I think it's because TSM doesn't know how to counterpick Kayle whereas if they choose another character, then TSM can effectively counterpick that champ.

eh. wtf reactions work pretty well against TSM if their past experiences is anything to go by. Remember M5 shyvana picks against TSM at iem? They were thrown off so damn hard

Cass should win easiliy pre 6 - Veigar becomes a threat after 6 but if he can't burst Cass he'll just die after because of his long cds. Veigar probably has better gank combo with Mundo, stun -> cleaver.
edit: especially with blue. but I can easily see regi overextending trying to zone veigar and then dying.
