is really better than ambition? Arguably only faker is even comparable. Do you change your mid player for that? I don't know if its really worth risking ruining your team chemistry by switching players. I really dislike how trigger happy and cut throat KT seem to be and I don't think it really breeds success. This is a team game after all - and I'm really impressed with how onair's been managing this.

Sword/Blaze was really good.

I'd watch Ozone/Blaze also as a primer for the final.

The playoffs themselves have been stomps, but I'd recommend most of the Group A games. Blaze, SKT #2, Sword, Ozone and Blue were all super fun and competitive games. Group B, for the most part, was pretty bleh and it showed in the playoffs when they went an overall 4-13 against the superior Group A.

Thanks boss. Yeah, I checked the stream in the thread and it had the Third Place match advertised there, but didn't see anything for the Finals. That's a lot of practice time O; Hoping for some good series!

I think the Frost naysayers are being a little premature. They finished at the top of their group, easily dispatched Sword in the quarter-finals, and then lost to Blaze who are not only in incredible form right now, but are uniquely aware of Frost's strengths and weaknesses. But what I admire most about Frost is their mental resilience; they seem to have a psychological edge over most teams, and know how to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. They remind me of Manchester United in that you can never, ever, rule them out. The only thing I worry about is whether the acquisition of Hermes has upset their balance - I think mechanically he's probably better than Woong, but given that Frost were a powerhouse even when Woong was famously 'the worst ADC in Korea', I suspect his value to the team was a lot more than just his mechanical skills.
